Chapter 155: Enjoy the Show

Inside the Eagle Fortress, Lox, once full of youthful vigor, now appeared as if he had aged several decades. Half of his hair had turned completely white, and his eyes were filled with weariness.

Initially, he had devised a cunning plan to wipe out the army of Camelot entirely. However, the emergence of that knight order shattered all of his hopes.

Reflecting on the way that knight order effortlessly maneuvered on the battlefield, a deep-seated fear involuntarily crept into his heart. Occasionally, in the dead of night, he would be startled awake, feeling his pillow dampened with cold sweat.

—Those people are not human at all. They're devils from hell, monsters sent by the gods to punish humanity!

A soldier who had witnessed the scene expressed that sentiment.

Although Lox quickly threw the soldier to be eaten by the Chimera, deep down, he harbored the same thoughts. That knight order was not an entity that mortals could contend with.

"Commander! Commander!"

As Lox pondered, a soldier rushed in from outside.

The series of defeats had made Lox increasingly sensitive. Seeing the soldier in such a hurry, a hint of anxiety immediately flashed in his heart.

"What's going on?! Has Camelot attacked again?!" Lox asked hastily.

"N-No!" The soldier gasped for breath. "T-They're retreating, Sir!"

"What?!"

Lox was shocked and immediately stood up, running out of the room towards the outside.

On top of the fortress, he gazed at the Camelot army in the distance, realizing that they were indeed gradually moving backward.

"What's going on?" Lox was puzzled. "What trick is Camelot playing now?"

"Sir, could it be reinforcements from the North coming to support us?" His adjutant suggested.

"Impossible. If it were reinforcements, they would have contacted me in advance." Lox argued firmly.

"But what if?!" The adjutant was somewhat excited. "Sir, this is a rare opportunity. If we take the initiative now, we can likely break through!"

Anyone who had been on the battlefield knew that retreating in the face of the enemy was a grave mistake. If the enemy attacked at this moment, it could easily lead to a complete defeat.

With over twenty thousand soldiers and the existence of Phantasmal Species, even if they couldn't annihilate the army of Camelot, at the very least, breaking through would be no problem.

Lox contemplated in silence. Could it be that the enemy was luring them in?

Recalling the terrifying knight order, a shiver ran down his spine.

"Don't be fooled! This is definitely an enemy scheme! They want to deceive us at this opportunity and then capture us all! Spread the word, without my orders, no one is allowed to step out of the Eagle Fortress! We just need to hold our ground and wait for reinforcements from the North to help us!" Lox gave the order without hesitation.

"But—"

"Enough of the 'buts'! Do you think my command is flawed?!" Lox stared at his adjutant like an enraged lion.

"No, Sir..."

"Then obey the orders!"

"Yes, Sir!"

The adjutant walked away about ten meters, glanced back at Lox's back, then sighed and shook his head before turning away.

"Even after withdrawing right in front of their faces, the commander hasn't reacted at all. This commander is seriously spineless." Yulina said indignantly while crossing her arms and wearing a scornful expression.

Bedivere nodded in agreement, relieved that the enemy forces didn't seize the opportunity to make a desperate move. Instead, they just watched as they pulled back.

It seemed like the mentality of the enemy commander had completely shattered.

Bedivere looked at his king with admiration. Was this also within the king's expectations?

"Seriously, aren't they planning to come out?" Arkhan raised an eyebrow, looking at the fortress perched on the mountain in the distance. "Well, whether they come out or not, it doesn't matter. Being together makes it easier to handle."

He turned to the black-dressed woman beside him.

"It's up to you now."

"I'm not your servant. Why should I listen to you?" Nidhogg rolled her eyes.

"Have you forgotten the bet we made at the beginning? As long as I can train an army capable of killing gods, you'll be my servant for ten years." Arkhan pointed behind him at the group of knights. "Since you lost, it's time to fulfill the wager."

Watching the three hundred humans wielding the Key of Domination, Nidhogg shivered slightly and grumbled.

"Damn it, I knew I shouldn't have believed your nonsense."

She stepped forward, and her body suddenly emitted a dazzling black light. The radiance gradually rose into the sky, resembling a rising black sun.

"What's that?!"

Lox, standing on top of the fortress, looked at the black sun and felt a sudden sense of impending danger.

In front of thousands of eyes, a tail covered in black scales, as sturdy as a giant tree, swayed out from the black sun. Following that were a pair of wings, five hundred meters long, like wings of darkness hanging from the sky. Then came four robust and powerful legs, with dark claws gleaming with a cold edge. Finally, the monstrous body, as if cast from molten iron, emerged, and lastly, the ferocious head appeared before everyone.

*ROARRRRRR—!*

The giant beast that emerged from the black sun roared, sending visible shockwaves spreading out, instantly dispersing all clouds within a five-mile radius.

The scene fell silent for a moment as everyone looked up, staring in shock at the colossal figure that seemed to have walked out of mythology like a demon.

Until, at a certain moment, a scream pierced the air.

"A dragon!"

People snapped out of their daze, and then the excitement erupted!

"Oh my god, am I dreaming? That's really a dragon?! A real dragon?!"

"It's unbelievable! I swear on John's grandma's apple pie, this is the first time I've seen a real dragon!"

"This is incredible! Camelot finally has its own dragon!"

"Your Majesty, what in the world is that dragon..." After a brief astonishment, Bedivere and the others turned their gaze to Arkhan.

"We'll discuss the details later." Arkhan said with a calm smile and crossed his hands on his chest leisurely. "For now, let's enjoy the show."
