Chapter 76: Chapter 75: Rin's revenge

(Titus's POV)

Observing the skirmish from a distance, I witnessed a fierce battle unfolding at the abandoned church. The first combatant, Rin Tohsaka, donned a striking red Chinese dress with trousers, while her adversary appeared to be none other than the church's priest, Kirei Kotomine.

BOOM!

Another explosion echoed, escalating the intensity of the confrontation. Surprisingly, Rin, contrary to her portrayal in the anime, displayed remarkable strength. Engaging in hand-to-hand combat, she skillfully employed Bajiquan, a technique taught to her by Kirei Kotomine himself. While Rin might not seem a match for a powerhouse like Kirei, her dungeon-leveling and reaching maximum potential had elevated her abilities to surpass even high-ranking magi or formidable fighters. She could even hold her ground against some low-ranking fighting servants.

"She's maximizing the use of jewels as well," I muttered, observing Rin utilizing her signature jewel magecraft. Projecting jewels as projectiles, she attacked Kirei, who, being a master of Bajiquan, swiftly countered. However, unknown to him, the jewels were infused with a lethal poison. Shattering them triggered an explosion, leaving Kirei with tattered arms.

The skirmish persisted for a few more minutes until tranquility once again settled over the area. Thanks to the force field I had implemented to confine the disturbance within a specific range, the commotion was kept to a minimum.

"Be prepared to attend to my wife when she emerges," I instructed the silver-haired girl beside me.

"Understood," she nodded, and I proceeded towards the battleground.

Rin stood there, panting heavily, displaying cuts and bruises on her body. Notable among her injuries were her battered fists. Across from her lay Kirei Kotomine, covered in blood, clothes in tatters, missing an eye destroyed by Rin's projectiles, and an arm lost in the battle.

Approaching Rin, who had tears in her eyes, I sensed her mixed emotions. Despite Kirei's heinous acts, including the murder of Rin's father and interference with the Tohsaka property, he was still her guardian. He had imparted the skills of Bajiquan, taught her self-defense, and recommended her to the Clock Tower. She was her mentor without a doubt.

"You did well, Rin," I said, gently petting her. "Go and patch yourself up. There's no need to spill more blood if you don't want to."

Though I shouldn't be influencing her resolve, I could sense that Rin wasn't inclined to stain her hands with more blood.

"But, I…" Rin attempted to protest but halted, biting her lip. Eventually, she nodded and, passing a soft smile, left the scene.

Turning my attention to Kirei Kotomine, I approached and crouched down.

"It might be an odd time for introductions, but I'm Titus Dusklock, Rin's current husband," I smiled.

"I…I see… She seems to have found a good husband, given how strong she has become…" Kirei spoke, blood dripping from his mouth.

"Anyway, now that everything is over, church people will be coming to arrest you in a few minutes. Can you hold it, or do you prefer death?" I inquired.

Having already informed the Holy Church about Kirei's misdeeds and his whereabouts, I knew they would soon arrive. Despite their disdain for magi or mages, they were willing to collaborate to address mutual problems.

"If there's no use… of me… then I would like… eternal peace," Kirei answered.

Deciding that death was a more permanent solution, especially considering the Church's potential inhumane use of him, I agreed. Even if I had glimpsed his fate through my Odin's Eye, ensuring he posed no future threat was crucial.

"Well, I do have a use for you, but my wife won't be happy. And yes, your daughter is also under my protection, so rest in peace. Try not to be an jerk in your next life," I remarked as I conjured a spell.

Although I could have employed Kirei for certain tasks, I opted against it to avoid complicating matters with Rin.

"I see… Thank you for your kindness… I pray that you may attain a good life," Kirei smiled, closing his eyes.

I then cast a spell that released his soul from his body and disrupted his magical circuits. While I could have left him alone, the risk of resurrection through pseudo servant or as undead loomed, so I destroyed his magical circuits. I wasn't willing to take that chance.

After that, I left Kirei and approached where Rin was being attended to by the silver-haired girl.

After exchanging greetings, Rin inquired about the silver-haired girl. "She is Caren Hortensia. She is from the Holy Church and also my newly taken student," I introduced the 15-year-old girl with silver hair and golden eyes, another main character from the Fate franchise.

A few days ago, members of the Holy Church approached me to establish connections. Despite having engaged in significant business dealings with them and donating millions of dollars to their orphanages in the past, I declined their proposal due to my disdain for their ideology. Their actions, done in the name of God, often strayed from benefiting humanity, making them hypocrites who criticized mages while practicing magecraft themselves.

However, Caren Hortensia was a different case. As the main heroine of Fate/hollow ataraxia, she possessed the potential to be summoned as a servant, much like Rin or Sakura. So, I took Caren under my wings, similar to Olga Marie. Despite the church's management of orphanages, I wouldn't have supported them if not for Caren's situation.

"Caren Hortensia greets Lady Rin," Caren politely bowed and greeted Rin.

"And, oh, she is also Kirei Kotomine's daughter," I added, providing a bit more context.

Rin's brain seemed to short-circuit immediately. She turned around, plugged my ear, and whispered, "Why the heck did you invite the enemy's daughter?!"

Rin's concern was valid, given that we had just defeated her father a few minutes ago. "Don't worry, she doesn't know it. Kirei went to buy milk as soon as she was born," I explained Caren's circumstances.

"Is that so…" Rin sighed, shaking her head. Her face still held an annoyed expression, "So why is she not wearing any skirt?"

Caren wore her signature exorcist uniform, consisting of a dark shirt and hat. For the bottom, she had stockings over pantyhose but no skirt. I hadn't noticed until Rin pointed it out.

"Skirts are a hindrance. I removed the skirt to both increase my mobility and to seduce men," Caren said with an aloof face.

Rin and I were left speechless until Rin glared at me, inquiring about the latter part of Caren's statement.

"She is just 15," I clarified.

"Oh, that's okay then," Rin sighed in relief, knowing well that I had a strict stance against any involvement with women aged 18 or below.

"Anyway, go and freshen up. I have some matters to attend to," I stated.

Rin smiled and nodded, her expression hinting at an expectation. I chuckled, leaning down to plant a soft kiss on her cheek.

"Thank you, Titus," Rin beamed, momentarily forgetting the others present.

"Ahem, I'll see you later," I coughed, redirecting Bazett to escort Rin home and instructing Caren to attend to the church matters.

"Hai!" Both of them saluted and immediately went about their tasks.

Using teleportation, I arrived in front of a grand building adorned with the name "Uruk Investments" engraved on its entrance.

"Let's meet the golden boy of the show," I smiled, entering the building. It was finally time to encounter the king of heroes.
