Chapter 17: Preparation

Two months passed since I started to code what I like to call 'The Machine self-spreading Virus' and one since I created it.

And today is the day I finally go out to kill some beasts and move towards... I don't know.

I won't bring a compass and neither I will follow the stars or anything of the sort. I'll just go where my heart points.

So, either Shenzou or Europe.

And if you want to know why I spent another month inside this city while I promised to go out killing mobs left and right, the answer is that repairing bugs and resolving programming problems sucks!

Seriously, two weeks to perfect my creation is a lot... well, maybe not, but that's another case!

The remaining two weeks were spent to obtaining and leveling up the skill [Hacking] and is now comfortably level 45.

Seriously, having evolved [Programming] to [Programmer] and also having the skill [Person of Interest] made leveling [Hacking] a breeze.

Now I have all the funds for my future travels... and maybe more.

I sincerely thank two people, Jamil the sheik and the now old billionaire Marvin, who I didn't know before for their cumulative donation of twenty million US dollars.

And don't look at me like I'm a bad person, if I robbed a normal person with a wage of 10.000 dollars monthly, It's like I took less than one cents from their pockets.

Yeah, those two were THAT rich.

Maybe I created a security breach that became famous worldwide, but these are not important details.

Now, with that money in... bank, I bought that storehouse and linked its expenses to my digital banking card. There's no way in hell those computers would move from there.

And now, with the Machine having two weeks to store data, I moved towards where it pointed me.

To my first Honkai kill.

---

Two days passed, and of my prayer not even its shadow, but I'm not down.

The Machine could have sent me its coordinates, but it's not like it can pinpoint it if there isn't any camera or security system in the wild.

So, I walked, trying to watch for clues, until I discovered certain fighting marks on two trees.

Relatively new, between three to four hours since it passed, and a body that was pierced in its waist.

There's no need to bury it, as it would become animal food in at max two hours.

You can say I don't have any respect for the dead, but I think I have it, it's just another form of it. I believe that one death can be used for the next generation. If I died, I would like my body would be either eaten by my assailant if it was a beast or used like fertilizer for a tree, the bigger the better.

I know it's skewed, but it's what I believe. I think I have a passion for battle and such, so I'm almost like a follower of the law of the jungle.

Strength is might, so I won't complain about what my killer would do to my body. After all, it's his right to choose what to do with it.

Anyway, I followed the few traces of blood on the snow, until half an hour later I found the prayer I was following.

A floating white enemy with pink lines on his body emitting a low light, the first honkai beast I will kill, and also the weakest of them

And no, it's not an Archangel.

It was a bear, one that mutated thanks to the honkai energy in the atmosphere and gained silicon armor and the ability to float.

It was floating around without any care in the world. Maybe it was happy because he killed three people today, I found the other two bodies twenty minutes after the first corpse. There was no fight, they were only escaping from it.

So, without making my presence known to him thanks to my two other evolved skills, [Soundless Steps] and [Presence Erasure], evolved forms of [Silent Steps] and [Stealth], I continued to get closer.

I could have taken the spear in my inventory, but I wanted to see how my created skill would fare against an honkai enemy.

This skill was the one that currently cost me the most, 200.000 Energy and a 90-day cooldown.

[Fox Shadow Style]

Differently from the others, is a skill I created based on an anime I watched before, Kengan Asura.

As an anime, I liked it, that's why I used this as a reference to get a fighting skill.

More precisely, it is a Martial Art. It isn't the best in the world, but it was something I liked to watch and I also chose it because it was the only one that I could use to perfect my future style.

And while I won't know what the future will bring me, my future fighting style will be based on two things.

Stealth and Violence

And as [Fox Shadow Style] synergizes well with both of them, I took a liking to it.

Most of all, it was different from the other styles with a lot of katas and skills. There were only two components that made it.

That's why since my [Instinct] didn't warn me of a great power difference, I used the first move to attack him in the stealthiest way possible.

A shriek was the only thing that the bear made to signal my first 'real' battle.
