Chapter 9: Chapter Nine: Killing The Blue Wolf. pt. 2

"I agree! Burn her friends too!" Someone else chanted and before long the whole of Aysun was chanting, "kill her! Burn her!" Lord Creon was appalled by the gruesomeness of their intentions. Among the higher ups there was not a single person objecting the motion. Was this really what his hometown was like? Quick to bring people to their death without adequate investigation?

"We will burn her if that is what you want. However, my advisors have suggested that that be the highlight of the night," Artemis smiled and Lord Creon almost spat. Highlight? They were going to end a night of supposed rejoicing watching his firstborn struggle for her life?

"Very well said!" Someone shouted.

"On that note I shall propose a toast to the good health of Aysun," the Alpha said rising his cup.

"Hear! Hear!" And the rest of the people joined in.

Immediately Artemis left the stage, Lord Creon stealthily followed after him. Before Artemis would make his daughter into a common criminal, he would finish him off.

He followed as Artemis disappeared into a long corridor; he lost Artemis until he heard his voice behind him, "you do not struts me still."

With a dagger to Artemis stomach, Lord Creon responded, "Highlight of the night?"

"I have to, it's the only way," Artemis replied level headedly.

"You coward, I would end you before you lay a finger on my little girl," Lord Creon spat.

"It won't happen that way, we'll disguise her death, exchange the body..."

"What's your plan?" For the first time since Artemis mentioned Velma's execution, Lord Creon relaxed a little.

"Let's discuss this with her first," Artemis replied.

They walked the rest of the way to the dungeon Artemis had kept Velma in silence each man thinking of how best to disguise Velma's death. Artemis opened the cell that held Velma but the cage that had been used to keep her was empty.

"My apologies, I had her removed to a much better place when I discovered my error," Artemis said examining the empty cage.

"And this boy? Who is he?"

"Apparently, he might turn rogue and so he's here under observation," Artemis said looking at Darius in the cage next to what had been Velma's cage.

"I see, I want to see my daughter," Lord Creon growled filled with worry.

As Artemis approached the room where he had instructed Velma be kept he noticed several of his trusted guards sprawled on the floor. His initial thought was that they had drunk themselves to stupor and he was going to have to be stricter with security.

Artemis and Lord Creon waded their way through the bodies on the ground. Artemis knocked but got no response, Lord Creon knocked and then shouted, "it's okay love, I'm here to get you," but there was still no response.

"I'll be coming in," Lord Creon said as he opened the door; the look of horror on Lord Creon's face confirmed an imminent nightmare of Artemis.

Meanwhile hours back...

"What do you say we try to escape here?" Velma asked, they could hear the distant march of footsteps.

"To...together?"

"Of course," the march was louder now so she whispered.

"If I did I will be killed immediately, I am just a mere servant but I can help you," Darius shrugged, he wondered what the lady was running from. He was aware the Alpha had ordered her arrest but once it was found that she belonged to some family of noble blood a deal would be struck and she will be free.

"I'm going to leave. Whatever happens tell them you know nothing,"  it was barely a whisper as the guards came into full view.

"My Lady, forgive us," the guards that had entered had their heads bowed. Velma scoffed. Had her father figured out already that she was the blue wolf?

"I am no lady," she imitated the accent of her personal maid hoping that would convince them that she belonged to the lower strata of the pack.

"We have orders to escort you elsewhere and the Alpha sends his apologies," Darius looked on in slight jealousy. He had guessed from her mannerisms that she was the daughter of some influential pack member but he could not have guessed that her connections ran that far. The Alpha himself was sending his apologies?

"You are greatly mistaken," Velma continued looking away from them.

"Escort her," the guard who seemed like the head amongst them nodded at someone.

"Leave me alone," Velma screamed as the guard tried to hold her hand.

Something strange happened in that instance; there was some sort of heat that escaped her body just then and she saw in a flash that the eyes of the guard who had touched her had turned into spirals of blue and white and for a brief moment she knew she had control over his mind; that he would do anything for her.

The guard soon came back to his senses and escorted her out of the prison; she winked Darius as she passed by him.

As they neared the room she suspected she was to be held up in; she grabbed the hand of the guard to her right, looking him straight in the eye.

"What's the quickest way out of here?" She had not been certain but it worked. She had control over his mind.

"What is she doing? Roger, Roger!" their head was shouting but she turned to him and she overcame his mind.

"To the east, there's a door that leads directly to a tunnel, the end of that tunnel leads to a forest just outside the pack," Roger was still hypnotized as he said this.

"Sleep," she commanded.

The rest of the men were too in shock to react on time. Before they could do anything further she had them going to sleep.

The only one left was the head guard who stood there frozen on the spot. He looked almost scared of her. She looked at him hoping the heat would come so she could command him to sleep but there was nothing. She couldn't hypnotize him.
