Chapter 36: Ch-36: Captains are not Invincible
As our fight began to become tense due to transformation power up from both sides, as Toshiro used his Bankai, I used a couple spells, did it really gave me a power up? I guess, and the wind pressure generated from the intense battle was powerful enough to make Ichigo and gang to try hard and resist.
Toshiro's Bankai took form as a pair of wings and a tail formed behind his back, and a chill enveloped the whole battlefield. The spell I casted, formed a huge amount of light energy at my disposal, effectively transform into a large sword. Quickly, the second spell took place, and a tidal wave of water revolved around the huge light sword formed.
Toshiro dashed towards me, and launched a slash attack of ice energy with near impossible speeds, breaking the sound barrier easily. The attack took the shape of a dragon, and a loud roar was released, due to such speed. He said, "Let me show you the terror of the peak of a Captain, DIE"
As the attack neared us, I retorted, "Stretch, Murakumo", and the light sword extended at high speed. And guess what? The velocity it gained was powerful enough to shatter the huge attack before doing great damage, and the high temperature caused them to melt before landing.
Toshiro was shocked to see his huge attack, getting stopped in one strike. He couldn't help but say, "What kind of monster are you?" Good question, should I say? But is that a complement or an insult? I looked at him maintaining the same indifferent gaze, as he was looking at me expectantly. Why is he looking at me? Did he really thought I will give a satisfactory answer?
Without wasting time, I started to control small droplets to hover in the air, I knew about the weakness water user opponents face against Toshiro, its just the technique to use it which gives an edge over him, or overwhelm him with power. As the droplets remain floated, the battle continued.
The reason I am desperately trying to skip the fight part...is because it is becoming uneventful and anticlimactic. Every time Toshiro fires a Large dragon, I dodge or slice through it. Seriously? is he having only one damn attack? Where did his iconic ice prison attack go? It was getting so much boring as after every failed attempt, he is again firing without fail, is he perhaps trying to exhaust my powers? Heh, amateur mistake.
But suddenly he stopped, and became all serious, I mean he always look serious, but now a damn one. He raised his Zanpakuto, and...at last, the attack pattern thankfully changed. It was becoming more predictable than Naruto firing Rasengan. As he Raised his Zanpakuto, his body began glowing, and with a great rumble, the skies crackled. Did the skies mistake his element? It is ice, not thunder by the way.
Yoruichi yelled, "We cannot defend against that attack, we must escape", Ichigo said, "But Ridhiro?". Hearing his concern everybody's concern changed from the incoming rumbling attack to Ridhiro's safety. Yoruichi said, "The attack of such large range have no scope to escape, now all the responsibilities are on YOU...Ichigo."
The revelation was like a thunderclap to their ears, as they shifted their gaze towards me with near infinite sympathy. Hell, I cannot bear such gazes, why are they so surely assuming about my defeat, do I look like a fool? (kinda). I raised my hands, and thousands of light swords formed above, gleaming in golden shine ready to harvest. Ichigo and gang looked at the spell in awe.
As both of our attacks were ready, we fired them at full force towards each other. The blinding light swords targeted towards Toshiro moved at breakneck speeds, and in response everywhere frost started to form, it was Toshiro's attack at it's very best. I looked at my friends reaction, and saw tears in Rukia's eyes, Damn why are they crying? I said for the last time before the frost fully enveloped me into an ice statue, "Run far away, and try to rescue her with your very best."
It was like an ultimatum, to hear such words broke their hearts, and finally everyone broke into tears, and why the Hell is even Renji crying? He does not even know me well. Alas, before I could say anymore, I was sealed into an ice sculpture.
Did the story ended here? No, absolutely not, does everybody thinks water is so ineffective against Toshiro? As he walked past the huge statue which sealed me inside, suddenly his eyebrows squinted. More than half a dozen of heated rays blasted through his body before even he could react. Rangiku shouted, "CAPTAIN!" Before he fell to the ground, defeated and his consciousness fading away, he took a last look towards me, and said with the leftover energy he had, "So this was his planning". The sudden drastic change shocked everyone again, looks like being shocked is the new normal.
More amount of heated rays blasted upon the ice statue, and it exploded with a bang! The attack was simple, named 'Megiddo' from Tensura. To use water droplets as magnifying surfaces to concentrate the sun rays into super heated beam of destruction, so hot to be able to effectively melt ice near absolute zero. As Toshiro used his attack, I used the light energy to protect the Droplets to stay heated, to perfectly strike him, I had to let him put his guard down.
As the ice structure melted, I jumped down towards Ichigo and gang, as their expressions show the absurdity of the situation. I reached and to break the ice, I broke the awkward silence, "So let's proceed". Everyone simply nodded, as we moved forward towards out goal, to break out from the Gate and eventually from the Soul Society.
