Chapter 45: In the middle of nowhere

Bian stepped out of the teleporter, he was in an enclosed space and could only see brown, there was wood all round him and an exit in front.

He walked through the only aperture, a vast forest greeted his sight. He looked back, an ancient towering tree, its bark was a thick brown and it's leaves, a faded yellow.

The teleporter was in this tree, he went around the island to survey his surroundings. No birds, critters or even insects. It was a completely lifeless island save for Bian. Enclosed on all sides by a vast ocean.

"Hmm" Bian began to ponder, now what?

He went to the shore of the island, the forest abruptly ended, water all around. It didn't look natural but rather like something sliced the out an island and threw it into the ocean.

Bian looked into the water, there was a school of fish passing by.

"At least there's aquatic life." This was the only solace he could find to console himself.

Not foolish enough to jump head first into the ocean, he summoned the manticore.

A sacred-blood creature from first god sanctuary would only be as strong as a primitive creature in second god sanctuary.

The berserk sacred-blood feral manticore was stuck in an awkward position, stronger than primitive creatures but weaker than mutant creatures.

It dived into the ocean with nary a splash, killing dozens of fish in a single blow. The difficulty came with bringing back this fish. After some minutes of hunting, most fish had evacuated the area. Only some primitive fish dared to swim about since Bian instructed the manticore not to hunt them.

He looked at all the fish he had salvaged. At least four dozen fishes of different species lay about on the earthy ground.

Bian left the manticore to keep watch as he gutted out the fish, he made a big pot of fish soup. The average length of a fish was as a big as a human torso, but they were much slimmer.

[Flesh of ordinary creature scaled sardine eaten. One ordinary geno point gained]

...

Six days later, Bian had maxed out his ordinary geno points, with nourishing stomach he could eat three times more than an average man. He looked at the remains of the pot and the uncooked fish, without hesitation he poured them into the ocean.

The bloody scent attracted predators, most of which were primitive while a few were ordinary, once again the manticore got to work. In the bloodied ocean, no primitive creature could resist its onslaught.

RUMBLE!

A deep rumble came from beneath, a tall crab came to the surface and attacked the manticore.

Bian was quick to unsummon it, saving its life. The crab ate some fishes and remained around the area.

For days Bian hid behind the trees, he saw a swarm of piranhas attack the crab. The were definitely mutant creatures yet they couldn't bite through the shell of the crab.

The spider crab's full height on land towered a three storey building. It's sender legs were what elevated it to such a length.

Each of these legs, capable of delivering earth shattering thrusts. The body of the crab itself was not as big, the legs were akin to spears.

A four winged bird was once killed by its legs. Bian could barely see it strike, its leg speed was too astonishing.

The crab was oddly coloured, it had stripes of brown and black. The odd colour cleverly hid the metallic sheen of its shell.

Bian had not seen it use the pincers on the first two arms. The crab did not look like it would leave anytime soon.

"Since you don't want to leave, you're inviting yourself to an early death." Bian definitely wasn't going to run, since the crab didn't back down either he decided to kill it.

A first sanctuary super creature is only equivalent to a second sanctuary mutant creature, a berserk super creature from first god sanctuary could keep up with sacred-blood beasts from second god sanctuary.

The Holy angel is still evolving and the super Tyrant Minotaur would only be a strong mutant creature to the crab, with the berserk super black fanged snake dagger, he could kill it, if he was given the chance.

"If only there was a way to slow it down." Bian mused, he remembered the lightning rune.

"No it wasn't like that" Bian's memory of the lightning rune had been warped. He used mental point targeting instead to recall the rune.

As the image of the lightning rune surfaced in his mind, time seemed to slow to a crawl.

"That's it" Bian had a big brain moment. With the gene lock he opened, he could use mental point targeting during battles. The memory wouldn't affect his sight, it was an indescribable experience.

Initially Bian saw no use for this, but if he could use the lightning rune to slow time it would help in the midst of fast paced combat.

He ironically summoned the crab armor and went to battle with the crab, he exchanged the berserk super crystal ant armor to Han Yan for this domineering crab armor. He didn't have time to make the armor go berserk.

Bian didn't use his super body, he would be fighting in enemy territory. Until he could breathe in water or until he fought on land. The super body didn't enhance his physique.

Bian held the black fang snake dagger in a reverse grip, the image of the lightning rune surfaced in his mind, time seemed to slow to a crawl.

The crab noticed his brave or rather foolish frontal attack, it sent an arm to kill him. By underestimating Bian, the crab had unknowingly brought about it's downfall.

Very swiftly, Bian leaned to his side and severed the arm of the crab at a joint. An ungodly amount of blood and some other fluid spilled out of its injury.

In a rage, the crab attacked Bian. It's attack pattern simplified because of its rage, simple but not easy. With the use of the lightning rune and dongxuan movement, Bian managed to duck the crab's relentless assault.

The crab got slower as time passed, its injury which would normally heal in a few seconds remained for hours. It had lost too much blood, Bian took notice of this moment of weakness.

With sparticle and careful maneuvers, Bian sliced off its seven legs one by one. As the crab squirmed about unwillingly, Bian struck its head multiple times.

Clank! Clank!! Clank!!!

Bian lost count of the number of times he struck the head. Unlike the arms, the head had no weak spot, its eyes were covered under its shell. Eventually the carapace gave way and Bian took the kill.

[Sacred-blood creature amphibian spider-crab killed. No beast soul gained. Eat it's flesh to gain 0 to 10 sacred geno points randomly.]

"Finally" Bian cried out in relief. He took the carcass of the crab and it's eight legs inland where he cooked the meat. The fate of this beast was sealed once his dagger could make it bleed.

[Flesh of sacred-blood creature amphibian spider-crab eaten. One sacred geno point gained.]

...

After several days, he had finished eating the meat of the crab. The organs and shell of the crab were left, Bian gained five sacred geno points from it.

The crab had a weird pulmonary system, it used pressure in liquid to increase the speed of its legs, Bian took it's organs as bait.

He threw the heart into the ocean, barely a minute later and a mutant oyster came, gobbled it up and left. This happened in a single breath.

"Do oysters have meat?" Bian watched the purple oyster depart into the depths of the ocean, he adjusted his plans.

The second time, he attached some vines to an organ and threw it out. Before ordinary creatures could swarm around the meat a 20 feet long silver barracuda swam towards it.

Bian pulled the meat towards the island and the silver barracuda follow suit. With a burst of speed, it swallowed the meat in one bite.

"Here goes nothing" Bian descended from the sky like an angel of death, nearly severing the silver barracuda in half.

The silver barracuda swam about in a panic, Bian held onto its torso using ghosthaunt. He crawled up to its head and stabbed into the eye.

[Mutant creature silver-scaled beast killed. No beast soul gained. Eat the flesh to gain 0 to 10 mutant geno points randomly.]

Not disheartened by the lack of beast souls, Bian swam back to the island with the body of the mutant barracuda.

[Flesh of mutant creature silver-scaled beast eaten. One mutant geno point gained.]

"Woah, this texture is amazing." The mutant crab might have tasted better but the texture of the silver barracuda was unique.

After he finished the silver barracuda, the manticore was combat ready again. It was not too severely injured, Bian decided to use the unpalatable parts of the silver barracuda to draw in prey.

[Required for evolution: 100 geno points

Geno points gained: 100 ordinary geno points; 6 mutant geno points; 5 sacred geno points.]
