Chapter 2: Prologue (2)

Three years ago, inside Lin Xian'er's bedroom, the wife of the Sect Master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

A group of people stood around, watching over Lin Xian'er, who had just given birth to her baby girl.

The people present now are those who are close to Lin Xian'er. Ning Fengzhi as her husband with 3 of his concubine and Ning Haiyan.

Ning Fengzhi actually had more concubines, but most of them stayed outside of the clan with their son, some studying in an academy and most learning to take over some of the clan's business.

"Sister Xian'er, here you go… your daughter looks as pretty as you…"

One of the concubines, who was carrying the baby in her arms walked over and handed her to Lin Xian'er.

Lin Xian'er took the baby with her weak arms and looked adoringly at her newborn daughter with a tired but gentle smile. It was probably one of the most beautiful smile she could muster in her whole life.

She lovingly kissed the baby's forehead and whispered something with tears brimming in her eyes. "Rongrong… my baby…"

Everyone in the room watched this scene with mixed emotions—joy and gratitude for the successful birth of the sect's youngest princess, but also sorrow for Lin Xian'er's condition.

"I'm sorry Dear… sob Husband… if only my cultivation was higher… sob"

One of the concubines murmured to Ning Fengzhi, tears flowing from her eyes. She was also one of the best healers available in the clan. A level 73 spirit saint healer.

"It's okay… It's not your fault… If only I had taken precautions and prepared for some loss, we could have invited someone from the Nine Heart Begonia Family, even though we're rivals…"

Ning Fengzhi replied with a tinge of regret in his tone. But it was too late, nothing could salvage the situation now.

Lin Xian'er lifted her head and smiled at the group as if she had overheard their conversation despite her weakened state.

"I'm sorry sisters… Can I have some time alone with Fengzhi?"

The concubines nodded and left the room, with Ning Haiyan following them.

"Hehe… not you Haiyan, come here," Lin Xian'er laughed weakly and stopped Haiyan from leaving.

She gazed at her husband and her sworn sister's son who was trying to hold back tears in his small eyes.

She handed her daughter to Ning Fengzhi and extended her hand toward Ning Haiyan. Understanding her gesture, Ning Haiyan came closer and grabbed her hand.

"To be honest… I'm kind of glad you never called us… mother and father… otherwise, it would be… even more hurtful for you at this moment," Lin Xian'er confessed to Ning Haiyan, with slight pauses in between.

Ning Haiyan tightened his grip on her hand, opened and closed his lips as if wanting to say something, but no words can came out.

Lin Xian'er smiled at his response and looked over at her husband.

"Sorry, Fengzhi… can I ask you to take care of them both?"

"No need to ask," Ning Fengzhi promised her, gazing at his wife with firm determination.

"Uh! I!... I will take care of Rongrong too! Therefore… you can… go at ease… mother," Ning Haiyan suddenly exclaimed with a shaky voice but determination in his words.

Both Ning Fengzhi and Lin Xian'er looked at him in surprise, moved by his words.

"Hmmh… Thank you Haiyan… chuckles. Today… It seems I gave birth to 2 children hehe…"

"No… not today… but ever since Mother Xian'er and Father Fengzhi took me in."

Lin Xian'er closed her eyes and smiled in relief at his words.

"Thank you… and sorry…"

Back to the present.

"Ugh…"

Ning Haiyan who had been sleeping on his bed, opened his eyes and sat up slowly with empty gaze

He still couldn't believe what he had just experienced.

The moment he fainted, Ning Haiyan actually experienced his past life memories which had been suppressed by his martial soul.

It gushed out and slowly merged with him since his martial soul awakening, causing headaches and even him fainting.

"You're up."

A soothing voice filled with majesty interrupted Ning Haiyan's thoughts. He turned his head and found Grandpa Sword sitting on his study desk, guarding him.

"Grandpa Sword…" he murmured.

"Hm. I will go call Fengzhi and the others. Don't strain yourself," Chen Xin stood up, walked beside Ning Haiyan, and patted his shoulder. Offering comfort while checking if there's something wrong.

"Thank you… I won't," Ning Haiyan replied.

As soon as Chen Xin left the room, Ning Haiyan relaxed his body and leaned against the headboard.

"Sigh…who am I now?? It turns out the world I have been living in these past years is a work of fiction from my past life…" Ning Haiyan mumbled, gazing at the ceiling.

He felt conflicted. Happy for being in this world and getting a second chance, but was that truly it?

If the Douluo World he once believed was fiction turned out to be real, what were the chances that his past world was also a fiction?

What if the life he will live in this world right now is also written by someone for entertainment?

Ning Haiyan stared intensely at the ceiling with a frown, as if he was trying to see if there was some screen behind the world.

His thoughts kept getting messier, and he didn't notice that the door was opened and a black-haired man with a gentle yet dignified aura came in.

"Haiyan, what's wrong?" Ning Fengzhi tapped Ning Haiyan's shoulder in worry.

Ning Haiyan's thoughts were abruptly interrupted, and he jerked up.

"Fa-father… so-sorry, I was just lost in thought."

Ning Fengzhi asked, "How are you feeling now?"

"I'm fine. If anything, I just feel a bit tired right now," Ning Haiyan replied with a wry smile.

"That's good. You can rest as long as you want. Your meals for the day will be delivered to your room," Ning Fengzhi explained, while gently rubbing his son's hair.

"Hm… thank you father…"

"Before I forget," Ning Fengzhi said while taking out a silver slim bracelet with a circle of light blue color on it.

"Here you go, your spatial storage soul guide. It has space… roughly as big as your room. I have put in things that you need here. Check it out after you get enough rest okay? And congratulations for your awakening."

Ning Fengzhi gave the bracelet to Ning Haiyan and smiled before leaving the room.

He looked at Ning Fengzhi's back before turning his attention to the bracelet he had just received.

Curiosity and excitement filled his eyes.

No matter what, he doesn't have any way to know the answer to his thoughts, isn't it better to enjoy his current life rather than worry about something uncertain?

"Oh wait… Father doesn't tell me how to operate this," Ning Haiyan muttered while scratching his head in confusion.

"Let's try to move it with the energy I felt in my body for now… spirit power is it?"

Ning Haiyan channeled some of his spirit power to the bracelet and discovered a few cards, two books, and a pouch filled with golden coins inside.

"These cards… should be some kind of a bank card in this world right? Golden coins, just in case I need some liquid fund, and… what are these books…"

Ning Haiyan took out the books and read their titles.

"Spirit Meditation and… Heart Separation Control."

"This should be my beginner gift pack then," Ning Haiyan chuckled, trying to lighten the weight of his situation.
