Chapter 105: Author: What happened two days ago

There are two reasons why I didn't release any chapters yesterday.

Here's the one which was a mix of partial truth and a partial lie:

I've encountered considerable self-doubt lately; for two days, I drafted nothing, troubled by my writing quality. The chapters I've been currently posting are mere drafts, and now I have fewer since I've written none.

The issue was about my book's pacing—it's intolerably slow! Despite my desire to hasten the narrative, it feels sluggish. From chapter 96 onward, over 20 chapters have unfolded, and yet the storyline hasn't advanced beyond a single day. And currently on latest my latest drafts, It's still in the afternoon in my book, and I'm yet to write the evening scene.

I've considered time skipping, but any skips must be logical and not disrupt the story. However, my patience is wearing thin, and it's hard to persevere, but I am trying to keep going, stay relaxed, and flow with the process, hoping to maintain my persistence.

The other reason (the genuine one):

True, the slowness of my writing vexes me, but the actual cause of delay is that two days ago, I succumbed on playing when I downloaded mGBA emulator. I played Pokemon FireRed nonstop for 24 hours. My intention was to finish the game quickly in a day and resume writing. However, the cave part, pokemon in the grass, really wrecked my plans.

And the most infuriating is the 'Victory Road', the final scene, especially Lorelei's fucking Pokemon!

THAT SEEL! I REALLY FUCKING HATED IT SO MUCH! I HATED LORELEI!

I regretted choosing Charmander as my starter; it served me well for much of the game, yet its early struggles against Brock and now to Lorelei. Facing the first Elite, that unlimited SURF move is too cheating! Overwhelming my Charizard!

Even potent healing items like Hyper Potions barely keep it afloat, as Seel's attacks consistently halve its HP. The battle has devolved into a frustrating cycle of unlimited Surf Moves and healing with no progress. What's worse, my moves' PP dwindles while Lorelei continue using move as she wants!

I also regretted my team choice: Charizard (Level 60), Pidgeot (Level 44), Nidoking (Level 36), Vileplume (Level 34), Graveler (Level 33), Seadra (Level 32)—most are weak against Water and Ice. I'm very well aware of my weakness, but I already invested heavily in these Pokemon, especially Pidgey and Geodude, raised from their lowest levels alongside with my Charizard. Oddish from level 10, and Horsea from level 22. I also put HM on each of them which made them very important to me.

After Brock, my journey was smooth; Charizard's Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Ember, and Wing Attack could one or two hit any Water, Ground, and Rock opponents. But after reaching Victory Road and encountering Lorelei, I quit.

(Author Note: Clarification. Ember and Wing Attack dominated my early games, then I changed Ember to Flamethrower in late games. My Charizard's Final moves are - Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Steel Wing, and Blast Burn)

It isn't that I can't defeat them; rather, it's because I've already anticipated the outcome. The expected sequence is to battle the Elite Four—Lorelei, Bruno, Agatha, and Lance—and then to confront the final boss, Blue, the champion. I've documented the entire plot of Kanto in a Microsoft Word file, so there's no longer a need to finish the game.

(AN: On this last part, I am telling the truth! Please believe me!)
