Chapter 2: First morning in a New world

Klein groaned as he tried waking but like a heavy curtain covering his vision, he found himself struggling to open his eyes.

uggh…!

He groaned when he suddenly felt a throbbing headache in his head, It was like a blunt nail was being forcefully keeled into his head. He grabbed his temples in an attempt to diffuse the pain.

Seriously… couldn't he have made it less painful…

I bet he did it on purpose…

That sadistic bastard…!

He cursed the ROB for making him suffer such a terrible headache. He tried to lift himself from the bed, but his hands buckled under his own weight. But he fell on his back against the soft mattress.

"Haaa…Whatever" He threw his hands in resignation, and lay on the soft bed, while waiting for the headache to subside.

Finally, when he was able to open his eyes, the first thing he saw was the simple white ceiling of the room, from the periphery of his vision he also noticed a nightstand next to his bed and a closet on the other side.

When the headache subsided, he again tried to get up from the bed, and he succeeded albeit with a little difficulty.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, he roamed his eyes throughout the room, aside from the nightstand and closet, there was a small bathroom, crammed in with a sink, a shower, and a toilet opposite to him. On the left of his nightstand, the wall was completely made of glass, covered by a dark curtain.

On the right of his closet was a wall, the height of his waist, separating the bedroom and living room.

He stopped observing when he heard a voice in his head, and he muttered "How troublesome…"

'OH! I forgot to mention some things, didn't I? Teehee…' it said 'I know you don't want to have anything to do with the cannon and stay away from trouble, But that won't do y'know~. That would be sooo~ boring. So I made sure that you don't get too OP too soon and mess with some of your memories.

Ah! But don't worry I compensated for the trouble by making you the new 'RED DRAGON EMPEROR'. So be sure to entertain me hehehe…'

Even thinking about what kind of creepy expression he must be having on his old and wrinkled face, makes my body unconsciously shudder.

So I can't really ignore the Plot huh…Wait!!... PLOT!...

Which world am I in?....

And more importantly… who the heck is this 'RED DRAGON EMPEROR'...

Klein widened his recently opened eyes as the realization dawned upon him.

He wiped my memories of whatever world I am in currently…

He took a few slow and deep breaths to control himself from cursing the damned bastard out loud. Mostly because he didn't want to wake up his neighbors… and also because he was afraid that if he shouted loudly, he might cough up blood and die…again.

As he took some deep breaths, he felt his headache subsiding. He, again, tried leaving his bed. This time he finally succeeded in doing so.

He stood up on his feet and almost fell down on the ground if he hadn't leaned against the nearby in time.

He slowly tried to walk towards the bathroom with shaky legs. He grasped the doorknob with his weak grip.

Click

Opening the door, he arrived in front of a mirror above the sink. He leaned into the sink for support as he stared at the new 'him' in the mirror.

Messy coal black hair, deep sapphire blue eyes, deathly pale skin, sunken cheeks, a fragile frame, and a simple white shirt…

Klein looked like he was suffering from a terminal disease and had died just recently.

Wait! Was this body a dead body that I just recently inherited?

Meh…Who cares? Klein shrugged his shoulders.

Ken Nishimoto, a seventeen-year-old orphan, both parents died in a car crash when he was just five. He recently moved to Kuoh Town, to study in the famed Kuoh Academy as a second-year student.

"How convenient" Klein–nay, ken muttered.  But then he heard a voice in his head, interrupting his internal musings.

[Greetings human!] It was an ancient voice. Echoing with an insurmountable power and authority.

"Huh…who's there?!" Ken instantly turned on guard, ignoring the protests of his weak body "Show yourself, coward!"

"Who are you calling a coward brat?!?!" This time the voice came not directly in his head, but it echoed in the small bathroom. Along with the voice, a bright light flashed from his left hand. When the light subsidized, A red gauntlet with a spherical gen at its center covered his left hand.

"Wow!... Is that magic? Did I just unlock my inner potential, just like that?" Ken's eyes glittered with stars as he carefully examined the magical red gauntlet from different angles, He lightly knocked on the red part of the gauntlet.

Ken also tried to chew the green crystal embedded at the center of the gauntlet. Until finally, he grabbed the end of it with his right hand and tried to peel it off his hand…

"Ow! Ow! Owww…!"

"Oye idiot! What are you doing?!" the voice exclaimed, baffled at the idiocy of this blue-eyed teenager.

Oops! I forgot about him!

'Ah! You're still here!' Klein said while he rubbed his left hand, trying to soothe his pain.

"What do you mean 'you're still here'?" The voice annoyedly said. "And stop addressing me as 'The voice' Damnit!"

'And so the voice exclaimed again! '

"I said stop calling me—!!!"

"OK! OK! It was just a joke, a joke Geez~" Ken stopped joking and he got a little serious "But who are you anyway?"

"I am the one and only Red Dragon of Domination, Y Ddriag Goch" the Voice– I mean dragon declared with pride.

