Chapter 9: Little secret
Shawn's POV
It's the weekend and everyone is practicing hard . The game is just around the corner and we really wanted to win . Our school has been winning for the past 6 years straight. That will make 7 winstreak if we win this one too. We really don't want to break the winstreak . I put my heart into game and play.
" Nice work everyone. If we keep going like this , we have good chance to win." The coach said signalling us to wrap up . We took a shower and left the school. As I reached home , I heard some sound from the kitchen. I went to check who's making the sound and saw my sister Savannah and her wife Lucy . Savannah is 4 months pregnant and she start showing.
I've missed Savannah so much . She was my role model. She's always there for me whenever I faced a problem. She's the perfect big sister for me .
" Hey ! We were going to the clinic for a checkup and we happened to be going pass here . So we decided to drop by and see how everyone is doing." Savannah smiled at me .
" Savannah! I've missed you so much . I'm so glad to see you ." I said hugging her.
" Clearly not enough because you would have visited me if you miss that much ." She pouted. How did she turn from smiling to that so quickly? Was I wrong to say I miss her? But I really do miss her .
" I really wanted to visit. But I've just been busy nowadays and I didn't have the right moment." I replied seepisly. She doesn't seem too pleased to here my answer.
" Blah blah blah... It's all just excuses. I don't wanna hear it ." She said giving me a side eye.
" Babe! Come on . He's still a kid . He must've got a lot of things at hand . Don't be mad now , it's bad for the baby . Sorry Shawn , your sister has been a little bit sensitive because of the hormones." Lucy slowly said giving Savannah a kiss on the forehead.
" I'm fine . It's not because of any hormone. Of course I'm mad that this brat wouldn't visit me . I'd still be mad even if I'm not pregnant ." Savannah snapped.
" And you! why are you taking his side ? How busy can he be ? He just doesn't want to visit." She turned to Lucy.
Lucy just gave a nervous smile and remained silent.
" It's okay, Lucy. I should've visited. And Savannah I promise I really was going to visit. I just didn't find the right time . I swear something always comes up. Please don't be mad ." I said.
" Yes babe, don't be mad . It's not good for your health." Lucy agreed.
" Fine whatever. I'm tired . I'm gonna take a nap . Wake me up when mom and dad are home ." She sighed. Lucy followed her to the guest room trying to calm her . They're really in Love.
Looking at them all lovey dovey makes my heart melt. They've been through a lot . Lucy's mom kick her out for being gay and they haven't spoken even now. I'm sure she wanted her mom to be there when they have their child . She told me before her mom was very special to her .
Lucy's mom is a very orthodox Christian. She's very devoted to the church and will do anything for the community.
She became a window at a young age , when Lucy was only 5 . Lucy didn't have much memory of her father but she said he was a good man . Her mom had high expectations for Lucy and Lucy always obey her mother regardless. She got scholarship to a prestigious college and got her degree . She was her mom's prefect child until she met Savannah I'm her university. They were assigned as roomates. Lucy's first impression of Savannah is that she seems like a wild girl . She doesn't care about her grades too much . She's always looking for ways to have fun. She's always ready for an adventure. In fact, she's the opposite of what Lucy had been doing . But somehow Lucy found herself drawn to Savannah.They became friends quickly and Lucy realise that she actually always wanted to live like Savannah, carefree and adventurous. She just had to hide that side of her to please her mother . Meeting Savannah makes her want to live as she please. She wanted to release her hidden self. They grew so close and they realise their love for us other isn't just platonic. They like each other as more than a friend . They confess their feelings on their graduation day . And since then they decided to fight for their love . Luckyly our parents gave their full support but Lucy's mom didn't take the news too well.
She immediately announced that she no longer have a daughter. Lucy was really sad for a long time . My mother was a huge part of her life . Savannah comfort her a lot and she get therapy. And after a lot of efforts, she accepted it .
The society is still cruel to same sex couples and they have been through a lot. I wish there was something I could do for them . But what can I do ? I can't even take care of myself. Regardless I'm happy that my sister found someone she love and who loves her so much . I think there couldn't a better patner for Savannah than Lucy . She always make my sister so happy treating her like the Queen she is .
