Chapter 2: 2: Confrontation/Power.
I rushed down the halls as a fast as I could.
Haruka: "What the fuck..." I stop and look around for a second before turning left and running that way. I slide into the bathroom. "What the fuck am I gonna do... Fuck fuck fuck FUCK ok..."
I take a deep breath and notice that the ceiling is loosely put together here.
*Crash* People barge into the bathroom.
"Where is he?"
"You four search the bathroom. We will search the other rooms."
"Got it."
Haruka: This is probably a good time to run. One of the students forms more limbs on their arm, making it longer. The cracks of their bones pierces the silent room with its noise. He starts poking the ceiling. One of the squares rises. I immediately start crawling through the space, trying to get to an edge.
"He's up here! I'm gonna head up."
One of the students leaves to warn the others. I turn as the limb student grabs onto the tile and climbs up.
Limb Student: "You don't seem like much of a fighter huh? Well let me teach you a few things!" He adds more limbs to his arms to push himself into the wall behind, before springing off of that, grabbing me and breaking through the wall. The student then throws me into the wall of another building.
Haruka: "Agh-" I started coughing. The shock took all the breath out of me.
I had almost no time to even breathe as the student kept attacking. I rolled and dodged some attacks but a punch to the gut sent me flying again. I slammed through the window of a dorm. Injured and out of breath, I opened the door then went back and slid under the bed as fast as I can. The student climbed onto the window.
Limb Student: "Where the hell did he go... He must've ran. Man am I tired. That kid can really take a beating." He got out a water bottle from his bag and started drinking. He was pissed but had a small bit of respect.
My mouth was covered by my hands. The room was silent. My face was bleeding. I very slowly moved my arm so that the blood would drip on my sleeve and not the floor.
Limb Student: "Alright..." I stopped moving. He went to the window. "Hey Kaoru! He's going out through the entrance I think. We gotta corner him! Have Takeshi get the other corner!"
"Got it!"
Haruka: Do I have to use it? No. It's too early. I can't even guarantee my safety if I use that...
He formed 6 more eyes on the back and sides of his head. He also formed more ears. The Limb Student walked out of the room presumably to get into formation with the others. I haven't moved for several minutes. What if they came back? I'm not skilled enough with my hands.
Haruka: I might have to surprise them to win.
I rolled out from under the bed and grabbed the water bottle that the student left behind. Then, carrying the bottle in my mouth, I grabbed the roof ledge. I turned around to see if anyone was following me then flipped onto the roof, rolling a bit.
Haruka: "Alright let's see how this works!" I throw the water bottle off the ledge. The students hear this and rush over.
The limb student hears my breathing and looks at me. His gaze pierces me and I take a few steps back.
Limb Student: "Alright... let's try to end this." He grabs his two friends and jumps onto the roof with me. "Are you sure you don't wanna just jump off?"
Haruka: "We both know you wouldn't get the money if I did that."
Limb Student: "Eh... You've got a point. How about you make this easy on us." He'd take a bat out of his backpack, spinning it before getting a good grip on it. The bat was embedded with pencils. When he got the time to make this, I don't know. "It'll be much better for the both of us. You don't seem like you'd make a lot of money out of this school." He turned to his friends. "You know the plan." They nodded
His friends start rushing towards me. One turns their arms into cacti while the other readies his fists. The limb student is just walking.
My head would be full of noise.
"You are not ready to use that."
"You know what happened last time."
I dodged Kaoru's cactus attack but ended up moving right into a punch from Takeshi, who sent me back far.
"Don't make another incident."
"Don't cause problems for your family."
"Don't use your powers, Haruka"
Haruka: "I don't care anymore..." I put out my hand to the side and sigh. Parts of the ground, my clothes and my arm start to rip off. The parts start changing material one by one.
Takeshi: "What the hell is he doing?"
The parts take the shape and form what looks like a double ax, though it was a little warped.
Haruka: "There aren't many chances that I get to use this..."
I dashed forward and swung the ax at Kaoru. He started rapidly forming cactus', stopping the ax from slicing him but still getting knocked to the side.
Limb Student: "Kaoru! You alright?"
Kaoru: "Yeah..." He got up, sighing. "I'm fine Ryuji."
Takeshi dashes to me and starts attacking head on. He dodges a swing from my ax and knocks the ax out of my hands, sliding it away. He punches me in the face.
Takeshi: "I'm gonna get that money Haruka!" He knees my gut. The others run towards me too. I can't even find an opening!
