Chapter 48: Blessed Teaching - 4

[??? pov]

So it began.

I smiled… sipping at the tea in front of me. My vision taking me from the small cafe I found myself in to the small dorm. Containing three people.

One more than I would have liked. But as with every plan there were always variables that could not be planned for.

And Abigail. Oh how scandalous. With my student at the same time. Was it destiny? I knew not and that was oh so exciting.

I smiled. The veil, one that hid the perfect features from the world, it had stopped working for just a moment. Enough for those that merely glanced in my direction to start drooling with desire.

"It seems I have overstayed my welcome." I spoke. Leaving a sufficient tip, enough for the owner to retire if she so wished.

"I thank you for the tea. It was adequate."

With that I left, leaving those within awestruck at my grace and poise. As for those who had peaked beyond the veil, merely drooling idiots that could do nothing but chase after that taste of perfection.

A taste of pure and utter perfection.

"We thank you for the visit, Lady Ouriel"

I left, a smirk upon my perfect visage. Watching those within. The wife of my student, fussing over his 'strange fever' but as they disappeared within the void. As they began to settle down for the night.

Leaving their bodies to rest within bundled blankets. I found no trouble with crossing the veil. A mere step and I was before my little cute student. The young boy's brows scrunched in intense pain.

A mere towel staining his forehead with cold water that sought to bring his temperature down. But I removed it. My presence not even noticed by the Lauragne girl. Who had so viciously extended her senses throughout the room.

To the detriment of many girls… who wanted nothing more than to see the illusive saint. A saint that could heal any injury.

"Wake" I spoke and his eyes popped open with a gasp.

I cast another veil. One that closed us into a little pocket realm, as I had done within our first meeting.

My cute little student tried to stand up and bow to me. As was tradition but I held his chest down, not caring one bit about the strand of nakedness he had shown me.

"A first trial… your body will feel as such until you have fought through and learned." With that I left. Placing the seed within his mind.

For that was all that was needed. A determination that would drive him further into the path that I needed him to walk.

No, needed was a strong word. A promised path, yes that was a better term.

And when I turned my back… placing myself within that isolated realm of mine once more. I merely sat two cups down between me and the empty seat.

Pouring tea within both. Despite the fact that the other could not make it. For Okami had died some time ago.

I sipped once more from the cup.

"I have enacted the first stage according to your instructions. Though I still cannot understand that mind of yours."

I chuckled, the musical note within enough to ensnare the minds of those not careful enough.

"You would have loved him… he even has the same looks as you, that same golden green hair, that same personality. He practically looks like a girl."

I chuckled, looking to the stars, artificially created to withstand the test of time. A night sky seen only a thousand years ago.

And when I looked back down it was not to the empty seat but to that same girl. Chuckling with me. Answering with questions and words that I could not understand.

A mere imitation of the real thing.

But what else could it be. For not even with my power… for every speck of hard gained mastery… nothing could truly bring the dead back to life. Not even those disgusting necromancers had an answer for death.

Only a mere reanimation of the spirit. Calling them from the promised heaven. Pulling only the barest hint of their mind.

More a blasphemy to the person than a true resurrection.

"Though maybe he may be able to accomplish what you had never been able to. After all…"

I sighed into the sky once more.

"He has your instruction."

The sky glowed with a certain golden glow, a golden green travesty that grew and grew. Only stopping when I grasped. My hand closing within the same motion. The realm I had created, gone, reduced to dust.

And when I found myself, my head laid out among the silky sheets, a sigh echoing from my mouth.

A question echoing within my mind.

But that was of no consequence. The confidence, the perfection, the veil that broke through the sky. All gone in order to facilitate my sadness.

For she was gone. A reminder that came with every glance at his struggling form. Trying… oh so trying to take within himself every lesson I imparted upon him.

Not that it was much. At this time at least. A mere book, esoteric at best. And with text that would drive another insane.

But he… I knew that he would survive. He was an inheritor of her power. And as such there would be no more tenacious being born until his untimely death.

And then… would I still be burdened by that promise. Or would another come and take over that burden.

I let out another sigh, perfection incarnate even within my saddest moments.

A smile ran through my face as I sat up within my bed. Watching his finger trail through letter after letter. Through the information I set up, through trap after trapping. Where every last move would mean death for another.

Truly… truly he was talented. Worthy of all the attention I lathered upon him.

And so… I waited for the next morning, for when he would sneak from that room of his. Guarded by nothing more than his wits.

Guided towards a new destiny. Blessed or cursed, whichever it was… he would endure. I knew that for certain.
