Chapter 62: Intermission II

A deep space, cold and crushing in its vast emptiness.

Not a sound stirred in the blackness.

This place was truly befitting of the name, Abyss.

In the Abyss, a blob floated aimlessly, oblivious to the shifts in the dark sea around it. Strange colors swirled beneath its translucent skin.

Upon closer look, one could see the blob was a being called Slime.

But then...

Crack!

Boooom!

Without warning, a crackling tore through the silence, thundering and reverberating endlessly. The abyss flickered with bursts of blinding light, yet even this turmoil could not fully rouse the slime from its stupor.

Still drowsy, the slime could do nothing but stare blankly at the enormous, jagged crack now slicing through the once seamless darkness before it.

The slime was bewildered.

A crack?

How was this possible?

But those were the fleeting thoughts it could muster as it teetered on the brink of losing consciousness.

The thunderous sound from earlier had been the result of space itself cracking.

Amidst the chaotic scene unfolding before it, the slime puzzled over a crucial clue, which only deepened its confusion.

He could see the crack in front of him, a revelation that seemed to confirm he wasn't trapped in a dream. After all, his ability to perceive the world relied on his skill, Magic Sense, something beyond the realm of dreams.

But was it really that simple?

Not likely...

This world was an enigma, filled with countless unknowns. A few clues wouldn't unravel its mysteries.

In the present, the Abyss itself was one of these unknowns.

Merely seeing things through a skill didn't necessarily provide definitive answers at the moment.

So, where was this place?

The slime pondered the location of this place.

But before long, that question transformed into something quite different.

From the crack, an intense light began to spill out, illuminating the abyss.

The light drew nearer and nearer, its brilliance steadily intensifying as it spilled from the crack in space, like a radiant cascade within the otherwise inky abyss.

As it approached the slime, the form within the light gradually became more distinct. With each inch it closed, the figure took on the appearance of a slender and petite human-like being, emerging from the luminescence.

The mouth of the human figure moved slowly.

She appeared to be attempting to convey a message, but he couldn't interpret her words.

"#%$&@ %&@$#@"

The slime pondered what she was trying to convey, and then, all of a sudden, her next words reached him.

"Am I not allowed to say that to him? Have I come too far behind? But *^%#&%@ &*%*& this to him"

The slime was taken aback by the sudden and enigmatic voice emanating from the light.

Even at the moment he was trying his best to keep his consciousness together.

But suddenly,

Boooom!

Yet another thunderous sound resonated through the abyss, even more potent and tumultuous than before, as if the very fabric of the world was rending apart.

This disturbance arose from an unfamiliar presence, that was not supposed to exist in this place, no in this world itself.

And now the world was rejecting her existence as though the body was battling against foreign intruders, much like our immune system combating viruses.

Sensing this, the light speaks to him in a urgent voice.

"I can't stay here for too long. I'll disappear anytime so please, listen closely."

The slime didn't pay heed to other things and just tried to focus on her voice as much as his conscience allowed because of the urgency and importance indicated in her voice.

"&$%# needs to be stopped. &%#save &!@# Hinata *%$%$ @&$#% is World. #%@&! Destroyed. @&!$@ time. "

The slime struggled to make sense of the cryptic words from the light. Some phrases sounded ominous, but much of it resembled an unfamiliar language to him.

As the world began to consume the light from the fractured space, akin to a relentless black hole, the light soon realized that further communication would be futile.

Most of the information she tried to convey would be censored by the world before he could comprehend it and would just sound like radio noise.

*

Her sacrifice to reach this place had been immense, a testament to her unshakable determination.

The depth of her motivation and loyalty was beyond anyone's comprehension. There were likely myriad feelings and emotions fueling her journey, but she pressed on, regardless of the hardships and sacrifices.

The risk was staggeringly high, and the price to pay equally immense.

Yet, she continued.

After what felt like an eternity of torment, she finally succeeded.

And finally She met him.

But despite this, she was unable to leave him a single clue.

The mere thought of this brought her to the brink of tears.

She had striven harder than anyone in the world to arrive at this moment, to meet him, and to forestall the impending chaos.

Her love for him was unquenchable, defying death and time itself.

So, with just a few sentences, devoid of any apparent meaning, but laden with an immeasurable longing, love, and profound yearning, she uttered,

"Hiiro, I miss you."

**

The slime, Hiiro, on the brink of drifting into unconsciousness, was jolted back to awareness. However, this awakening was limited to his mind, and he could only watch the radiant female figure with complete stillness.

He still couldn't discern her face due to the brilliance of the light, but he grasped the complexity of her emotions through her words. This only added to his confusion about her identity, the emotions she felt, and most importantly, the reason behind them.

Why did she harbor such feelings for him?

Yet, the enigmatic circumstances left him with no time to dwell on these questions for long.

Numerous questions swirled in his mind, but answers were scarce, and the one capable of providing them was vanishing, being drawn into the crack before him.

He desperately wished to inquire about the meaning behind her earlier words and why she had refrained from speaking further, but his voice remained unresponsive.

Alas, it was too late.

The light faded entirely, leaving behind only a few heartfelt words and a radiant smile filled with love and affection.

"Please, please survive."

Then, silence.

The cracks vanished as if they had never existed in the first place.

Once again, emptiness, silence, and darkness enveloped the Abyss where Hiiro floated.

This time, however, he was acutely aware of what was transpiring.

He glanced around, attempting to make sense of his surroundings, but was met with an excruciating ache in his brain. It felt as if someone had plunged their hands into his head and was violently stirring his thoughts.

He yearned to cry out in pain, but his voice remained trapped, rendering his attempts futile.

Then, suddenly...

Flash!!

A blinding burst of light filled Hiiro's vision, abruptly putting an end to the violent torment assaulting his head. The surroundings began to shift.

Although a lingering ache persisted from the earlier pain, it had become more bearable.

Hiiro's senses gradually adapted to this new environment.

He found himself in a place that felt strangely familiar—a structure with a proper roof and four walls, a house.

It struck a chord of recognition, though he couldn't quite grasp it.

His attention then, shifted to the two individuals surrounding him, who lay in peaceful slumber.

Despite their changed appearances, he instantly recognized their identities, a familiarity that transcended physical alterations.

The realization washed over him—He had finally returned after the enigmatic and strangely realistic experience.

He knew this with more certainty than anyone, as he carried with him the vivid memories of every word and emotion the light-bearing female had expressed toward him.

Hiiro collected his thoughts, reflecting on the events that had transpired and what lay ahead.

If he were to take the words spoken by the light seriously, he knew that numerous perilous situations awaited him and those close to him.

His analytical mind was already formulating contingency plans for worst-case scenarios, a characteristic of his nature.

The need to devise a plan was critical while the memories were fresh.

However, for now, he set that matter aside, placing it as a secondary concern.

His primary focus was reuniting with the individuals in front of him.

He slowly shifted his body, rousing the two individuals around him, and a heartwarming reunion ensued.

On that day, Individual Hiiro, finally woke up from his long slumber, taking deliberate steps closer to the destiny that awaited him.
