Chapter 22: You did what?
A while ago, Kai left Elijah running out of the forest at full speed. he got into a carriage and headed for Glympton. he got to Glympton and then he noticed that he should not have come back. What, what am I doing here, if they ask where Elijah is what would I say, I have to run away" Kai said panicking
"Hey you are back, how was it" Oscar asked as he was by the entrance of Glympton.
"Shit, too late. What is he doing out here, he is always in his office, now that he has seen me what do I do? we were sent on a mission to hunt down beasts and when that particular one appeared, I could feel its energy, it was stronger than any other beasts I have ever seen and I left Elijah there to die. What do I tell Sir Oscar now?
Kai felt a surge of fear and guilt as he faced Oscar, who looked at him expectantly. He tried to act casual, but his voice betrayed him.
"Uh, hi, Sir Oscar. It was…fine. We found some beasts and killed them. Nothing too exciting."
Oscar frowned and looked past Kai as if expecting someone else.
"Where is Elijah? Did he not come back with you?"
Kai felt a lump in his throat. He knew he had to lie, or he would be in big trouble. He hoped Oscar would not see through his deception.
"He…he decided to stay behind and scout the area. He said he would catch up with me later. He should be here any minute now."
Oscar nodded, but his expression was still doubtful.
"So who is with the beast crystals you removed from the beast you guys killed" Oscar asked
"They are with Elijah and he will bring them with him when he comes back" Kai answered
"I can feel you are lying to me Kai, the way from here to Cairo is a long way, and you didn't even bring your sword back with you. So I ask again Kai where is Elijah" Oscar asked looking angry
Kai had seen the look on Oscar's face and he took a step back. Sir Oscar was a friendly but strict man and he knew there was no escape from this one, and he could not fight his way out. Oscar was a peak-rate beast hunter and he was just a second-rate beast hunter all he had to do now was to tell the truth or it would not end well for him.
"I mean, you sent us out on a mission and we did as you said. There were about seven intermediate-tier beasts. so we killed the beast and then a humanoid beast appeared and immediately I sensed its energy, I left Elijah there all alone. I won't lie to you, Sir Oscar I do not think Elijah can not survive because the beast was a mystical tier beast"
Oscar's face turned red with anger and disbelief. He could not believe what he was hearing from Kai. He had sent out two of his best beast hunters to complete a simple mission, and one of them had abandoned the other to die at the hands of a mystical tier beast. He felt a surge of rage and sorrow for Elijah, who had been his loyal and brave companion for many years.
"You did what? you coward! You traitor! Did you leave Elijah to die alone? How could you do such a thing? He was your partner, your friend, your brother in arms! And you ran away like a scared rabbit, leaving him to face a beast that even I would have trouble fighting! How dare you show your face here, after what you have done?" Oscar shouted, his voice loud making people look their way.
He grabbed Kai by the collar and lifted him, his eyes burning with fury. He punched Kai in the face sending him flying and then hitting his back against a wall.
After that, Oscar sent for Andrew and Raze who were both experienced and first-rate beast hunters. He wanted them to go to the forest where Kai had left Elijah and search for his body. He hoped that Elijah was still alive, but he knew that the chances were slim.
Kai had followed them on Oscar's orders to show them the spot where the humanoid beast had appeared. at least the beast should not be able to beat a peak-rate beast hunter and two first-rate beast hunters. he hoped.
"I pray you are alive Elijah, I do pray".

Somewhere away from where Elijah had been attacked by the beast. The mountain was a high peak that rose above the clouds, covered with snow and ice. The air was thin and cold, but also clear and fresh. The mountain had a hidden cave, where the hunter had made his home. It was a cozy and warm place, filled with books, weapons, and other things that the hunter had collected.
Elijah regained consciousness and looked around the cave. he saw the hunter looking at him as if he was confused. The hunter was a fairly old man in his late sixties with a white beard.
What, am I doing here and who are you? Elijah asked as he noticed that his wounds had been bandaged.
"I'm Lucas. a zenith-rate beast hunter. I've been hunting beasts for a long time, and I've learned a few tricks along the way. I saw your fight against the humanoid beast and also saw how your friend left you. I wonder how you work with people like that"
"A zenith-rate beast hunter, no wonder he was able to beat that beast so easily," Elijah said to himself
Well, I brought you here after you fell unconscious and you were also wounded. you did not expect me to leave you there alone in the forest, did you? You are lucky I intervened sooner, if not, you would have been the beast's lunch.
I also helped you because I saw talent in you and wanted to train you. so what do you say, do you want to train with me? Lucas asked as he brought his ear close to Elijah's mouth.
"What why not, yes, I have to say yes. I will be training from a high-rate hunter. this is the jackpot" YES, I would love to sir Lucas Elijah answered happily.

Steven was training in the Ironclaw training hall with Jake and Liam and he still felt bad for Elijah treating him as if he was helpless
