Chapter 10: Nightmare

"Drink this." Dahlia poured whatever she was cooking into a bowl and gave it to me.

"What is it?" Smelling the awful smell of the bowl of liquid, I grimaced and asked.

"Stop asking questions and drink it. It will help with the headache." She said sternly.

I downed the bowl of liquid in one go while pinching my nose. Almost instantly, my head cleared as if a fog had been lifted. After I regained clarity of mind, I started devising a plan to convince Dahlia to release me.

"You can stop trying to find a way to escape. You will never escape me. Just ask Freya." She said, gesturing to my sister-in-law beside her.

"What do you want?" I spat, glaring fiercely at her.

"Such ferocity." She let out a chuckle before continuing.

"Like I said before, I need you to teach me your unique way of magic."

"And like I said before, my magic doesn't work like that. Nobody can use my magic. Only me." I rolled my eyes in annoyance and explained again to her.

"About that. I wonder if this will change your mind." She threatened.

"Let me tell you this, I am not easily threat–" Before I finished, she reached out her hand to me as an overwhelming amount of pressure came crashing down on my body. It was as if my body was experiencing gravity but a hundred times more than the usual amount

"Gaah!"

Falling to my knees as my vision blurred, I hissed in pain at the pressure.

As it became increasingly difficult to breathe, a wet sensation trickled down my nose.

Just when I was about to pass out, Dahlia released her pressure and asked again.

"How about now? Change your mind?"

Breathing heavily, I stood up shakingly, coming face to face with Dahlia. I spat.

"You can go to hell!"

Disappointed at my reply, she sighs, but I can see in those cold-hearted eyes that she enjoys torturing me.

"As you wish."

Pressing a finger against my forehead, I tried to resist whatever magic she was trying to do to my mind. However, it seemed to be an uphill battle from the start since her power seemed just too strong.

While putting all my willpower into defending my mind, I screamed.

"Nooooo!"

But my struggles were useless as the last thing I heard was,

"Sweet dreams. We will meet again after a hundred days. I hope you will change your mind by then."

And then everything turned dark.

As my vision darkened, I was suddenly transported into dark space.

Where am I? What's going on?

Before I had time to ponder where I was, my surroundings started to change.

Suddenly, I was back in the village where I met the Original family.

But that wasn't all. All the houses are burning and bodies are scattered everywhere. It was like a scene straight out of a horror movie.

Looking around, I shouted at the top of my lungs trying to find anyone that could tell me what had happened.

Seeing my house not far from where I am, I ran towards it, hoping my sister would be there.

Upon reaching the door, I felt a sense of crisis in my heart, which grew stronger as I opened it.

Creak!

I opened the door to my hut only to be shocked by the contents of the house. My face was drained of all colour as the bodies of the Original family were scattered to the ground, all of them dead from a sword in their chests. And in the middle of the hut, stood Mikael, holding Rebekah by the throat.

"Foolish boy. You can't save her." Licking the blood that splattered on his shirt, he grinned widely.

"Hey. Hey. Hey. Don't do this alright. I beg of you, please." I threw away my pride, and started begging Mikael.

"Kneel." He demands, still holding Rebekah by the throat.

"Please, Mikael. Don't do this." Without hesitation, I knelt down in front of him and begged him for mercy.

"You took everything away from me. You knew Henrik was going to die. If you had saved him, I wouldn't have destroyed our family." He roared with rage and glared fiercely at me.

With every word that he spoke, the dread inside my body only increased. Shaking my head, I pleaded.

"Please, Mikael. I am begging you. Please don't kill her. Kill me. If you blame me, then kill me. Not her."

In the meantime, a thin smile spread across Rebekah's face as she mouthed, 'I love you, always and forever'. The look on her face...

It was similar to that of someone who had accepted their fate.

'No!' I screamed in my mind as I rushed forward, reaching out to save Rebeakh in time.

"N..no...no, do—"

"Too late."

The next set of actions happened so quickly that I was unable to react at all.

Crack!

With a flick of his wrist, the sound of bones breaking echoed throughout the room, and Rebekah's neck was snapped.

Thump!

What followed was a low thumping sound and her body fell to the ground.

"No..." I muttered in denial.

She can't be dead! She can't be!

My leg weakened as I fell back to the ground. Looking at the broken necks of the most important woman in my life, tears started to gather in the corner of my eyes. Tears streamed down my face as I mourned her death, my body trembling.

Suddenly, my surroundings changed again, returning me to the middle of the village, surrounded by dead bodies. After that the same thing happened again and again. I failed to save Rebekah time and time again as Mikael killed her every single time.

It was a nightmare as I watched Rebekah die over and over again, in front of my eyes.
