Chapter 51: Chapter 51 - First Class [1]

I had spent pretty much the entire night studying, but, due to my Arcane Healing I didn't exactly suffer from missing out on a night's worth of sleep. Arcane Healing erased any signs of exhaustion from my body, though I would probably make sure to sleep at least once a week.

I could probably physically go on, but the human brain isn't wired to go through prolonged periods of time without sleep. Not sleeping for a long time resulted in me being incapable of differentiating humans and Mana Beasts, and it also made me hallucinate.

I was currently in my room, getting ready for class. According to my time table, today I had a swordsmanship class first.

I wasn't entirely sure on whether it was a practical or theory lesson, so I threw both my books and the sportswear supplied by the school into my cloak of darkness.

The school uniforms consisted of a set of trousers, a white shirt, a white tie and a white blazer with golden edges on the cuffs. The clothes were fairly high quality, so I expected them to last a while.

Of course, they weren't comfortable clothes, though I didn't really have any expectations as it was a school uniform after all. They weren't really made to be comfy.

According to my timetable, my instructor was that beast lady I met yesterday.

Adrienne was her name, she was a Class 1 Awakened who was a master of close combat. Though, she was very proficient with other weapons too. It's just that she was best at close quarters. She was definitely someone I wanted to learn from.

Well, I was willing to learn from anyone who was capable of making me stronger.

As I was about to leave my room, I noticed an envelope at the bottom of my door.

'Ah, it must've been slid into the gap between the door and the floor.'

Opening it, I saw two things. I saw a letter with awful hand writing, and a drawing that was kind of terrible.

The handwriting was almost illegible, but I could get through it.

It read, 'Dear big brother, I'm annoyed that you didn't at least text me about how you got into the Academy. But thankfully, her Highness told me and our eldest brother about it. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I'm proud of you. I hope you're doing okay without us, and I also wanted to show off how I'm managing to write and draw again! Even if I'm blind, I think that my drawing is pretty good, even if it's a little basic. Hope you like it. Lots of love, your sister. Oh and you better write back, or I'll have her Highness scold you.'

The drawing was kind of terrible, it was a drawing of three people with white hair holding hands, with a house in the background and a big yellow circle in the top left.

Two of the people in the drawing were men, the other was a woman in a wheelchair. The drawings were barely a level above stickmen, but she was blind and a child. My expectations weren't set high.

'Still, for a drawing to be this awful... There's no point in keeping it, I may as well get rid of it.'

As I prepared to bin the drawing and the letter, I hesitated. I didn't know why. I was me, I wasn't 'Reinhardt Hyperius' from this world. I was simply me. But even so, I couldn't throw it away. It was inexplicable, but I couldn't bring myself to get rid of those two pieces of paper.

So, instead of throwing the letter and the drawing into the bin, I decided to leave it on my desk.

'For goodness sake. I can't even throw a useless drawing into the bin.'

Sighing, I left my room, a little disturbed at how my own body wouldn't obey me.

And with that, I headed towards my first class. I was a little giddy if I was being honest, I was a boy at heart, even if I was a killer. The idea of the sword was just kind of awesome to me. And, the sword I chose to wield was also really cool to me.

It was a greatsword, a big hunk of metal that was used to just obliterate your enemy instead of stabbing them.

Swords made for Awakened were really heavy, because of our increased strength. As such, a greatsword was heavy even to me. Eventually I'll be able to wield it how most people would wield a lighter sword.

And with that, I entered the designated classroom.
