Chapter 3: Hopefully you're ready, there's no turning back now.

[TIME: 1.00 pm. Location: ???, Florix High, The gym. Main POV: Rei Takiru/third person]

Everyone stared at the person on stage with a look of anticipation, not knowing what to expect. The longer Rei stared at them, the more he began to feel uneasy, the feeling of forgetting something important just growing with each passing second, as silence filled the gym. The air was thick enough to be cut down with a saw, and for a split second, as Rei and the mystery person made eye contact, he felt as if his life was flashing before his eyes, terror filling every part of Rei's body.

Then, they finally spoke, after what felt like hours. He was practically holding his breath as their mouth opened, anxiety rising by the second. But, even though Reis mind was racing to think of reasons as to why they were here, this was the least expected one.

"Welcome to Florix High, a school for the gifted and talented!" A school? Why would a school do all of this... Plus, he never signed up for this, it's got to be a mistake! And, before he knew it, Rei was already talking to the person. "I didn't sign up for this, and it doesn't look like anyone else here did either, based on their reactions." Well, it's true, is it not? He's just stating the obvious, everyone there was just as confused as him, there's no way they signed up for this and then proceeded to act so shocked and surprised... Right?

The guy pulls out a stack of papers and throws the pile onto the floor in front of us. They have such an... ominous feeling, he can't describe it. Soon, Tera walks over and picks a few papers up, staring at them.

"...Is someone here named Ame?" was everything she said, before turning to look at the others. They stared at each other before someone spoke up. "Uh... that's my name, why...?" Tera slowly walked over, giving her the paper. What was on the paper, was it a name? Why should they care about a paper with a name, if they've all been kidnapped obviously the people behind this would have everyone's na-

The girl jumped back, almost looking scared. "A consent form!? I didn't sign this! I don't- I don't know why my name is on it..." A consent form. With her name. So... She signed a consent form, what is she an idiot!? But she said she didn't sign it... That has to be a lie, right? Other people walked over to the pile, also picking out papers with their names.

After going through the pile, everyone had their papers, except Rei. He stared at the last paper on the ground, terrified. It had to be his, right? But... He hadn't signed one, he would know if he signed something so malicious and horrible! Rei had assumed that everyone else was lying about not signing the paper, but now he wasn't so sure about that. Rei walked over to the paper, shaky hands picking it up. He wasn't sure if he could even read it, too terrified of what could be inside.

And, well, there it was. His name was written on the paper, with his handwriting. How could this have happened... No, surely not, it wasn't possible. Rei felt nauseous, honestly.. Someone must have plagiarized his writing onto it, Rei isn't an idiot, he wouldn't- Wait, what's he even freaking out over? He doesn't even know what this is about, it could be something good, right? He turned to the others, who were also freaking out.

"What are we even freaking out over, we don't know what this is about! It might not even be something bad, and we are just overreacting. What if it's like..." Rei struggled to come up with an example, but he and everyone else needed to calm down, and it wouldn't work without reassurance. "What if it's just a game show?" Yeah, right. A game show, this could be a common setting for that.

But, it didn't seem the person on stage agreed with us, instead bursting into laughter. "What's... What's so funny, huh!? Is it- because we figured it out so quickly!?" I turned to look at the person speaking. The same girl who was questioning everyone from earlier... Jeez, he really had to learn people's names, he couldn't just refer to someone as "the girl who was questioning everyone", can he? Whatever, that isn't something to focus on now.

"Figured it out? Ha, you're all so hilarious.... No, you're not even close. Maybe I should just explain it now, I don't have time to sit around all day, do I?"

"Neither do we." Came out of Reis mouth before he could even think about what the person said, it seems Rei was getting quite angry. "Right right, of course of course..."

Rei swore he was holding his breath again, and if he hadn't been trying to prepare for the worst he might've died at the guy's next words. No matter how prepared he thought he was, nothing could have prepared him for the words he heard.

"Simply put, Florix High is a killing game."

Everyone went quiet, absolutely horrified. What? No. That was a lie. This is a test, there's no way it could be real. Rei tried to focus on whatever else the guy was saying, but he couldn't focus on a single thing going on around him, the shock was too much to handle, and the world around him was blurry. Was he actually about to faint? No way, he wouldn't. As Rei thought about what was going on, suddenly Tera tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey um... Are you alright? We can go now..."

What, it's over already? Rei looked over to the clock, it's been 10 minutes.. He zoned out hard, huh? At least its better than fainting... Where are they going though, surely they aren't leaving... Rei couldn't question it though, and instead just walked along with Tera off to somewhere.
