Chapter 45: Hollywood party (1)
"Mary, can you check if something's missing." Amy asked Mary about her dressing. She is going to the annual party arranged by Walt Disney Studio. It is not something you can reject after being invited, especially Amy cannot. She has recently signed the contract with Touch-stone and Miramax pictures, both of which are subsidiary companies of Walt Disney Studio. Even if she hadn't signed with them, Amy would still have had come, after all six major studios control more than 80 percent of the hollywood resources.
"You look great. Black color suits you more than we thought." Mary looked at Amy's black colutte dress and praised. Black seems to magnify Amy's charm and sexiness.
Amy was happy hearing the praise. She was tortured for three hours by Elaine to get styled for the dinner.
Amy and Richard entered the Melanie resort together. Although it was called a dinner, but its actually a party. Richard instructed Amy: "I won't be with you all the time later. Many of the big names would be present here. Remember all the things I told you before."
Amy nodded. She started counting Richard's instructions on the fingertips: "I know. You have already instructed me all this information more than once. 1) Don't take alcohol and if someone gives, then reject politely by the excuse of underage drinking. 2) Greet everyone politely. 3) Don't try to cling or chat longer with any big names if they don't show interest in talking."
Richard sighed helplessly. He's doing all this for the betterment of his artists. Hollywood parties are the most beneficial and dangerous at the same time for actors. There are many opportunities of making contacts with big names or getting work, but there are also some people who are present with ulterior motives.
"Where is Chris. Wasn't he going to come with us." Amy asked about Chris. The chris she was talking about is Chris Evans, the other artist under Richard. Richard has only signed with two actors, Amy and Chris. Amy's career has been wonderful from the start. While Chris also signed at the same time as Amy last year and his recent movie "Not another teen movie" performed well at the box office despite its negative reviews from the critics.
Richard replied: "Look there he is. He arrived before us." He pointed toward a direction where a handsome blond boy was standing in a formal dress. The boy also saw Amy and Richard and came toward them with a sunny smile.
They greeted each other with hug. Amy said to Chris: "No matter how many times I see you, I feel a crush looking at your face. I think you should smile less outside, otherwise those women wouldn't be able help tearing your clothes."
Chris face started turning red. Amy does it everytime with him. Seeing Chris's embarrassment, Richard glared at Amy: "At least stop doing it outside. You are making him uncomfortable."
Amy replied innocently: "What? I didn't say anything wrong. You won't understand as you are not a woman. It's difficult for us ladies to handle so much sunshine." Amy then looked at Chris: "Tell me Chris. Aren't you handsome. How many love letters you get when you walk on the road."
Chris who had just recovered, his face again turned red. He looked away not daring to look at Amy again.
Richard sighed. He's stopping Amy because he understand. For the young boys who have entered or just passed puberty, its an hellish task to control themselves with Amy.
Anyway, they all entered the party together.
This party was arranged by Walt Disney, so it wasn't surprising seeing it so grand. At least, half of the important people in Hollywood were present. Amy passed along many people and greeted everyone with a smile.
There were many big acting names present including Brad Pitt and his wife Jennifer Aston, hollywood saint Keanu reeves, this year's Oscar queen Julia Roberts, Winona, Helen hunt, Catherine Zeta Jones, Amy's co-stars Daniel day Lewis and heartthrob Leonardo, etc. She even met Tom but just greeted superficially as everyone was present.
After greeting as many people she could, Amy was bored from all the stuff and stood in a corner to rest for a while. Among her friends, Henry, Rachel and Christopher didn't come, while Evans was nowhere in the sight.
While Amy was looking around for the traces of Richard or others, a person came to Amy and introduced himself: "Hello, I am Cyrus Graham, owner of Graham pictures."
Amy saw the appearence of the man and from his frivolous tone and the unconcealed lust in his eyes, she knew it was a trouble. She just coldly replied: "I am Amy Collins."
Amy did not pay attention to the person, but he seemed to be quiet persistent and acted as if he didn't see her cold attitude. "I have heard a lot about the most beautiful actress Amy Collins and here you are more beautiful than what I heard."
Many people in the surroundings saw all this, but no one came forward to stop. Most of the people didn't want to offend a producer unnecessarily as not to affect themselves, while those who could were just watching the show. Just as Amy's patience was reaching the end, a voice addressed her: "Amy you are here. I was looking everywhere for you. I have a friend to introduce to you."
Amy turned around and saw Al Pacino walking toward her. She was excited as if saw a life saving straw. She replied: "I am coming."
The producer named Cyrus didn't want to let Amy go, but he couldn't do anything with Pacino. He could only watch Amy going away with Alfred angrily.
On the way, Amy said gratefully: "Thank you Al. It was a big help."
Alfred acted as if he didn't do anything to help: "There's no need to be thankful. This is Hollywood, you will face such things a lot. I hope you can be strong. Now come with me, I really have some people to introduce to you."
