Chapter 11: Dangerous Thoughts

The vast sky was a deep blue when the peaceful night finally came to an end. Slowly, the light of the suns began to break through the darkness, and with it came the sound of rain.

The raindrops fell rapidly, striking the beast lands like millions of tiny drumbeats. Water dripped from the edges of the trees and plants, sounding like a natural rainstick.

The trees and plants in the forest swayed in the heavy rain, their leaves violently rustling as the rain washed away the night's moisture and the sound of the rain was almost too loud to bear.

Daisy stood at a corner, looking at the heavy rain outside through the cave's opening and let out a disappointed sigh.

Since last night, she had been looking forward to visiting the village mentioned by Leif. But when she woke up this morning, she was welcomed by the heavy rain.

She extended her hand outside the cave, and the rain began to fall onto her outstretched hand. Her hand shook slightly from the cold rainwater dripping onto her skin, and the raindrops bounced off her slender fingers, creating tiny droplets.

She stood there silently, her eyes closed and her face turned upwards to the sky. She loved the feeling of rain on her skin, the smell of the wet land, and the sound of raindrops beating against the trees.

Although she felt disappointed that she couldn't visit the village, it wasn't worth her time feeling sad about such things.

She might as well spend the day cleaning the cave and cooking a sumptuous meal for Leif and herself.

"You're going to get sick if you let the cold rain touch you," a harsh, yet worried voice suddenly sounded behind her.

Daisy opened her eyes as she felt the warmth of a cloth being draped over her shoulders. Clutching the animal cloak that Leif had warmed it beside the fire, she tilted her head to the side and replied with a soft smile, "you worry too much, Leif."

Leif looked away from her smile and stated in a taut voice, "don't think too much, I'm not worried about you a bit. I just don't want a female dying in my cave and ruining the place."

Daisy pursed her lips, trying to control the laughter that was threatening to spill out.

After their brief conversation last night, she realized that although Leif might appear cold and aloof on the outside, he was actually a kind person who cared for strangers like her.

"Thank you, Leif" she whispered with a small smile. "By any chance, Do you have any idea of when the rain might stop, Leif?" she asked while wrapping the cloak around her shoulders as a cold breeze blew through the cave. She shivered, but felt more comfortable with the warm cloak.

Leif indiscreetly moved in his place so that his body covered Daisy from the upcoming chilly wind.

He looked at the sky and saw the seemingly endless dark clouds, continuously sending heavy raindrops. It seemed like there was no sign of the rain stopping anytime soon.

"It might take a day or two for the rain to completely stop, and considering that the season for the rivers to be filled up is nearing, it might take a few more days, too," he stated calmly, his eyes briefly shining with a small grin on his face.

He was inwardly screaming in joy as he watched the heavy rain pour down. He had been thinking of an excuse to keep her with him for a few more days, and the rain had given him just that.

Even though he had promised Daisy to send her to the village, he was extremely unwilling to let her go.

He could use these days to get closer to her and make her agree to be his mate!

While Leif was in a good mood, Daisy was stunned by the bad news. She didn't expect the weather to be much worse than she initially thought.

"It's okay, atleast I'm safe here" she weakly mumbled, taking a deep breath and glancing at the dark clouds. She was glad that she got to meet Leif before it started to rain; otherwise, she would have been dying somewhere in the woods by now.

"The air is getting cold, you should get in and warm yourself," Leif suddenly said, turning to Daisy and trying to be as gentle as possible. His father had told him that females liked gentle beastmen, and he didn't want to scare her away by acting too harshly.

Daisy was taken aback by his sudden change of attitude and quickly realized that he might be feeling sorry that he couldn't take her to the village.

She let out a small laugh in amusement, finding him quite endearing.

"Alright," she obeyed, nodding.

"By the way, can I use your stone cauldron and other things in your cave? I would like to cook our breakfast today, please?" she asked, her hands clasped together with excitement.

Even though she had decided to live a fulfilling life without any restrictions, she retained the principles taught by her life experiences. Freeloading on others' kindness was something she would never do.

It took a while for Leif to respond as he found himself tongue-tied, lost in a daze of emotions as he saw her pitiful expression.

She looked so charming, the adorable expression on her face as she looked at him with those pitiful eyes. A thought occurred to him that she would look prettier with tears in those eyes.

He took a deep breath and replied gently, as if he had never even considered a dangerous thought, "You can do whatever you want here, Daisybug."

Daisy's eyes shone with excitement. "YES!" she squealed in delight.

Leif's heart skipped a beat at the sound of her silvery giggles, and he couldn't help but feel a warmth in his heart.

He was displeased with himself; how could he have had such thoughts?

When he looked at Daisy, he inevitably noticed the disheveled hairs at the top of her head and instinctively reached out to gently brush his fingers through her hair, feeling the soft texture of her locks as he leaned closer to her.

Her hair was unusually soft and smooth to touch, unlike the unkempt and rough hairs that most of the beastmen possessed.

As he rubbed her head, he began to love the way her hair felt beneath his rough fingers, feeling an addiction to her warm and soft scalp. It was as if he couldn't keep his hands off it.

Daisy blinked her eyes and looked up at Leif, a bit perplexed as to why he was suddenly stroking her head.

But she let him touch her head without any complains.

In fact, she kind of liked it. She gently leaned her head towards his hand, enjoying the comfortable sensation.

Leif couldn't help the smile that spread across his face as he noticed her small movement. The dangerous thoughts brewing inside him were slowly melting away as he stroked her hair.
