Chapter 3: The party

Yun hotels, one of the biggest hotels in the city, became a temporary home for hundreds of guests. Every guest who arrived, no matter the age, came in flashy cars and elegant outfits that screamed of wasted luxury. But who cares?

Inside the hall was a full display of generational wealth. Everywhere was lit with glamor and mockery to the less wealthy who managed to attend the party.

Guests were still pouring in, but those who were already there were either discussing with one another or trying to guess the amount of money spent on the decoration, food, drinks, and the calm music playing in the background.

Not long, Mr. Yun walked into the hall, hand in hand with an elegant woman who looked a bit older than him. Behind them were look-alike siblings of the same age and height… they must be twins.

The four of them, with beaming smiles, made their way to the guests, but before they could get to their destination, reporters flocked around Mr. Yun, like a swarm of bees hovering around flowers.

The rest members of the family shared hugs and a few words with acknowledged guests before Mr. Yun walked to the stage to address everyone.

Meanwhile, at a corner was Ms. Katherine, who looked worried as she tried repeatedly to make a call. She had texted and called Kaizer numerous times: none of her calls were answered, neither were the texts read.

The woman couldn't help but let her salty tears rain down her cheeks while mumbling; "Kai, please don't do this to me. Please take your calls!"

On the stage, Mr. Yun had said a lot about the history of the Yun cooperation and had received numerous applauses from the guests. Just as he was about to speak further, the door burst opened, calling everyone's attention.

Standing with his back to the bright light coming from the passageway, was the silhouette of a tall and slender man whom nobody could decipher his face.

Everyone watched to know who it was that would dare to interrupt an ongoing party of the most affluent family in Green city.

The young man didn't keep them waiting. With one hand in his trouser pocket, he slowly but gracefully made his way towards them. With how languid and confident he appeared to be, some people in the room already knew who he was.

The members of the Yun family were seething with rage as they watched the 'stigma' of the family walk over. Madam Yun moved her gaze around the hall, in search of whatnot until her glance stopped on Ms. Katherine with a death glare.

Ms. Katherine subconsciously lowered her head when she saw the glare she was getting, but that didn't stop her from allowing a smile to grace her pretty face. But when she saw the dissatisfied look on Mr. Yun's face, her smile slowly slipped away.

The Young man's aesthetic was finally in full view by now. The person whom everyone thought was a man, was actually none other than Kai, the Yun family's foster daughter!

Scornful remarks flew in the air. With every step Kai took forward, to the people, it felt as though he was ruthlessly stabbing someone. Still, he paid no heed to anyone and turned to look for a vacant seat at an inconspicuous angle.

It felt as though the table of two that was separated from every other table was purposely done for him and his mother.

Madam Yun's breath hitched in her throat when she saw Kai walking over. Didn't she tell her not to show her face here today? Why did she come? What if she opens her mouth?

Her fear didn't come true because, unlike she thought, Kai made a beeline to the table that was specifically arranged for him and his mother. He crossed one leg over the other, pulled out white air pod from the case and put them on, then leaned back on the seat and closed his eyes.

Madam Yun heaved a sigh of relief. 'That was a close call,' she thought.

Seeing that her son was seated, Ms. Katherine smiled with lips sealed and went to him. She felt like an outcast in the party anyway, so what was the use of trying to get involved with people who wouldn't spare her a glance?

A disappointed look flickered through Mr. Yun's eyes before he snorted softly and continued with his speech… betoken for everyone to mind what brought them together.

At another table, a lady with beauty and class that would rival a goddess, sat there with an air of arrogance. Her unwavering gaze has been on Kaizer ever since he walked in and she has no intention of taking her gaze off the human candy any moment.

"Lisa, what are you looking at?" a male voice pulled her attention back to the young man she was sitting with.

"Someone more worthy of being my man than you," she spat without reserve or care for the young man's feelings.

The young man moved his gaze to where Lisa was staring at and snorted when he saw who it was. "You find that thing interesting?" The disdain in his voice was thicker than slime.

"A 'thing' you say? At least, he looks more handsome and posh than you'll ever be," she gave him an unamused smile before she made an attempt to leave the table.

However, before she could do that, the young man held her hand and stopped her. "Lisa, for how long do you want me to apologize? I accept that I cheated on you, but can you blame me? You've been away for five solid years after that incident that almost caused…"

His voice trailed off when he saw the murderous look on her awe-inspiring face. Even though she was angry, she still looked extremely beautiful!

No matter what, this beauty must not slip through his fingers! She's his fiancé after all, and no man must take her away from him. Even though he's cheating, he must make sure to always pacify her!

With those thoughts dancing in his mind, he smiled and changed the topic. She hates it when she is reminded of what happened five years ago, so he must respect that boundary, else, he'd lose her.

"I'm not sure if you know that my dad has a foster daughter? Well, she and her mother had been living abroad for 20 years. Five years ago, they returned to the country…"

"You're saying that young man is a lady?" Lisa frowned slightly.

The Young Master of the Yun family nodded. "Yes. Her name is Kai. She stopped dressing like a lady a few months ago. She's on steroids to make herself become a man just to fight for the position of the head of the family with me. She feels that the First Miss title is not enticing enough! What a greedy bitch!" He sneered.

Observing Kai better, she does look like a lady with her wavy long hair, pierced ears, and gorgeous face. But her stamina and way of walking doesn't look ladylike. She is even able to pull off a man's outfit better than most men! But when the idea of steroids is embraced, then it might be possible.

Lisa lowered her gaze to her fiancé's hands on hers and slowly pulled them away. "Being anywhere is better than hanging around with a hopeless cheat like you." She picked up her wine glass and walked away from the table.

Even though her fiancé was trying to blame her for his cheating, Lisa refused to be gaslighted. She was way smarter than that.

Her direction was Kai's table until she heard some dirty plans from two ladies on her way.
