Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Divorce

After leaving City Hall, Victoria put away her divorce certificate carefully and politely declined Peyton's offer to give her one last ride home.

The woman looked amazing today, wearing a white blouse with lace cuffs and a black bodycon skirt that flaunted her slender, fair legs. Her curvaceous figure had already caught the attention of many passing men.

Peyton sat in the passenger seat of the Maybach, feeling an inexplicable tightness in his chest as he looked at her emotionless face.

There seemed to be a heavy weight on his heart.

He had assumed that Victoria was just pretending to be strong yesterday by putting on an indifferent facade. However, ever since they entered City Hall today and then left, he hadn't noticed any fluctuations in her emotions.

She even dressed so flamboyantly and unrestrainedly, which was completely different from her usual traditional and conservative style.

The two of them merely got a divorce, yet her entire demeanor changed.

"It's rush hour now, so it's not easy to get a cab," Peyton remarked with a displeased expression.

Victoria, standing outside the car door, glanced at him in surprise. "Who said I was taking a cab?"

This time, his eyebrows were wholly furrowed as he wanted to sneer.

If she isn't taking a taxi, is she taking the subway instead? As a pampered idle person, she probably doesn't even have an idea how to buy a subway ticket.

Soon, a red convertible Ferrari pulled up in front of the Maybach, and the man in the Ferrari took off his sunglasses, revealing a handsome and roguish face.

The man smiled at Victoria, his voice filled with delight as he called out, "Victoria, get in the car! Let's go to Darlington to celebrate your divorce!"

Victoria took a gander at Peyton. "Sorry, Mr. Rollins. My friend has come to pick me up."

With that, she stepped forward and opened the door of the Ferrari, and the car then sped off, leaving nothing but dust behind.

Peyton's face immediately turned gloomy and ashen as he sat in his car.

His chest felt stuffy and scalded - as if a scorched boulder was pressing down on him - from both Victoria's cold and distant "Mr. Rollins" and her friend who suddenly appeared in a Ferrari.

How have I never known that she has such a male friend who appears to be close with her in our three years of marriage?

Furthermore, the man said they were going to Darlington to celebrate.

Darlington, the largest racing circuit in the country, was where the world's top race car drivers competed.

Peyton's handsome face exhibited an ever-changing mix of emotions. As he recalled the words of that man from earlier, his tongue pressed against his teeth, and he laughed out of sheer anger.

Celebrate? Great. I'd like to see how they're going to celebrate in Darlington.

"Follow them to Darlington," he ordered the driver frigidly.

...

In the red Ferrari, Paul Murphy, still feeling somewhat skeptical, glanced at Victoria, who was playing with her phone in the passenger seat.

"So the marriage's really over just like that? You were married to Peyton for three years. Don't you have any real feelings for him?" he asked tentatively.

"I'm not that dumb."

She flashed a faint, humorless smile.

Back then, when she married Peyton, it was merely a matter of mutual benefit. He had needed a wife to ward off his annoying admirers, while she, on the other hand, needed a place to hide away for three years.

Both of them understood that no matter how much they respected each other in their daily lives, they were not a real loving married couple.

Rather, they were purely each other's pawns.

Paul tutted once. "Well, now that you've freed up the position of Mrs. Rollins, countless women will be overjoyed. The youngest entrepreneur on Forbes List and our country's real estate tycoon - just these two aspects of Peyton alone are enough to drive women crazy, not to mention his good looks..."

Peyton's face, with his exquisitely attractive features, was essentially a masterpiece. Both his physique and appearance were the cream of the crop. Had he been in the entertainment industry, he would undoubtedly be a megastar who could drive innumerable young girls crazy with infatuation just by showing his face, without the need for any work.

Victoria recalled the pale, ashen face of Peyton earlier before she got into the car and let out a light chuckle.

"Well, I don't think it's much to speak of."
