Chapter 54: War Information, Hidden Rewards and Core Healing

[Hidden Mission]

[Congrats on completing the hidden mission – generate 1000 gold.]

[Reward: Blueprint, 10 women, 50% core healing]

Eldric read the notification in surprise, and soon that surprise turned into joy. He had completed a hidden mission; it had been a while since he last completed a mission of any kind. He slowly calmed down; it was not the right time to accept the rewards due to the others being present.

He calmed himself down and said, "So, how is the new towns, anything in particular we should look out for?" he asked curiously.

Solen was the first to speak up, "The town of Frostwood doesn't have anything, and it's a relatively small town, although it's still bigger than Frostfall. The locals say the city is under a [Pathway] ranked Knight house called Evergreen.

Nothing much could be said for the rest; the market is a lot bigger and would be good to trade. Cedric has already made quite a few connections during our visit, and next time, they only have to be accompanied by Peak Man-at-arms (Tier 1) knights to ensure their safety.

"Excellent work. Then the next time, it shall be done as you have said," Eldric complimented.

Eldric soon turned his attention to Garen and Eamon. "It went smoothly, Patriarch. There were no obstacles during our visit. Eamon has also secured a few connections for future use. I will just have to add, according to what Eamon could find out, the town belongs to a Knight Household called the House of Silver." Garen patiently explained

"I do not know the specifics of the House, but they are strong, well, at least the guards around the town that I saw. If one would tell me that this force belongs to a [Pathway] ranked House, I wouldn't believe it." He added.

"But we have gathered more information, and this is of utmost importance." Garen's voice became solemn, "It seems the Kingdom of Highkeep is not as peaceful as it seems. According to the information, the Kingdoms have been divided into two factions upon the former King's death. Those loyal to the royal family became part of the Royal faction, and those who rebelled are part of the Duke faction. The House of Silver will go to war against another house in the coming days." Garen finished his report with a light sigh.

Eldric quietly pondered about Garen's news, and after a few moments, he said, "Then we should prepare, in case a war looms over our head. I do not want any battles to affect us now. Currently, we may be strong enough to fight head-on thanks to our current strength, but we lack other essential resources for battle."

"We shall do the following, since it was already on my agenda for future discussion we can go ahead and talk about it now." he spoke slowly with a severe tone, "I want to establish a merchant group."

When Eldric suggested his idea, the others were surprised by the sudden mention of a merchant group. Solen could not help but ask, "At this stage in time, why does Patriarch want to create this group, when we could go into town ourselves?" he asked curiously.

"It's due to 2 reasons. One being that it would be more efficient, and it would bring more gold than per say what we are doing now. The second reason would be for information. You all know, the best information gathering places are taverns and marketplaces. And what do merchants do? They gather information. So, I want the merchant group to be our eyes and ears," he explained with a light smile plastered on his face.

"The merchant group would of course need to be officially created. The best place would probably be Silverpeak. At this stage there is no need for a massive space but since Silerpeak is bigger than the other two towns it would be more effective. I want to create a shop, we trade and sell and go out to sell, so it would still retain what we are doing now in duties abut we will have extra duties to fulfill." He explained.

"So, during the next period of time, whoever of you goes to Silverpeak will be looking for a large building to buy, we will save money to buy it. Since we already have three merchants, they will be handling all the necessities for the shop. We shall supply the resources and items to sell and trade from the House. That is also the reason why the shop is made In Silverpeak and it will be our HQ for a while, I want our House to be hidden from the public's eye for a while longer."

"Any objections?" he asked. "No, but what shall we name the shop and group then?" Lachlan asked enthusiastically.

"I was thinking of naming the merchant group, Northern Star Commerce. The shop and everything else will be decided by our merchants here," he said.

As the day passed, the group decided on a few plans for the future, mainly concerning the war and the merchant group. They will look for a suitable place to buy and use as their trading HQ for the shop, and from there, they will trade with other towns and cities.

The plans for the merchant group had only just been set in motion, so there was no need for Eldric and the group to delve too deeply into detail at this stage of development.

After Eldric and the group went their separate ways, Eldric went to the cavern where he would accept the Reward. It did not take too long for him to arrive at his small cabin in the cavern. He could not contain his excitement, and he quickly accepted the rewards given.
