Chapter 4: Boar

'I'm glad nothing happened on the walk back here, the stupid antlers getting caught on stuff and having to drag the skull sometimes. Looking at it, it looks fine, just dirty, but I still made it.' The tree in front of him is 50 meters tall and big enough for him to fit inside and still have plenty of room; a big opening can be seen along with some scorch marks around it. ' I'm guessing I walked out of that, and judging by the scorch marks, it wasn't there before. Did the light make the hole? Or was it the Star Archives that did it? Wait, what's the difference between them?'

Before he can start thinking too much, he stops himself. ' I'd best just stop trying to think about it for now, since the hole way made for me might as well make it my den.' Walking in, dragging the skull to the back of his den. 'Now that I'm not carrying that anymore, I want to try and get enough energy to see what happens when I max it.'

Lowering his nose to the ground, he starts sniffing, trying to find something nearby worth hunting. Catching the scent of something, he starts walking.

Making his way through the foliage of the forest, he could hear the sound of roots being torn and dirt being thrown around. Looking at the boar that's 10 meters away from him. The boar is 3.6 meters tall, even taller than Asbjorn when he is on all fours; the sun reflecting off its tusks makes him think of steel; its body is a dark gray; it looks like its whole body is made of metal.

' You'd think, looking that deadly, it would start to eat other stuff, but hey, if it's not broke, don't fix it. My instincts are telling me I can kill it; I just need to dodge its first charge and I'll win. . . let's hope so.'

Asbjorn lets out a low growl to get the boar's attention. The boar stops and looks up at Asbjorn. It grunts a bit as a warning while its muscles start tensing up, getting ready to change if Asbjorn does anything. Asbjorn starts walking sideways to position a tree behind him, so when the boar charges, it'll hit it, making it stop or at least slow down.

The boar visibly nervous; its breathing getting heavier, and its eyes roaming, looking for an exit after it charges. Asbjorn lets out a jarring roar, shaking the leaves off some branches. The boar charges, leaving imprints as it runs. Looking at the boar rapidly approaching, Asbjorn starts getting ready to jump to the side.

His instincts flare, causing him to jump to the side as the boar rushes past him. He used a little more power than needed, causing his to slide a bit when he landed, coming to a stop just in time to hear the boar hit the tree with the sound of a bomb, pieces of the tree flying everywhere, some even hitting Asbjorn fur before falling down.

Standing up on his hind legs, he turns to the boar that's in a daze. He brings his paws into the air with his claws ready before slapping down. His paws hit the boars back with a thud, which was drowned out by the cry of the boar while it fell to the ground on its stomach with its legs under it. His claws felt resistance from the boars skin, so he curled his paws before his claws sank into the skin. He starts pulling down with his paws ripping from the boars back to its rips before the boar starts getting up again, blood spilling out of the gash in its side. The boar starts to stand up, making pained grunts.

Following his instincts, Asbjorn starts to back up, getting ready to charge at it. The boar stands up and starts trying to steady itself, but Asbjorn charges it before it can. His head down and to the side enough to where his shoulder will hit first before hitting it, the boar squeals before falling over with a thump and starts thrashing around trying to get up. Asbjorn positions himself near the neck, so when he sees an opportunity, he can bite its neck and rip its throat out. Snapping forward before biting down his teeth without feeling any resistance like his claws did, he starts shaking his head violently a few times before ripping back and pulling a chunk of meat with him. From the blood pouring from its side and now its throat, it doesn't take long for it to die.

Blood covering his front legs and his head, he swallows the chunk of meat in his mouth before inhaling deeply and shaking his body to try and get some of the blood off.

'Why didn't I get energy from the piece I ate? Maybe I have to eat the whole thing, but can I even eat it all? It's bigger than me in every way, unless I stand on my hind legs. I'll probably take its tusks back with me. I should stop being stuff with my after I kill stuff, but I feel like the first few kills will always be special, and if I ever do become a bear god, I'll be able to look back at them, remembering where it all started.'

After a few hours of eating and digesting, all that's left are its tusks.

[50 energy stored]

'I wonder why I only got 50? That boar was definitely worth more; maybe the rest will be added after I wake up?' He starts walking back to his den with the tusks.

Arriving at the den, he walks in, putting the tusks by the skull. Looking at the antlers, he realizes they kind of look like a crown. They come out of the skull, 80cm long, and at the base of the antlers, they started to grow in different directions. The left side grows left while the right is right. They go for 1 meter each before pointing up for 20 cm, then another point can be seen; it's 40 cm, then the one more point is 60 cm, and then it's the 80cm main antlers. On each point, it had some growth too, but they're all random shapes and sizes.

Turning away, he goes to the middle of the den and lays down.

[Energy full, do you wish to sleep?]

'Hopefully the rest of the energy from the boar will be there, yes.'

Closing his eyes, he fell asleep, his snore echoing in the tree.