But Ken, on the other hand, froze in shock" Did you just say Y Ddriag Goch–As in the Red Dragon… you wouldn't be the mythological Dragon that appears on the national flag of Wales would you?"

"Indeed! I am the same Welsh Dragon that you've heard in legends!"

Curious about the new world Ken found himself in, he probed further "Does that mean the Other mythological dragons like White Dragon, Fafnir, Vritra, etc. also exist?"

"You got over that pretty quickly," Ddriag said, impressed "About your question–yes all those dragons you've heard in 'mythologies' exist. And not only them– Gods, devil, Angels, Fallen angles, youkai, etc. exist"

"Does that mean the Biblical gods also exist"

"Yeah… Unfortunately, he also exists…" Ddriag practically spits it out– his words dripping with malice. It was evident that the Red Dragon hated the Biblical God with a fervor.

"And I presume he is somehow related to you being in my head and also this red gauntlet" Ken waved his left hand to further emphasize his point.

Ddriag took a moment to calm himself, and I couldn't help but think that we're a bit similar as I was also cursing a GOD just a few moments ago.

"The Red Gauntlet in your arm is called BOOSTED GEAR. It is a type of sacred gear– A gift from the Biblical Gods to humans so that they can protect themselves from other supernatural beings.

The BOOSTED GEAR contains within itself the Soul of The Red Dragon– which means me, this moment you awakened your gear, I was able to communicate with you.

Also, the gear gives its wielder the power to Boost their power every ten seconds–whether be it physical aspect or magical aspect"

"Woah… It must've been hard huh…" Ken's expression turned sullen as he lowered his head.

"Don't try to butter me up. I live in your head remember, I know what you're thinking…" However, Ddriag wasn't impressed by his acting.

"Is that so?" Ken raised his head as he stared at himself in the mirror.

His reflection stared back with an unsettling smile "You saying that must mean you've already seen my memories correct?"

Ddriag hummed in agreement.

That will make things easier…

"Considering you are trapped inside this little trinket…" Ken tapped at the green crystal of boosted gear "...And since I possess it, It is safe to assume that we will be 'together' for a long time. In that case…why don't we try to get along? What do you say Ddriag?"

Despite talking with a being far beyond him, Ken showed no nervousness, no anxiety, and certainly no fear as he said that.

"Hmm…As long as you beat the White One. I am fine with getting along with you, partner"

"White One? Who is that?" Ken, who was busy imagining various scenarios in case Ddriag refused, was surprised as all Ddriag asked was to defeat someone.

"As you said, you are the wielder of boosted gear. As such, there isn't much I can do…"Ddriag stopped for a moment, before continuing "Normally, It is inevitable for the wielder of Boosted gear to fight against the wielder of divine dividing– the sacred gear containing the soul of the Vanishing Dragon.

But since you are the wielder of Boosted gear… I am not so sure about it" Ddriag's tone grew heavy as he finally said "...So just promise me that you will fight the white one with your life on the line"

"I, Ken Nishimoto, pledge upon my name that I will fight this 'white one' with all I've got" Ken stood ramrod straight as he pledged.

"Not Klein scardon huh…?" Ddriag Scoffed lightly

'Both. But I would prefer it if you don't address me as Klein. Because I am not Klein anymore, but Ken instead]

"...Whatever…" Ddriag didn't pursue the matter any further and returned to his slumber– Or so he tried before he was stopped "Wait! Wait! Wait!"

"What?"

"Do you know, like, can't you like, uhh…" Ken tried to say something, only to fail as he stuttered repeatedly.

"Spit it out already" Ddriag annoyedly exclaimed

"Can't you give me a magic core of something like those dragons in fantasy stories do?!" He shouted indignantly "I really really really wanna try some magic you know?"

"I—" Ddriag tried to say something, only to find himself at a loss of words as he stared at the slightly hopeful and excited face of his unique host. Gone was the cynical psychopath, all that was left was a curious child– wanting to get his hands on a new toy.

Ddriag knew that Ken was acting. He was living in his head after all. But He still couldn't bear to see the pathetic face his new host was making.

So he sighed heavily and said, "I can convert your heart into a draconic heart, But your body is far too weak to handle it currently…"

"Is that so?" Looking at the dejected expression on Kle–Ken's face as he stared at his twig-like thin arms, Ddriag hurriedly tried to explain "But you can still learn the Human magic system. I can share some of my previous host's memories with you"

"Really?!" Within an instant, Ken's previous gloomy face turned cheerful as he cheered "Yoohoo~ you're great Ddriag!"

Ddriag's slightest hope that Ken wasn't acting broke just like that, and with it came a heap of shame from being played by a human, not even a fraction of his age "Ye-Yeah, so you better train your body properly"

With that Ddriag hurriedly dived deep into their shared consciousness, to avoid this 'Man-child'

Ken also didn't stop him, instead, he slapped himself with both his hands and said to his mirror counterpart "This time I will live my life to the fullest"

"Definitely!"
