Chapter 16: When has kids requests ever made sense?

Alex's POV:

I now understand what made me fall in love with Olivia at first sight; it was her crazy behavior, but I still couldn't believe she got into a Coyle Adams car.

I hated the sight of that man, and as a man, I knew he was hitting on her. I was about to go see Orlene when the fixed phone rang.

I walked towards it and was about to pick it up when it stopped. I turned to leave when it rang again. With a frown, I placed the phone by my ear.

"Olivia, I am sorry about today... Don't mind the words I said I was just worried," a voice echoed from the other side, and I furrowed my brow. Olivia walked to the sitting room, and I signaled the phone to her. She was confused and walked closer to me. I placed the phone by her ear as I glared at her expression.

"Olivia," the person called out, and her eyes widened in shock.

"Wrong number, haha. You must mean another Olivia. I am Olivia Clarke," she said, about to press the hang-up button when I held her hand. Now I know that voice; it wasn't Coyle. It was Caleb; I can't believe she met with him.

"What are you saying? Are you still upset with me? Baby?" he asked, and my eyes widened in shock. I clenched the phone tightly before shooting it at the wall.

"Why did you meet with him?" I tried controlling my anger because I knew it wouldn't do any good.

"I… You can't get angry because I met with my fiance; you forcefully married me, but it's him I love," she blurted, and I couldn't believe she had the guts to tell me that.

"You are my wife, Olivia Clarke; get that into your head."

"But I didn't ask to be your wife; just let me go," she said as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Is it that hard for you to accept me?" I asked in disbelief. I was willing to give her everything she wanted, but she had to cuckold me.

"The heart wants what it wants," she replied firmly, and I nodded. That's true. The heart wants what it wants, and my heart wants her.

"I forbid you from meeting with Caleb, and you better not disobey me," I said angrily, and she shivered in fear. Seeing her tears melted my heart, but I was angrier at Caleb. How dare he meet up with my wife?

"Alex," a small voice echoed, and we both turned our heads to see Bruno pushing Orlene towards us.

"Let's eat." I took Bruno's place in pushing Orlene to the table; the maid Ellen had already served the table.

I glanced at Olivia, who stayed unmoved; maybe I was too harsh earlier and she must have gotten scared. "Olivia," I called, she wiped her tears before joining us.

"Brother, why did you get married? Jenna won't be happy about this." Orlene said, and I sneered. Jenna was my stepmom. She was one of the celebrities my dad signed into his entertainment industry. After my mom died, she became my dad's wife.

"Eat," I said and glanced at Olivia, who wasn't eating. It seems my actions got to her, and I need to fix it. I want her to love me and not hate me.

From Olivia's POV:

I sat there with a dull look as I tried to contemplate if this Jenna was his girlfriend; if yes, then there would be trouble when she found out about me. Well, Mr. Bennett must love her so much since his sister knows about her, so he will accept to divorce me immediately after she shows up.

"Olivia" was brought out of my thoughts when called by Orlene. I glared at her as she shoved her phone toward me.

"As you see, I am unable to walk, so since we live in the same house, can I get your contact information?"To call in times of emergency," she said, and I was about to type in my number when I recalled that my phone was bad.

"You don't want to?" she asked after noticing the hesitation on my face. Her expression became sad, and I didn't want to offend the kid.

"No, just my phone got bad," I said and I could feel Mr. Bennett's gaze on me. Why was he staring at me?

"So you don't have a phone? Brother, are you that stingy?" She turned towards Mr. Bennett, who didn't pay attention to her or me anymore.

Then he stood up and said, "I came back to welcome you as you wished; now I need to return to the office." He picked up his phone and jacket before walking out of the sitting room.

I sighed heavily; luckily, he was gone, and I could breathe in relief. I can't believe Caleb called me through the fixed phone; I called him with it once, so he should have understood.

Now that Mr. Bennett was gone, I ate to my heart's content and turned to Orlene, who ate just a little. Why were they used to eating very little food?

"I will go to my room," Orlene said, and Ellen hurried towards her. She held her wheelchair about to push her when she raised her hand, signaling that she should stop.

"Olivia, you should take me," she said, and I nodded. Ellen took a step backward as I held the handle and pushed her to the elevator. I don't know why she wanted me to push her, but when have kids' requests ever made sense?

We got into the elevator, and the button was below her level. She pressed it, and we waited for some seconds before it stopped and the door opened.

To my surprise, we were in her bedroom already. This was the room upstairs with a big door, so it was her room.

"I want to sit there," she said, pointing at the couch. I pushed her close to the couch before lifting her up and gently placing her on the couch.

Seeing that she was comfortable, I turned to leave through the elevator. "Olivia," she called, and I walked back towards her with a smile.

"Do you know the secret behind names that start with O?" She asked, and I shook my head in negativity. Was there a secret to that?

"They have a dark past that they don't want to remember, and they also have problems with their personal lives... But do you know they experience the best love life?" She asked, and I chuckled.

She was right about the dark past and personal lives, but who loves life best? I was experiencing that till Mr. Bennett showed up.

"Your name starts with O; do you mean you have a dark past?" I couldn't help but wonder how a kid who is barely ten years old has a dark past.

She smiled brightly before staring at the TV screen that was installed in her room. Her brother did everything to make her comfortable.

I sighed and turned to leave. "Olivia," she called again, and I turned towards her; it was like she didn't want me to leave.
