Chapter 22: Infelicitous wind
Chapter twenty two
Within the opulent walls of the palace, courtiers and ministers expressed their concerns about the horrific genocide that had happened to the village.
King Romero dismissed their concerns with chilling nonchalance and revealed his complex long-term strategy. His goal was to create terror in the hearts of the people and prevent an alliance between them and Leonardo. In addition, he even wished that all the villages would be destroyed. A lot of blood would be spilled in order to achieve a high level of magic which helped him to have a great army. Romero knew witchcraft and one of his advisers was a witch. A sorceress called Janibes.
"Idiots must be cut out of this world," Romero bluntly announced to the assembled ministers. "They have no place in my country and the world I will soon take over." Blaming the impoverished villages for his destruction, he justified his actions as a necessary purge. "My father put a lot of pressure on them to leave their villages and come to the capital due to the loss and high costs of protecting the villages. But their prejudice towards their homes will be the cause of their misery and destruction, not my commands."
Romero had heard Leonardo's message and he himself had given Leonardo a message.
When he heard Leonardo's message he said :"As I expected Leonardo is an interesting person." The battle of brains and strategy had begun.

Meanwhile, back at the camp, Arya was shaking with shock because of the genocide. She was surrounded by the comforting presence of Sayo and Richard.
Since Sayo had a similar experience, he could sympathize with Arya.
Richard: "No tyrannical government has ever won in history. They were all overthrown by people."
Leonardo engaged in a heated conversation with Rose and Frank, discussing the urgent need to rally the people and attack the capital.
Referring to the fear that Romero had created in the villages, Rose expressed doubts and said: "An alliance may not be formed. Maybe people will stop fighting. Perhaps they will be afraid to attack capital after seeing Romero's brutality."
But Leonardo believed that people have nothing to lose. He said :" No. They have nothing to lose and they also have the opportunity to gain everythin they want by standing by our side."
Rose :" I really hope you would be right about this one."
Frank: "Unification with the people may take time. In that case, we have some time to design a good plan too."
Leonardo to Rose: "Even if the people won't join us because of their fear, the option of joining the bandits is still on the table."
In the distance, Arthur heard their conversation, a frown etched on his forehead, indicating an alliance with the bandits. Sadness consumes his senses. Little did they know, their plans were on the brink of chaos. Arthur didn't like the idea of alliance with bandits.
A few hours later under the cover of night, as Leonardo, Arthur, Fred, and Johan prepare to visit a village to discuss alliance possibilities, a sudden attack erupts and the group is caught off guard inside the camp while everyone else were busy doing their job.
There were seven werewolves, and among them the faces of the two werewolves who had fought with them before can be seen. With their strong sense of smell, they came to their camp and surprised everyone.
At the worst time, the worst enemies appeared.
All the fighters of the group took their swords and axes and fought.
Those who were not fighters, like Bart, took shelter inside the tents with great fear.
Swords collided with claws and a fierce battle ensued. Werewolves were looking for Joe. They had called the surrounding wolves to attack the gang members.
While defending himself and Arya with all his might, Sayo was wounded from behind by a wolf, but continued to fight. Sina and Robert had a fight with a werewolf. Elena, Fred, Roberta, and Joe each fought with the wolves of the forest.
The moon was not full and the werewolves could not use all their strength, but they were still strong.
The fight escalated to such an extent that Leonardo unleashed his magic. Rose and Gregor had a fight with a werewolf. Arthur engages in a brutal hand-to-hand fight with a lone wolf. Amidst the chaos, Sayo, Arya, Richard, Rose, Elena, Frank, and Sina were fighting, getting hurt in the process.
A werewolf tried to kill Robert but Johan stopped it with his quick intervention.
Even Frank and a few other old men of the group put a sword and reached out of their tents to help.
The fight was going in favor of the werewolves, and while most of the fighters were wounded, Joe surrendered himself to the werewolves in an unexpected sacrifice.
"This is because of me. You are only looking for me right? Take me and spare others life."
The werewolves stopped fighting when they heard Jo's words. The wolves also stopped attacking because werewolves commanded.
If he werewolves continued to fight, no one would survive. All but Arthur and Leonardo were wounded. So Joe in fact saved many lives.
The werewolves seemed to want Joe alive. They tied Joe with a rope and were about to leave, while Leonardo was weakened by the use of magic, he shouted: "Joe, why did you do this?"
"Leonardo, please forget me. I should have died a long time ago," Joe said while his hands and feet were tied with rope. "Focus on your fight with Romero." The werewolves turned back to their human form and the wolves ran around.
"You're not that coward," one of the werewolves said to Joe. The rest of the group was lying beaten, wounded and exhausted while the werewolves leave them behind.
The worst thing happened at the most inopportune moment.
Bart rushed out of the tent to attend to the wounded. First he went to Rose.
Sayo and Arya both had bad wounds but still worried about each other.
Leonardo fell unconscious on the ground due to weakness and exhaustion caused by magical techniques. And only Arthur was left standing.
This sudden attack on the camp disrupted the plans.
In addition to the physical injuries, the group was also shocked by the loss of Joe.
