Chapter 58: I Quit
A spirit in white armor, appeared and knelt before Bian.
"I Fencing spirit am willing to show fealty to my master" Fencing spirit said.
"Do you feel forced to serve?" Bian asked.
"No, I lost fair and square to your companion. My grace dry and my power lacking, I hope to serve a strong master so that one day i may also be strong." Fencing spirit responded.
'If I use underhanded means to get the spirit stones, will I still gain their loyalty?' Bian thought.
He walked to Fencing spirit and placed the spirit stone in his head. Fencing spirit turned into a stream of light and went into Bian's sea of soul.
"So you also automatically gain spirits." Han Yan defeated snow charmer in white-snow shelter. She did not gain the spirit.
"Not necessarily" even Bian wasn't sure how his powers worked. He fed the 14 sacred-blood creatures to the Tyrant Minotaur. The two marble snakes had flesh underneath their stone like skin.
They weren't too big, although they were ridiculously long. Bian and Han Yan took one each. After some days of searching they found no other isolated islands. Bian gained eight sacred geno points from the snake bringing his tally up to twenty-one.
They returned to white-snow shelter where Queen and her crew awaited them. Tyrant didn't look too happy to see Bian, or maybe that was just his imagination.
After checking up on the situation back in the alliance, Bian and Han Yan went on their first super hunt with Queen and her team.
"Follow the instructions and try not to get yourself killed" Queen said to Bian. Although his skills were top notch his fitness was quite low.
They sailed across the sea on different beasts, Bian sat on the back of Han Yan's mount. With the silver fox on board, they didn't have to worry about attacks.
Sky Jealousy briefed them on the mission.
"We lost some members earlier due to a crazy strong beast that breathed fire in the ocean." When she said this, Horny Old Man seemed to be in a foul mood.
"The island were going to has an incredibly strong white tiger. You guys are to keep the smaller creatures away." Sky Jealousy only said some necessarily important components for the mission.
They had already formulated a plan, Bian and Han Yan wouldn't get involved in the fight and likewise wouldn't gain any potential benefits, they would be compensated instead.
Bian soon spotted an island on the horizon. Several hills were clearly visible from miles away.
"Get ready" Queen reminded them.
"Keep the small fries away with that fox of yours. We will handle the head honcho" Horny Old Man gave a wink to Han Yan. He was quick to face his front as an unbelievable amount of bloodlust surrounded him in an instant.
'This Bian fellow really values his babe' Horny Old Man sighed.
On the island, no creatures were present, they all ran and hid once the silver fox was near.
A frightening roar came from the hills and a 4 meter long white tiger ran towards them. The tiger seemed to be running on the wind as it gained towards them at astonishing speed.
"I will block the first hit!" Tyrant summoned a sacred-blood shield, in an instant a huge shield appeared in his hand.
He ran forward to intercept the tiger. With a slash of its claws, a gust of wind was sent towards Tyrant.
'Impossible' Tyrant was left in awe as the sacred-blood shield shattered before his eyes. His left hand was bleeding from the shock of the Tiger's attack.
"Plan C!" Queen hastily yelled. It looks like the gap between them and the white tiger was greater than they thought.
Tyrant summoned a heavy lance, his body was surrounded in a golden glow. He attacked the tiger with a heavy thrust.
Lazy Cat was incredibly fast and nimble, she harnessed the power of the wind like the tiger. With a pair of daggers, she rushed towards the right of the tiger.
Sky Jealousy brought out a sword as thin as a cicada wing. With a mighty swing from her sword, an ice beam was projected towards the Tiger.
Horny old man was illuminated in a white glow. He slashed out with his arms and an X energy beam flew towards the Tiger.
All the while Queen, surrounded in a purple light drew the aggression of the tiger away from the team. Although she was slower than the Tiger, she moved with a certain poise in her steps that enabled her dodge its attacks.
'Heavenly Go and dongxuan sutra are different means to an end.' Bian used the dongxuan sutra to watch her lifeforce circulate. He also utilized the lightning rune to watch it with clarity when the need arises.
'One movement technique isn't particularly better than the other. The dongxuan movement can further be enhanced by the Heavenly Go.' Bian was the only person feeling happy right now.
Their all out attacks on the tiger were deflected at the last moment. A thin layer of wind surrounded the tiger and redirected all attacks sent towards it.
"Run!" Everyone made a run for it while Bian stood still. He watched as Queen avoided the tiger, her very life on the line. She used Heavenly Go to its maximum potential.
"Come on let's go." Lazy Cat shouted once she saw Bian wasn't following.
"Oh, no need to worry about him." Han Yan said and stood by his side.
"I order you to fall back" Sky Jealousy said.
"I Quit!" Bian responded hastily. He had to learn as much as he could from Queen before he went to help her out.
Sky Jealousy managed to force Lazy Cat to retreat. "Be careful!" Lazy Cat yelled before running.
Bian summoned the golden growler and rode towards the spot on the shore where Queen would arrive. He watched the tiger as it tried to kill Queen, it shouldn't be berserk so the manticore would be able to kill it.
As he observed the Tiger he memorized the life-force as it circulated round its body. This tiger seemed to be a second generation super creature.
"Oh she's almost here" Queen was less than 10 meters away from Bian. She didn't have the energy to think of what Bian could be plotting as she hastily ran for her life.
"Queen, no hard feelings. I quit!" Bian said before he summoned the Emperor Manticore. The manticore didn't fly and attack the tiger as Bian expected.
Instead it posed its stinger to face the Tiger, A dark purple light gathered on it. Queen and the Tiger sensed the incoming danger at the same time.
Queen hurriedly jumped to the side as a dark-purple laser beam passed the place she was in a moment ago. The tiger was also quick to evade, the dark-purple laser hit its arm instead of its head.
The tiger whimpered a bit, before running away with its tail between its legs, it was well aware that the manticore was stronger than it.
Bian was startled by its complete change from aggression to cowardice, the manticore gave chase to this scaredy cat, with Bian following behind.
Han Yan came to Queen to help her, although she wasn't severely injured she had overexerted herself. Queen knew Han Yan had tacitly prevented her from following Bian.
Bian rode on the golden growler in the direction the tiger fled. He told the manticore not to kill it as that wouldn't guarantee him a beast soul.
Bian walked up to the Emperor Manticore, an injured Tiger was firmly planted under its feet. The berserk sacred-blood katana appeared in his hand as he observed the tiger.
Multiple spots on its skin had turned a dark purple. It's left leg was missing, it had a green liquid around the injured area.
The tiger squirmed with all it's might, but couldn't throw off the manticore. It was firmly held in place as Bian approached as stabbed the katana directly into its injured chest.
The poison had exposed its ribcage but the katana couldn't pierce it in a single strike.
"Well if the first time doesn't work, the hundredth time will." Bian kept striking at its ribcage, the poison had already weakened its bones, but a super creature was not so easy to slay.
After severally slashing at the metal like bones countless times, the katana finally went through a significant gap and pierced the heart of the Tiger.

Needless to say Bian activated his empirical will whenever he was fighting sacred-blood and most especially super creatures.
A beast soul aura was incredibly rare and sought after. They could increase the function of all other beast souls around them.
Swords would get sharper, shields would get tougher and shapeshifting beast souls would bring their users more power. Bian was quite satisfied with his gain.
