Chapter 35: Strange man

Uther stood in the dimly lit room, his expression a mix of surprise and confusion. Based on the sin he had committed that led his master to extract his Soul Zen and lock him up in a coffin, he never expected anyone to set him free.

"Who would be so foolish as to set me free?" Uther pondered, examining the strange room he found himself in.

Thanks to his enhanced eyesight, he was able to see clearly in the darkness.

While examining the room, Uther doubted that he was still in his kingdom. The room's design and structures looked different from what he remembered.

"Strange," Uther murmured, taking a step forward and making his way out of the dimly lit room slowly.

Exiting the dark room, Uther found himself in a vast, open space illuminated by bright candles. The room had different large boxes here and there, all locked except one.

"My Arsenal?" Uther rushed over to the boxes with a surprised look. "One of the boxes is open, meaning someone already defeated the box keeper. I wonder who the person is and what gift he got," Uther mused, moving to another box and placing his two hands on it before shutting his eyes.

CLICK*

A few seconds after shutting his eyes, the box unlocked. Uther opened it to see the contents.

"At least I won't be naked anymore." Saying those words, Uther picked up the Shiny Silver armor with a skeleton head marking on the chest, and two blades were placed beside the armor.

Uther quickly equipped himself in the armor and strapped the two blades behind him in an X-like shape. After equipping the armor, the rest of the boxes vanished into thin air.

"Now, let's see where exactly I am," Uther sounded, making his way away from the vast, empty room and heading downstairs to another vast, empty room that was filled with strange statues.

"The statues of the blind Harbingers? I guess I am still in my kingdom if these statues are here." Uther's expression changed to a disappointed one.

He thought maybe he somehow found a way to escape his kingdom and now woke up in a foreign place.

But after seeing the sacred statue, he was sure he was still home. And if he was home, then it's only a matter of time before they put him back to slumber.

Shifting his gaze away from the statue and to his right side, he saw a huge door that seemed to be open slightly.

Approaching the door, Uther's enhanced nose caught a scent he had never perceived throughout his entire life.

"What is that smell?"Uther pushed the door open and stepped out. Arriving outside, Uther saw four men dressed in black uniforms approaching him.

"Hey, who are you and how did you get in there?" One of the men demanded.

Uther stood there silently, trying to digest the whole situation. The scent emanating from these people wasn't like that of a Harbinger, meaning they were humans.

But the question is, why is he in the human world? How did he end up here?

The master of the Harbinger of Souls had been working tirelessly to gain entry to the human world. The only way they managed to sneak into the human world for a temporary time was if they shifted their soul into a dead person or someone at the verge of death.

But shifting souls into those people wasn't permanent, and soon they would run around looking for souls to absorb to avoid turning into solid rock.

But somehow, Uther found himself there even without shifting his soul.

"Hey, I asked you a question! Don't make me get the answer out of you!" The man shouted, snapping Uther out of his gaze, and he shifted his gaze towards the group.

"Pathetic," Uther shook his head and scoffed at the man's threats.

The man got angered by Uther's words and a fist covered in Chaos Energy was thrown towards Uther's head. The fist traveled towards Uther at an incredible speed. Due to the Chaos Energy he added, the punch moved thrice as fast as a random punch.

In the last second, Uther moved his head slightly, making the punch pass by him by a hair's length. The power behind the punch caused Uther's long black hair to move as it passed by him.

The group were stunned by Uther's insane reflex towards the man's punch.

'Who the hell is he? His speed. His aura. It's not like anything I have ever seen before,' the leader pondered while examining the strange man in front of him. He could feel a strong aura emanating from Uther. Something he had never seen before.

Even if the leader was a Heroic rank, he could still feel intimidated by Uther's presence.

"I only have one question," Uther uttered, glancing at each of the men's faces. "Who was able to revive me in this human planet?" Uther questioned.

The group now had a confused expression on their faces. Judging by Uther's words, they could tell that Uther wasn't a human from Planet Edom.

And if he wasn't a human, then he has to be a...

"He is a Harbinger of Souls!" The leader alerted, and his fellow comrades flinched in fear and took a few steps backward.

"Answer my question, or no one gets out of here alive," Uther threatened with an evil smirk as his left eye began to glow bright red in the darkness.

The group on the other hand had no idea what Uther was demanding. In fact, they had no idea how he ended up here. The coffin and the inner chamber Uther woke up in had been there ever since the first human discovered the Planet Edom.

For years they had been trying to open the coffin to see what exactly was inside, but no matter how hard they tried, it refused to open.

But after hearing Uther's words, they could only guess that the thing that had been inside that coffin for many years now was Uther, a Harbinger of Souls.

"G-Guys, listen up!" The leader spoke in a confident tone. "He might be a Harbinger of Souls, but he has been trapped in there for many years and hasn't fully recovered. We are all Heroic, if we attack him together we'll surely take him down!"

Boosting their morale, the group charged forward towards Uther who just stood there unbothered by their actions.

"You are right. I am still a little weak, therefore, I won't be able to fight you," Uther said, raising up his left hand and placing two fingers on his forehead.

"Summon!"

Saying the word, a black shadow appeared on the floor like a black hole, and a huge red dragon flew out from the black hole and charged towards the group.

The group quickly halted their steps after catching a glimpse of the mighty dragon that was summoned by Uther and was now heading towards them with its mouth wide open, revealing its razor-sharp fangs.

AAHHHAAHHHH!!!!

Cries of agony filled the area as the dragon devoured them one by one. After successfully devouring the three comrades, the dragon shifted its gaze towards the leader who seemed to be preparing his technique with his fingers.

'Darn it. I might be a Heroic rank Chaos user but my energy spike technique would be useless against this beast,' the leader lamented, raising up his two hands and black long sharp spikes formed right above it.

He chucked the spikes towards the dragon that was already charging towards him.

When the spikes collided with the dragon's skin, they deflected off and left no scratch. The dragon finally closed the gap between its prey, slamming its long huge tail on him and sending him crashing into a wall.

The power behind the hit caused the wall to collapse and the leader now covered in bruises and almost all his bones broken.

Uther approached the leader who was now laying down on the floor helplessly with blood trickling from different parts of his body.

"Are you ready to tell me now?" Uther knelt down in front of him with his dragon by his side waiting for a command from its master.

"I-I-I have no idea what you are talking about," the leader stuttered with fear written all over his face, as he coughed up blood.

"Too bad." Saying those words, Uther grabbed the leader's head tightly and closed his eyes.

When his hands made contact with the leader, the leader fell under paralysis and a blue aura could be seen leaving his body and entering into Uther's.

Slowly, the leader's body began to turn into solid rock.

"Ah..." Uther finally let go of him, causing the leader's solidified body to drop to the ground. "Been a while since I tasted a soul. Human souls do taste good," Uther said with a satisfied expression as he rose up and unsummoned his beast.

"Since these four couldn't provide me the answer I need, I will just have to find him myself."
