Chapter 2: Death

(George)

I had deemed my life over in such a moment, but then, life was breathed into me once more. My eyelids breaking apart in total Seperation as I glanced around with blurry vision. Formerly, I was in my room, but now I found myself in some sort of hallway painted in a red hue. My body as light as a feather. Still unable to see my surroundings with decent vision, I pulled upon what felt to be a bar, lifting myself from the floor my feather-like body laid on. I felt a strong resistance against my body which kept it somewhat anchored to the ice-cold ground below me.

"Huh..everything feels so out of place, where am I?"

No one was here, but I still said those words outloud, and was disappointed when they echoed off the walls.

I began to step forward, moving at a sluggish pacing. It was all strange to me, I felt alive in every outer feature; however, deep within I felt I was simply dead, nothing more to it. Perhaps this sluggish walk was my embrace into heaven- at least- that's where I always hoped I would go. If I didn't, hell— it's just me. I'd simply rot for eternity and be forgotten within weeks— not even, simply a few days. I am just an average man after all. I recall spending all of my life as a basic, timid and hushed individual. I never understood the point, but perhaps that's just me.

"Jeez, this is a bloody extensive walk."

I mumbled under my breath once I had reached a certain distance, it had really not been that far yet, but the weight against me made it seem like so. My eyes noticed a door up ahead, and that was what gave me the motivation to at least push forward for the door.n

Wooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

At last! I had made it to the door, my entry into heaven was right there. Upon turning the knob and opening it, I heard a click. The world around me smashed apart and I found myself falling down some sort of endless vortex. Was this the death I was sentenced to? I was simply asked to spend my entire life in a never ending void. If that's god will, I guess it's fine. He knows what's best for the way I lived. So, I guess— this is all okay in the end, right? Those thoughts were exactly what ran through my mind at this moment.

"I..can't even complain in the end! Take me where you wish!"

I shouted aloud in the lonely existence, simply listening to the sound of air blowing in every direction around me.

Eventually I began to notice my vision going from red to a more grey hue. The endless void stopped with me crashing against a almost newly placed floor. I heard a lot woman's voice calling out to me, and I followed it's sound. Everything became progressively more vibrant and normal looking with each step I made.

"Who are you? Where am I?"

I shouted aloud, but I received no answer at all. Rather, it seemed the voice only cared about me reaching them, not what I had to say. My feet began to reach a stable point, which allowed me to sprint forward until I saw a decently sized gap where a door seemed to have stood once. Launching myself through it, I couldn't believe my eyes! It was a beautiful garden decorated in gold lining, and golden roses. In the center of it all, laid a woman in a overly large scale. She was- to say the least, confident- and beautiful, to me.

"It's— it's so pretty here..is this the afterlife?"

I inquired info, my voice light, and easily readable. I was too caught up in the gorgeous scenery.

"Teh..no. This is something stretching far past that, George."

The woman replied, her voice rather sweet and gentle, yet held a heavy, justified tone to it.

"What do you mean then..uh..miss?"

Once again, I asked. My hand tracing up the stem of a rose, it had some sort of texture to it which just left both my mind and body in satisfaction.

"This is realm of superiority."

Confidently, the woman replied. Her own fingers trailing against the golden scale. It was balanced, even despite her laying on one of its sides.

"Hm..the realm of superiority..what?"

I was seriously intrigued now, so I inquired more info.

"You died correct? It's very rare that one of the die deutschens would send someone here after death. That must mean you were an exception, so, welcome. If you found your way here, I suppose it was fate. It is required I ask you this— do you want to have connection?"

She asked, and well, I suppose she was right. I am a dead man.

"Connection? I'm not quite sure what you mean, m'lady."

I asked in curiosity.

"Ah, right. In this world, you'll sometimes be offered connections. Connections are like contracts, where two people become connected, in spirit, for as long as they live. I am Dike, the goddess of justice. I ask, once more, do you want to have a connection?"

She responded, seemingly straight forward about everything that was talked about.

I took a moment to consider but had ultimately came up with a decision to give this strange "connection" a try. After all, you only live once, or- well I did.

"Sure, I'll do it..do I hafta sign something?"

I asked in clarification of how such a connection was formed. Was it some sort of paper I signed, a oath, or what?

"An undying vow between the two of us has now been made, from now on, I am your overseer persay, your guide."

She said, before continuing to speak once more.

"George, come here."

She said, while motioning with her hand for me to approach her.

I nodded and began to approach the lady named "Dike". Who was now my "connection". This was all still somewhat confusing to my small brain, but no matter, I'm sure I would soon understand.
