Chapter 6: CHAPTER 6

They could change at will, with an incredibly powerful camouflage ability. When impersonating someone, they could even replicate memories and abilities.

That's why people had given him the nickname 'Shanzhai Starman.'

Then, there was another group of Skrulls, the Eternals, who couldn't transform but possessed significant inherent strength, similar to the Titans.

Rhodes could immediately tell that the one before him was a mutated Skrull.

At this very moment, he had taken on the appearance of the old butler, Alt. He had infiltrated the secret room of the princess's mansion, presumably with the intention of stealing the death cloak.

Rhodes thought to himself, "Amora mentioned that the Frost King hired others to acquire the death cloak. It seems the Skrulls and their accomplices might be the hired help."

All of this transpired in the blink of an eye.

Alt noticed something amiss in the way Rhodes was looking at him.

—Could he have been discovered?

Alt's anxiety surged, and cold sweat dripped down his back.

"People of the Skrull tribe, release the death cloak immediately," Rhodes commanded.

Alt's body trembled, and without hesitation, he swung the silver suitcase directly toward Rhodes' face, attempting to strike him and make his escape.

Boom! Boom!

Two muffled thuds followed in quick succession.

Rhodes reacted with incredible speed. He shattered the silver suitcase with a powerful punch and lunged forward, using his elbow to strike Alt's chin. The force was overwhelming, causing Alt to be sent flying through the air, blood spurting from his mouth.

"Don't even think about escaping. Otherwise, I might just end up killing you," Rhodes warned with a casual tone as he stepped on Alt's chest.

Alt writhed in agony, on the brink of losing consciousness. The pressure from Rhodes' foot weighed down on him like a mountain, rendering him immobile.

At the same time, the Skrull's ability to maintain their disguise began to wane. Their skin rapidly reverted to its natural green hue, and their ears became more pronounced.

To any onlooker, the sight was undoubtedly shocking, but Rhodes had already seen through the ruse.

"Green-skinned monster, where's the old butler?" Rhodes inquired.

"He... he's dead!" The Skrull grinned wickedly, blood oozing from their mouth.

"Then you can go join him," Rhodes responded without any hint of emotion. He increased the pressure beneath his foot, causing the imposter to gasp for breath, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.

"He's not dead! Please, let me go!" The Skrull struggled to utter these words.

"See, you still want to live. If you want to live, tell me where the old butler is, and do it obediently," Rhodes relented slightly to allow the Skrull to speak.

"On Wuquan Avenue, we didn't kill him!" the green-skinned monster revealed.

"Very well," Rhodes acknowledged. He knew of Wuquan Avenue, not far from the princess's mansion. He had passed by that street a few days ago while shopping for shoes.

"Now, can you let me go?" The Skrull appeared fearful.

"Did I say I'd let you go?" Rhodes shrugged, then raised his leg and kicked the Skrull unconscious.

Now he needed to rescue the old butler.

As he took a few steps, Rhodes noticed surveillance equipment around the secret room.

Evidently, everything that had just transpired had been recorded.

"..."

Rhodes rubbed his chin, sensing a potential problem.

He wasn't ready to reveal his true abilities just yet.

This attempt to intercept the green-skinned monster was merely a test.

Rhodes had no intentions of unveiling his full strength at this moment.

"It's a pity I can only manipulate mental memories, and I can't alter these machines..."

Rhodes was concerned about how to hide.

He surveyed the room.

The old butler, Alt, was tightly bound and thrown into a corner. His eyes were wide open, reflecting disbelief at the unfolding events. Unfortunately, his mouth had been sealed, preventing any screams.

Whoosh!

Unexpectedly, at that moment...

A small, insectoid creature emitted a shrill scream, hurling a laser knife with all its might.

A high-pitched whistling filled the air.

Rhodes narrowed his eyes, swiftly dodging the incoming attack. He managed to evade being struck in the head by the blade.

The insectoid creature was skilled in combat and, seizing the opportunity, darted forward on all four legs, aiming to decapitate Rhodes.

But in the next instant...

Rhodes exhibited astonishing speed, reaching out to snatch the handle of the flying laser knife, then promptly hurling it back!

Swish!

The laser knife impaled the insectoid creature, pinning it to the ground.

Green, viscous blood sprayed across the floor, and moments later, the creature lay motionless, unmistakably dead.

To Rhodes, the movements of these aliens seemed sluggish, offering no real threat.

"It's over," Rhodes murmured as he wiped away a splatter of foul-smelling green blood from his cheek.
