Chapter 4: A New Beginning?
32 years later...
In the Shōwa Era, around midnight.
A kid around 6 years old is running away from someone. He's crying so much and running away for his life. No one is there except him and the chaser.
That's a demon.
The demon is chasing him, looks like he's playing with him. The kid has simple clothes. He looks so innocent. While the demon looks scary, he has a long tongue, long & sharp teeth, and some Western clothes. He looks athletic.
The other two demons join him as well, they're his servants.
It is a full moon. The gales are horrifying the scene even more. The boy doesn't even know where he's going. He's just running straight to save his life.
"How unlucky you are. You can't run away from me, run as much as you want hahaha," says the demon.
A few hours ago, everything was alright. The boy was out of his house. His whole family was asleep. He had 2 younger brothers, 2 sisters and his parents. He had no neighbours nearby.
"Everyone is sleeping at home. I should go back home or else Mom will scold me. I want to sleep but my mind isn't ready for it," thinks the kid.
He was near his house, he just came out of his house because he was not able to sleep. Walking in the moonlight may help him to fall asleep. He mostly does this when he doesn't fall asleep.
Suddenly he feels something strange. A strong intuition is telling him to go home as soon as possible.
He runs toward the home and smells something like blood. He arrives home, slowly pushing the shoji door and sees through it.
When he sees what's going on, he becomes stunned. He couldn't believe his eyes but it was real, he saw his family eaten by the demon.
"Don't watch me like that, I can see you," says the demon.
The kid doesn't know what to do. He's too young for this, he could do nothing about it.
Before the kid could say anything, the demon started running towards him.
Now in the present, the kid is exhausted but still running with all his stamina left.
He finds a temple in front of him. That's a historic temple to the goddess of mercy.
When he came near the temple, he fell on the ground.
The demon is slowly coming towards the kid. He's making him crawl. The kid tries to protect himself from the demon, so he picks up some stones from the ground and throws them at him but there's no use of it.
"Do you really think that you can get away from me by doing this? Why don't you simply accept your destiny? I'll send you to your family without any effort," says the demon in a sarcastic way.
"Why did you kill everyone? Don't you feel guilty about it?" says the kid while crying.
"Why would I feel any guilt? I am a demon and it's my right to do so," says the demon while laughing.
The kid is crying so much. Seeing him like this, the other two demons show pity towards him. One of them was a female demon.
"Takeshi-Sama, I'm sorry but I think we should leave this kid," says the female demon.
"Are you okay, moron? Do you even know what are you saying? We are demons and we can't let anyone free like this," says Takeshi in anger.
The other two demons remember their past. Some days ago, they were living a good life with their family until Takeshi came and slaughtered their family. They wanted to live, so Takeshi took them to the current demon king and turned them into demons.
"Listen, kid. There's nothing like a family, and love doesn't exist. You can't live in this world with the power of love alone. Everyone has to go to nothingness at the end of the day," says Takeshi in a stern voice.
"You're wrong. Didn't your family love you? And now you're ruining others' families," sobs the kid.
At this point, Takeshi starts believing that he's guilty. He remembers his past. He had a very cruel father, but still, his mother loved him very much. He was lonely, he had no siblings or friends to play with. His father used to drink alcohol and take drugs, his dad would often beat his mother. Even after domestic violence, she would endure everything for him.
When he was 7 years old, his mother suddenly became very ill. Now his father would often beat him instead of his mother which made her afflicted. She couldn't do anything to save him.
2 months later, his mother died due to the illness. This made him depressed, she was the only one who loved him in this world. At his most crucial moment, his dad ignored him. And some days later, his dad left him for another wife.
It made him deceived that there was nothing like a family.
Now he furiously glares at the kid.
"Shut up, kid. You know nothing about this world. Just die," shouts Takeshi and tries to attack him.
But the two demons save him.
"So you're trying to fight me huh? Know your place and who you are fighting, I am one of the twelve kizukis. I am Lower Moon 6," says Takeshi.
"We won't make anyone suffer like how we suffered. And we will save this kid even if it costs our lives, but we won't make anyone suffer anymore," says the demons.
They both attack him simultaneously but he blocks their attacks.

He shoots a venomous beam at them which gives them intense pain and their body melts.
The kid is frightened by his abilities.
"My subordinates died because of you. You are nothing but a curse, and I need to eradicate you from this world," says Takeshi.
When he tries to attack him, another kid around his age appears immediately.
The other kid has a katana sword. He looks so cute and innocent, he has long hair. His face is shining like the moon and has a weird mark on his face. Despite being a 6-year-old kid, it seems like he has no meaning in life, no hatred, no emotion, no fighting spirit etc. He also has Hanafuda earrings.
Takeshi started shivering after seeing his earrings. He doesn't know why he is shivering, he isn't afraid of him.
"What a beautiful night it is, now I can eat two kids and become strong," says Takeshi.
He runs toward the kid with hanafuda earrings to attack him, his hand is some inches away from the kid but then he sees his right arm has been cut off.
"What?!! I couldn't even see his attack. Could he be… a hashira? Hashira at this age, how is this even possible?" thinks Takeshi.
"Why do you hashiras run after us? We lower moons spend our whole lives hiding from y'all. You have no mercy upon us," says Takeshi.
A normal kid can't understand what he's saying. But the Hashira kid understands and says in a calm voice," What do you mean by mercy? Do you guys think twice before killing any innocent? You guys kill people for power. You guys are called demons for a reason. You ruin countless lives of people, you show no mercy upon anyone. So why should we show any mercy towards you?"
And then he decapitates Takeshi's head.
Before turning into dust, he thinks, "I've never seen anyone like this kid in my entire life. Was I… wrong?"
And then he gets erased from this world.
The first kid is shocked. He thinks that he has seen this Demon Slayer before, maybe somewhere else. No, it's not just Deja Vu. He has seen someone like him wearing the same earrings for real.
"Come with me," says the hashira.
"Oh… okay, thank you so much," thanks the kid.
A few moments later, the demon king, Kokushibo arrives at the same place.
"How's this even possible? They've disappeared in no time. So the kid is no one but… him," thinks Kokushibo.
Now in the demon slayer hideout, both the kids are safe. The first kid may never be able to forget about it. He's still sad, and suddenly the other kid comes toward him.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't ask about you. By the way, what's your name?"
