Chapter 4: A Butterfly Effect

Her life flashes before her eyes, as the knife was about to stab her to death, but in the midst of such an event, something occurred.
If she could put it into words, a miracle, a person who unknowingly changed her fate.
He was her savior, there's no doubt.
She was given a second chance to live, for her to be genuine, to finally say 'I love you' to her children. She was afraid at first, because what she said would end up a lie.
But it didn't, it was a true genuine love, in its truest form, for years she craved it, to lie is to love, that's what she believed but despite that, she sincerely hoped to experience a true love, not a lie she always does.
And today, she experienced that love and it honestly felt numbing, enlightening and most of all it felt wonderful. To love someone unconditionally is the best thing in this world.
President Saitou went immediately to her apartment, he was worried about her wellbeing which honestly felt nice, as to Ai, he was a father that she never had.
Even Miyako is worried, she never realized it until now, or perhaps she's been ignoring it, but these people genuinely cherished her.
After calming down President Saitou, he went to call someone and the look he was furious and Ai have an idea or two about what this is about.
Regardless of her hunch, she didn't say anything as she's content with this, for now.

Her children are now sleeping in her lap, both are exhausted, after all the things that happened today it was understable.
Now that she was free, she decided to check that delivery she received from her savior…
Now that she thinks about it, she never got to know his name, but she wasn't too worried as she got his number and would contact him soon, that she would.
Her impression of that man is quite good, after all he saved her, meaning her children wouldn't end up as an orphan.
For that she was grateful, but she couldn't properly express that gratitude since he left in a hurry.
But she couldn't blame him, after all he got a job to do.
A delivery man, it wasn't a grand job or anything, but it was respectable.
A delivery man that saved her from a very critical moment, he was really cool..
'Wait, let's not go there yet.' Ai shook her head in a bit of embarrassment.
It's still too early for that, maybe if she gets to know him better, maybe just maybe.
Now, it was time to open this package that he delivered, to be honest she couldn't really remember ordering it.
Not that she particularly cared though, she ordered a lot, there's one or two things that she would bound to forget.
Since money isn't that much of an issue nowadays since her popularity, with a scissor she cut the tape that was attached in the cardboard box and slowly opened it to see what's inside.
Ai's eyes widened and took out the item that was inside the box.
"Oshi no ko…?"
From all things she expected, a manga wasn't one of them, she knows what a manga is, she isn't that ignorant after all, most of her fans are otakus.
She received a lot of manga from her fans, it's not uncommon for her to know about its existence.
However, this particular manga immediately got her interest as soon as she saw its cover, not to mention its title.
Its meaning is quite a mirror reflection of her life.
(A/N: 'Oshi no Ko' could either mean 'My Favorite Idol' or 'Their Idol's Children', it has a dual meaning and I think it's genius.)
Either way, the reason why she was surprised it's because of this manga cover, it was a well drawn version of her, it looked exactly like her.
With her idol outfit and all, and just like that she became interested, right now in her mind was to check the contents inside and she did.
"Eh..?"
Thus the plot of the story Oshi no ko changed beyond the original.

Hiru was back in his own world, while thinking. 'I can't believe I saved her from dying!'
With a smile, he was proud of it, even though it wasn't part of his job, saving someone is something to be proud of.
Either way, there would be great changes in that world because he saved the protagonist's mother.
Maybe he wouldn't become an edge lord, now that his mommy is alive.
Only time would tell.
[ Congratulations for your successful delivery, Hiru! Although, it's a bit unexpected that you delivered in the day she was bound die, because of your interference she's alive! ]
Hiru heard Eve congratulate him, and he stared at the screen above and frowned. "So, you didn't plan for me to arrive on the same day the murder happened?"
[ That's right. ]
"I thought you're all powerful or something."
[ Nope, I never said that it's just your own assumption! If I or my group we're all-powerful, then we wouldn't need to create this kind of system, while we are powerful we're not omnipotent, we have limits to you know? ]
Hiru was surprised, that was something he didn't expect, but regardless because of that particular flaw, he got this system, he wasn't sure if he's grateful for that or something.
[ Now, let's get back to the main topic, for your success delivery you received a single 'Bronze Coin' as the world you delivered in and it's danger level wasn't dangerous, while it may have it's supernatural side, it may be amount to nothing as there's no being that could harm you in that universe. ]
It was understable, he wasn't too disappointed, not that he was expecting a Silver Coin or something, either way he could finally try that gacha machine!
Hiru was curious about what he's going to get, but first he needed to hear the ratings that he got from Ai.

It brought him a smile knowing that his delivery service was satisfactory, it was good to know.
Although this was his first delivery, it doesn't mean he can't be proud of his achievements and there would be more in the future.
As Hiru was about to try the gacha machine. Eve suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
[ You also received a tip from 'Ai Hoshino', which is quite lucky of you as not every customer gives a tip. ]
His eyes widened as he heard that. "Wait seriously? What did she tip?"
[ She tipped you with a skill 'Professional Level Singer' with this skill you could pretty much sing in a professional way. ]
'Eh, while it's not bad to have this skill, it's ultimately useless in this world..' Hiru thought, in a world where you could die any time of the day, singing would amount to nothing.
But at least he got something, although a bit disappointed because it's not combat related.

Deciding that it's not worth getting work up for as there's plenty of things that needed his attention rather than this bitch smugness. "Anyway, since I know now what's new?"

Okay, that's pretty useful not gonna lie, it would save him much trouble. "Is there a ranking of this danger system?"
[ Of course, like for example your last Delivery was categorized as the lowest danger Rank E. Then D, C, B, A, S and EX ]
That's simple enough, it's quite easy to understand. "So, is there anything that is new? Or that's all?"
Hiru just wanted to make sure.
[ That's all for now, unless you rank up there's no new things from the system, either way we'll notify you if another order arrives, ciao~. ]
"Well, that was a thing.." He lets out a sigh and then smiles and continues. "Now, it's time to use this Bronze Coin."
The gacha machine appeared and Hiru put the Bronze Coin into the coin slot and the gacha machine made a sound.
[ Confirmed - 1 Bronze Coin. ]
[ Preparing Bronze Level Rewards ]
[ Please pull the lever to start spinning. ]
Hiru pulled the lever and it started spinning. He couldn't see the rewards that were in the letter because it was too fast for his eyes to see.
A few moments later, it stopped spinning and he received his reward.
[ Congratulations you have received a 'Gamer's Dagger'. ]
He would have been disappointed, because he only got a dagger but he wasn't because of the dagger's description.
[ Gamer's Dagger - Any living being you kill as long as it's sentient would drop an item, for example a pig would drop a meat or a sword meat depending on the user's luck.
-You can only use this item 10 times.
-Current Usage 10/10. ]
"This is…" He couldn't describe how amazing this item is, especially in a world where the Devil roams free, he wondered what kind of items would he get from killing a devil.
That thought made him excited, with that he knows what exactly he's going to do next.
Find a devil.
A weaker one, because he isn't suicidal.
