Chapter 75: The Next Course of Action & The Council Meets

Thus, meat was less common among the families, but still, a few particular families bought the beast meat. The armory could be said to have been raided; at least 80% of the weapons and armor remained from the initial stock.

Those few left are the higher-grade weapons. A Rank 1 weapon, depending on its type and grade, could earn anything between twenty-five and fifty gold. The main reason for that would be the materials needed and the difficulty of the forging process. For example, a dagger was far less valuable than a Warhammer.

In any case, the three merchants quickly assessed the situation and made their reports. As this was the first day, Eldric had asked that he be informed of the success. Now, not only will they report the success the first day had brought them but also convey their current predicament - they needed more stock!

Eldric slowly put the piece of paper down and, with a sigh, spoke, "Well, what do you think? We have undoubtedly gotten the success and attention we wanted, but it seems we could be in quite a problematic situation for a few days."

When the report came in, Eldric called the five elders to a meeting, which was held in the cavern, where a small building was constructed precisely for such meetings.

The six of them sat around the table, carefully listening to the report. Evander, the more intellectually gifted man in the group, whispered, "Indeed. It seems we have underestimated the allure of the products. For the merchant group to have earned over 3000 gold on their first day is remarkable, but as said, now we face two problems."

Evander gazed at the report ever so slightly, "Since that money will be used for the final arrangements for the people in town as well as the forge, they do not have enough money to buy the materials they would need to resell. I estimate, based on the market prices, that the amount of gold they would have for buying from other shops would be around 500 gold. This is far from enough."

"Not to mention, Caspian would only be able to forge in a few days, meaning we can't refill our armory stock." Evander highlighted the group's most important problems.

This time, all the elders had to be a part of the discussion; thus, even Lachlan and Cael had to sit down and help with the matters. After Evander spoke, none at the table were able to immediately come up with plans, not to mention those two.

Solen was the second to speak up, "Since Caspian can't forge new weapons for a few days, there's nothing we can do about that unless you bought from others but that is extremely expensive and most are not of a good quality, so i would suggest we refrain from doing so. We tell the people the next shipment is on its way. This way, although we indeed have fewer weapons, we can increase its value by saying that there are still not that many. You know, like make it some sort of special commodity, well at least for the time being?" he suggested.

"Mm, that is not a bad idea," Eldric nodded. Besides, as Solen has said, I do not want to reduce the quality of our products by buying too much from others. Most of the products will have to come from us directly."

"That's fine. We can easily deal with the weapons and armor, but what about the beast products?" Cael asked with a rough voice. According to the merchants, the amount of beast products would also need to be restocked. I do not know how much we have in stock now in the storage, but it can pose a problem if we do not have enough to send to them directly from the storage." His words attracted the attention of the whole group.

Seeing that none spoke to interrupt him, Cael continued with a grunt, "At this stage, with the knights divided so much, the amount of beasts we can hunt has also gone down substantially, not to mention that we need to venture out almost three to four hours to hunt a couple of beasts." His words were laced with frustration.

The battle-crazed Cael did not seem to like long travels, as evidenced by his words and tone.

"Fine, we shall see what we can do with the beast storage, but is there any way we can increase the number of beasts we kill?" Solen responded.

"Mm, well, I personally do not like the idea that much, but for now, the situation calls for it." Eldric gave a reluctant sigh. "Cael, I want you to personally travel and hunt beasts. Any beasts are fine, just make sure you will be able to bring them back"

Cael's eyes brightened like a child's; he seemed as if he was about to explode in joy. Thankfully, he tried to refrain from doing something unsightly. Lachlan was about to speak when Eldric interrupted. "And! Before you jump on my head," he glanced at Lachlan with a smile. Every two days, I want you to switch and take turns."

Cael's mood dampened quite a bit when he heard he had to share, but his words of discontent were held back when he saw Garen's knowing gaze. Garen was staring at Cael, and his intent could be clearly seen in Garen's eyes. 'Sit down and listen to Patriarch!' was essentially the meaning.

The group nodded; all of them were excited, some more than others. "Good, then what could be sorted out next? The minerals and ores are fine. We can send out a shipment tonight and restock everything by tomorrow. Evander, you will make sure everything is in order," he ordered.

"O and tell Eamon that they should restrict the salt use, we ourselves do not have much and the mining process is slow," he added quickly.
