Chapter 97: Chapter - 96 - Looking for Him

Chasing Minghuan out the door, Tang Li surveyed her surroundings, frowning as she realized that the man had simply vanished.

'How could he run so fast?'

In such a short time, the man could not be seen!

Breathless, Yi Xiu caught up with her while holding her daughter. Concerned, she asked, "Xiao Li, where do you live now? Let's see if he's gone home first."

Tang Li nodded and noticing Yi Xiu's struggle with holding Jiaojiao, she offered, "Sister, how about I hold her for you?"

"No need. Jiaojiao is a bit shy," Yi Xiu declined, feeling her daughter cling tighter to her neck.

"Eldest sister, don't worry. Even if Minghuan gets angry, he won't mess around and do anything drastic..," Tang Li reassured, puzzled by Yi Xiu's anxiety.

Despite Tang Li's reassurance, Yi Xiu still appeared anxious.

She bit her lip and said with a pale face, "You don't know, when Minghuan was eight years old, he ran out like this once in anger and almost died outside."

Tang Li's heart skipped a beat. "Sister, you also said that was when he was eight years old. Now that he's grown up and is sensible, he definately won't do anything radical.

"It's not illogical for a person to seek death by himself, no matter how strong he is from the inside..," Yi Xiu said with a pale face.

Frightened by this revelation, Tang Li was distressed.

'Did she just say that Minghuan tried to kill himself when he was eight?!'

'At such a young age what had happened that he didn't want to live anymore?!'

The image of Minghuan as a child, contemplating death at eight, weighed heavily on her. She felt that Minghuan's childhood seemed a lot darker than she had imagined and thinking of his sinister eyes and expression as he left, her heart trembled.

She wasn't concerned that the current Minghuan would be overwhelmed by his emotions and do something radical, but rather that he might resort to other stupid things.

"No elder sis, Minghian told me that he wanted to live a good life with me, why would he seek death?" Tang Li tried to comfort her eldest sister, diverting her attention.

"Sister, look at what happened just now. It scared Jiaojiao quite a bit. You should coax her first and not panic yourself."

Yi Xiu heard her suggestion, and turned her attention to her daughter, patting her and sighing with concern.

She knew now that bringing Jiaojiao with her here was a mistake. She should have left her with her father at least that way she would be ignorant of her family.

Her family could never live peacefully especially her mother and brother. If it wasn't that she wanted to meet Xiao Ming she herself wouldn't have come.

The two hurried back home. Seeing the closed gate, Tang Li realized he hadn't returned. It was getting dark, and she wondered where he had gone.

They waited for a few more minutes and craned their necks outside the gate to see if he had come back after venting his emotions, but there was still no sign of him.

"Sister, do you know where Minghuan used to go to calm down?" Tang Li inquired when she saw that it was getting dark.

Yi Xiu frowned and pondered for a moment. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. "At the grave!"

"What?" Tang Li was perplexed and couldn't understand what him calming down had to do with going to a grave!

"Xiao Ming often goes to squat by my grandfather's grave and talk to him. Let's go and see. Maybe he's there," Yi Xiu suggested.

"He should have gone there," Tang Li agreed, recalling Minghuan buying joss paper from the town, for his grandfather's grave.

Considering the fact that he was emotionally hurt, she assumed he had gone to the cemetery.

"Sister, Jiaojiao is still young and would get scared of the cemetery. We can't take her there. Why don't you stay at home and rest while you tell me where the grave is, and I'll go find him." Tang Li guided Yi Xiu inside to rest and reassured her that she will get him back.

Ten minutes later, armed with paper and matches, Ruan Qingyue arrived at the village cemetery. It wasn't entirely dark yet otherwise she would have been scared to death to come here alone.

As she entered, the wind blowed, the thick trees and raised grave mounds created an eerie atmosphere.

"Minghuan! Yi Minghuan!" Tang Li called out as she ventured into the cemetery.
