Chapter 21: Nen, Part 1

Author's Note: This work has received major editing(compared to the other work) and has been reposted, do note that the original work is also mine though(Limitless Chat Group in the multiverse). Starting from chapter 7, it's all completely new content. I also figured out that, instead of posting every day and burning myself out juggling between writing and the rest of my life, I could get a release schedule... so here it is:

Release Schedule:

-Every Tuesday

-Every Friday

-Every Sunday

Extra Power Stones and I'll release extra chapters!!

thx 4 all the support! (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

A few days later:

On the 180th Floor, all three members of the group chat had gathered, waiting for Cillian to debrief them.

"This morning, while both of you were having your matches, Mr. Sonnen sent me the mysterious man's reply. Apparently, although he didn't give confirmation, he's willing to meet up, saying that it'd be interesting to talk to the Arena's new phenomena."

Mereoleona then expressed her concerns:

"Cillian, are you sure he doesn't have any bad intentions? Although I kind of trust you right now, there's no way of knowing what "that" man will do."

Cillian reassured:

"I understand what you're trying to say. If someone who doesn't have our best interests in mind teaches us something new, especially something as fundamental as controlling one's own vital energy, it could have disastrous consequences. But if it's the person I have in mind, we'll have very little to worry about. If you're still bothered, keep in mind that if everyone awakens separately, we can take turns keeping tabs on the enigmatic man and protecting the one undergoing the initial learning process."

Zoro added:

"I agree. If he tries anything... I'll cut him!"

Cillian continued with his debriefing:

"Anyway, we'll meet him this evening in an apartment in the city, okay?"

"Sure" x2

...

That evening:

Right outside the address that Chad Sonnen had sent, Cillian, Mereoleona, and Zoro had just arrived.

Each at their own pace, all the group chat members arrived at the apartment building's entrance, waiting for the arranged signal that indicated their entry confirmation. Suddenly, a slight tremor occurred, and the apartment building's doors opened.

Having received confirmation, the trio immediately headed towards the mysterious man's apartment.

[Report: A potential "Unorthodox Group Chat Member" in the vicinity.]

'Just as I thought, it's him, right, Great Sage?!'

[Affirmative. The individual positioned in front of the master is the potential 'Unorthodox Group Chat Member']

'I knew it!'

Right outside the apartment's entrance, a young man, average in both height and build, was waiting for the group chat members. Although at first, the man emitted an aura that exuded authority, upon closer examination of his appearance, the young man had unkempt black hair, slightly tilted glasses, a light pink shirt worn inside out, and a pair of white shoes that were poorly tied.

Having observed the contrast as well, Mereoleona and Zoro were both a bit flabbergasted. Quickly recovering from her astonishment, Mereoleona initiated the conversation and asked while wearing a battle-frenzied expression:

"Nice to meet you. I'm Mereoleona Vermillion. How about we get straight to the point... teach us nen!"

'This guy's seriously strong. He gives off the same vibes as a magic squad vice-captain!'

With a carefree smile, the mysterious man replied:

"Nice to meet you, Mereoleona. How about we enter first? Oh, yeah... you can call me Wing."

'That confirms it. I seriously doubted that there was such an empathetic person on the 200th floor that hadn't been introduced in the series or manga. So it really was him, how does he fulfil the criteria for being a potential group chat member?...'

[Report: That information is not present in current data base.]

'It seems like even Great Sage, who's fused with the group chat and has my admin privileges, doesn't have access to that kind of information.'

Before anyone else could answer, Cillian replied:

"Sure, Wing. Let's talk more inside."

...

On the way to the apartment's living room, Wing was casually assessing his guests, and to his astonishment:

'All three of them have extremely strong auras. Their nen reserves are the highest I've ever seen in an unawakened person, surpassing even a few hunters who've already learned about nen. On top of it, all three of them manipulate nen subconsciously. They're all monsters!'

With a regretful expression, Wing immediately restarted the conversation rejecting the trio:

"Unfortunately, although the three of you look very promising, you're all plenty strong, and besides, I've already got a student."

Before Mereoleona could explode, Cillian negotiated:

"I understand. There's no need to reject us in such a roundabout way, although we haven't passed the official hunter exam, I believe that we're more than qualified to receive further guidance. Moreover, we have to reach the 200th floor; there's no way around it."

'How does he know I'm Heaven's Arena true hunter exam's test proctor?'

Extremely surprised that Cillian knew his true identity, Wing instinctively released his ren and demanded:

"How do you know that?!"

Not backing down, Mereoleona released her fiery mana targeting Wing. Suddenly, before it could escalate any further, Wing felt a cold steel blade press against his neck. Looking at the sword's owner, Wing only noticed then that Zoro had approached him.

'How did he get past my En?! I'm certain they were within my range. Fortunately, I activated Sho on time, so even if he'd swung, I'd've been prepared.'

Interrupting any further wild thoughts, Cillian asked:

"Don't worry, I'm sure Wing didn't mean any harm, right?"

"Yeah..."

Having heard the truthful tone in the man's confirmation, Zoro sheathed his sword and sat back down.

"Listen, Wing, we really don't mean to force you. If you reject us, we'll simply find someone else or head straight to the 200th floor."

"I don't think you understand. Although you've miraculously reached this level of strength without knowing how to manipulate nen, it's really difficult to survive on the 200th floor with no nen knowledge without being either extremely talented, supremely lucky, or both."

Interrupting Wing once again, Mereoleona stated:

"I guess you just have to teach us then. I'm sure we'll pick it up quickly!"

'Even if it goes against the association's orders... I really can't bear seeing such bright geniuses fall.'

*Sigh* "Please don't report me to the Hunter Association..."

One step closer to learning nen, something he could only dream about a few months ago, Cillian released a slight but warm smile.

"That's the last thing we'd do. I'm glad we see eye to eye, Wing."

Feeling Cillian's detached but sincere emotions, Wing reciprocated Cillian's smile and asked with newfound motivation:

"Since it's already been decided, let's start right away!

Firstly, I have to know whether you all prefer a guaranteed awakening in a few months by a process called meditation or via initiation, a risky, but extremely fast, awakening. Keep in mind that the latter's danger is also associated, therefore dependent on, the nen master that would perform the awakening, in this case, me."

Unanimously, even with different reasons for choosing the same option, the three members of the group chat replied simultaneously:

"I'll do the initiation!" x3
