Chapter 34: Ch-34: Moral Dilemmas are Harmful
In the midst of the pitch-black void created by Tosen's Bankai, the Soul Reapers were locked in a desperate struggle against their own shadows. The darkness enveloped everything, rendering them blind and deaf to their surroundings. It was a disorienting and eerie experience for all, and even the captains were not exempt from its effects.
Every Captain and Vice Captain pulled out their Zanpakuto, and braced themselves to face their own shadows. I? I was just rendered defenseless after casting the spell. Everything around me was enveloped in pitch darkness, no light, no sound. It was all so lonely, and peaceful, It seems the ability itself calms the mind to put my guard down against Tosen, and guess what? It was working.
I am not a battle hungry monster like Zaraki Kenpachi, to let him attack myself. I couldn't even see the system screen, which depicts the darkness veil have far surpassed the realm of 2D or 3D, and is in an ethereal form. Now I have no option that to wait, and brace myself for impact by his sword.
Tosen couldn't believe his eyes, all the Captains were also captured inside his Bankai? When did it last happened? 10 or maybe 20 years? He have been trying to improve this very thing in his Bankai, i.e. to select the targets to pull inside the domain, and not everyone in range. Was it a fluke? Or did he momentarily misfired the ability?
As he was pondering the possible outcomes, suddenly a voice spoke, "You know the answers yourself, Tosen". Tosen was momentarily frightened, and yelled, "Who", It was because the voice had a striking resemblance, "Oh you recognized me, huh!"
Suddenly, Tosen's body was pierced by a sword as the same way he thrusted his Zanpakuto onto Ridhiro's chest. He coughed out blood, and his ability started to get cancelled. Everyone's vision started to restore, as Tosen saw the face of the perpetrator.
It was Tosen himself, or should say, the shadow of Tosen created by Ridhiro's spell. The fake Tosen said, "You are too stuck up, and even you yourself know the plans you forged are nothing in front of great power, hence you will die here, today, by the hands of your own shadow, Die in grief, as your decision have even bittered your Zanpakuto against yo-." He vanished in thin air, as the bits of the shadow flew through the bright sky, Tosen fell on the ground with a large thud, lifelessly.
The seemingly normal sword piercing through his body, turned into a Zanpakuto, Tosen's Zanpakuto! He died being penetrated by his own Zanpakuto. The veil completely lowered, and everyone, even their shadows were shocked to see a Captain being killed so easily.
Ridhiro couldn't help but feel something was amiss, Tosen must have did something he didn't in the anime, even violating his inner sense of justice, to the point being killed by the manifestation of his own shadow.
All the shadows stood against all the Captains, ready for showdown. But suddenly Captain Komamura, shouted with pushing his lungs to his limits, "TOOOSEN, you cannot die, did you forget our promise, the one we did together." But alas, Tosen was gone, and tears of grief trickled down from Komamura's eyes.
He then looked at me with eyes that could kill, guess his intension was to cut me into pieces, but was stopped by his own shadow. Their swords clashed and both were equally matched, eventually every Captain was attacked by their counterpart shadows.
Yamamoto raised his iconic wooden staff, which disintegrated, revealing his Zanpakuto. As the two Zanpakuto clashed, the sheer amount of fire from two Ryujin Jakka was insane.
The only people not fighting was Shunsui, damn even his shadow is lazy. one just took out a magazine and another started to take a nap meanwhile. and eventually both said a sentence with perfect sync I have ever witnessed, the iconic, "What a pain".
Komamura couldn't take anymore and used his everyday lifesaver Bankai as expected, Bankai should be the final ultimate surprise element against the enemy, who uses it at the start of the fight? He yelled BANKAI! Kokujo Tengen Myo'o.
A huge giant wearing heavy armor appeared, with a striking resemblance like the Susano'o from Naruto anime. He cleaved the shadow with the large blade of his Bankai, Guess the shadows cannot use Bankai, or else it would be real overpowered.
I took the chance to flee and helped Ichigo and the others to flee faster than a rat running from a cat. It was easy for the Captains and Vice Captains to finish their respective shadows, but the one who most struggled was....Aizen, yes, Damn even his shadow is more intelligent than everyone here combined, and it looked like he really struggled, too bad I already recorded every second of his fight, precisely for 14 minutes and 39 seconds.
Gotta keep this to use against him, if he suddenly uses an Uno reverse card against me in the future. Now I lowkey want to use the spell again against him, to see who is smarter, will they outsmart each others outsmarting?
But actually killing Tosen was not my plan, but it seems it has, made me a target of revenge, for Captain Komamura. Yamamoto ordered, "Everyone have full independence to use force, kill that Ryoka boy, he must be punished to death for the crime of killing a Captain".
Yoruichi the cat, praised me, "That was so great boy, you are really lucky to have spells powerful enough to actually stop Captain level Soul Reapers for such durations".
I was also interested to see would Zaraki deal with his own shadow, but it was quickly disintegrated by Yamamoto's flame, and the only shadow among all was affected, looks like Zaraki's luck is super low. We ran to find the exit, while I rubbed my nose, listening to Yoruichi's praises.
Various strong Spiritual Pressure locked on us, having a pathetically Zero effect on me, but Ichigo and the others suffered from such violent bursts of pressure. We braced ourselves to fight as we ran further in a mission to find the exit.
