Chapter 8: Expansion

Satisfied with the lobby for now Mary left the building and returned  outside and started waiting for her mana to regenerate as she wandered around the building taking a more focused look at the details of the building. Once her mana was full again she focused on the building envisioning it expanding and adding a new floor. The resort seemed to swell slightly before new wood, stone and other material began to grown out and form into a second floor, once again creating a gorgeous and majestic sight before the ravages of time seemed to take hold in a matter of seconds as it assumed the appearance of the rest of the hotel. section of wall she had decided would be the stairs to the next floor. Since she was expanding from the base rather than creating something new from nothing the mana drain while still significant still lefter her with half her mana. Returning inside Mary looked to the wall where she wanted the step to the next floor to begin.

Infusing mana into the wall Mary willed it to transform into steps leading to the next floor. The wall began to gray and turn fuzzy looking before slowly falling to the ground as dust. The dust the blew inwards into the stairwell as it began assembling itself into steps. At this point Mary had an idea and with a flex of her mind the dust reshuffled itself into steps looking as if they were made from sun bleached driftwood. Rather then make a square the steps rose up in a circular pattern, the pale wood giving the impression of bones sticking out of the wall in the gloomily lit stairwell. At the top was an enclosed landing with a large wooden door looking as if it was ripped from the wall of a nobles ship. The door was fitted with gold filigree making it look like a piece of art than door way to a potential death.

Beyond the door was a long hallway with door on either side of the corridor, the hallway dilapidated but still showing hint of past splendor with it equiset yet moldy carpet, artistic and faded paintings, cracked and worn crystal lights. Right in the middle of the hallway Mary placed a small sign with a message on it for future adventurers.

Ten rooms to pass, Ten dooms to overcome, yet more a reward may yield.

A rather simple thing in mary's mind, but she had never felt herself much a word-smith otherwise she'd have asked her parents to allow her to become a scholar instead of a maid. It's meaning was rather simple to pass the floor and move on one had to clear at least 10 of the rooms, but if they cleared more beyond that they would have a higher chance of getting loot. Once again it was rather simple, but if being raised in a merchant family had taught her anything it was that people will always try to go for what seems like easy money even if it was seemingly foolish or outright suspicious.

Moving on to the first room Marr looked around as she considered what to change and keep. The room was rather large at roughly 150 square meters. The furniture while decrepit still showed its extravagance with golden filigree and the bed even having a frame made entirely of now tarnished silver. A large floor to ceiling window overlooked the sea far down below the cliff. Though faded the room was colored a soft blue and warm reddish yellow, looking like the sunrise upon the ocean. However its beauty was marred by torn carpets, peeling paint and crumbling walls. If it weren't for the fact the one couldn't remove the items from the dungeon just the gold and silver in the room could make someone a very wealthy individual.

Mentally nodding her head she moved on to the next room noting that while head had similar levels of luxury but different kinds of dilapidation. Some had broken windows with the rooms looking as if they were exposed to the wind and rain for year some covered in moss and even mushrooms. Others looked as is there were a massacre in the form of some twisted ritual as runes and symbols were scrawled all over the rooms. Each room almost seemed to be telling their own story as to what happened in them. Finally Mary reached the 21th room at the end of the hall, this one situated at on the far wall rather then on either side of the corridor. Rather then entering Mary changed the door to a wide ornate ebony double door with green emerald inlays scrawled along it like vines. The door handles were two large pearls each the size of a fist. Despite the disrepair of the rest of the hotel, the door looked as if it had just been installed that day.

Beyond the door was a large stately oval library, three floors tall. Each shelve was full of various books from dictionaries to romance and even what appeared to be grimoires lining the shelves. All around the main floor were tables stacked high with books both open and closed. At the back was a large desk that had small lamps on each side and several filing cabinets behind it. Mary modeled it after the public library in her home-town, though much smaller. At each side in the back corners were small spiral stair-cases leading up and down both upper floors. On each level was a rolling ladder hooked into the walls for access to all the shelves. The entire library was lite by 3 large candle lit chandeliers. The candles were made of black wax that gave off a bluish smoke that lightly filled the whole library. With the final addition of the floor finished Mary's mana was almost at 0 meaning she would need to wait a bit before she filled out and altered the floor.

Having gone through the entire floor Mary was quite please with the general layout and size of everything. Naturally she was especially pleased with the library as it was something most created by she herself rather then by the information given by the template. It helped that she spent quite a bit of time in the library back home though, Mary sighed softly as her thoughts turned back to home and how it was quite unlikely she would never see her family again. Reminiscing for a few moments she pushed those thoughts and feelings away as she got back to going over her plans for the floor as she waited for her mana to regenerate.