The trio keep performing the nastiest combos of all time. Takeshi kicks me into Kaoru's cactus punch, slamming me on the ground. They both then kick me at the same time in the stomach and neck, sending me rolling almost falling off the side of the building.
I get up as Ryuji kicks me back down from far away with a mid-air ax kick extended using his limb power. I'd get up slowly once again, coughing and bleeding, eventually stumbling and ending up sitting down.
Haruka: "Alright-" I'd cough. "I better... start getting... serious..."
Ryuji: "Is that really all you got?" He started walking closer. "You can't be serious." He sits in front of me. "Isn't this the time where you get some sort of power boost? Maybe someone arrives to save you?" He then kicks me back down.
I'd look at Ryuji with a tired yet angry expression. I cough a little more before sitting back up.
Haruka: "What makes you think this fight is over?" I dive and grab his legs.
Ryuji: "What the fuck are you doing?" I start using my powers to form a shield. Most of the parts that are taken are from Ryuji's legs. "Get the fuck off of me" He starts kicking me away but eventually one of his legs disconnects from his foot. Ryuji crawls back as I let go.
Takeshi nervously runs to help Ryuji. His leg was bleeding badly.
Takeshi: "What did you just do?" Kaoru rushes forward to attack me.
Haruka: "What does it look like-" Kaoru punches me in the face. I dodge his next attack then punch him in the stomach, sending him back a little bit.
Takeshi: "R-Ryuji maybe it's not worth it-" Ryuji weakily hits Takeshi's chest. "Ryuji..."
Ryuji: "Why do you gotta be right..." Sighing, he forms more limbs, essentially reforming his foot. He stands up. "You may be right but I'm a bit stubborn. Just get the hell out of here."
Kaoru pauses and turns.
Kaoru: "What do you mean get out of here? Why are you trying to do this alone-"
Ryuji: "Shut up!" He screamed. "Just go. If what happened to me happens to you guys... you can't do what I can- you can't make replacement limbs. Just let me handle this."
Takeshi: "Alright..."
Kaoru gets off the building, landing in an open window with Takeshi shortly following.
Haruka: "You wanted to make it a one on one?" I'd crack my neck and laugh a little. "Very brave of you." I rip off part of my shirt and start wrapping it around my arm, which was bleeding.
Ryuji: "I'm just trying to keep my buddies safe. You'd do the same right Ha-runt-ka?"
Haruka: "I think that name needs a bit of work." I grab the shield that was formed and start walking toward Ryuji, forming a sword as I go.
Ryuji and I dash at each other. He extends his limbs and uses them to block my sword strike. I lunge my shield forward but he grabs it with his other hand.
Haruka: He's not gonna make this easy... I let go of the shield and sword and grab his neck, slamming him into the ground face-first. "Are you done-"
He got up fast by forming limbs and starts swinging punches at me. He punches me in the gut.
Haruka: "Fuck-" I use the momentum to bounce forward, spin and kick him in the side. "Bitch!" My kick knocks Ryuji off his feet and he rolls off the building. A thud can be heard. I look down at Ryuji. He was still moving but not much. Bleeding everywhere, broken bones, the whole thing. People were screaming as doctors arrived on the scene to take him to the infirmary.
I stumble a bit before sitting down. I fall on my back, bleeding, and breathing heavily.
Haruka: "I gotta... get to that infirmary." Unable to move, I just laid there.
Blood trickled down my arm, chest, and head. My breathing hastened as I couldn't move anymore. If I asked for help, would more people try to kill me? For a few minutes I stared at the sky, though it seemed like hours. Eventually, I go unconscious.
. . .
As I woke up, I heard a voice.
???: "Are you alright?"
I open my eyes. The first thing I see is a girl in a coat. Short black hair with a hint of purple. Her purple eyes had a calming feel to them.
Haruka: "Who-"
???: "My name is Sumiko."
Haruka: "Alright... Sumiko..." Realizing I'm on her lap, I'd get off of her. "Who are you really? What's your goal?" She laughed a little.
Sumiko: "I don't really have any goals. I am Sumiko. I am not like that guy who tried to kill you."
Haruka: "Then why are you here?" I'd then notice my chest, arms, and head were bandaged. She laughs again.
Sumiko: "Because I think I could help you." She fixed her posture. "You just have to relax and hear me out."
I stare at her for a few seconds before taking a few steps back.
Haruka: "It's really hard for me to trust anyone after that whole thing. I'm not even sure if the friend I met on the ride here will still be my friend. So..." I'd sigh. "Please tell me why I'm supposed to trust you."
Sumiko: "You'll just have to. There isn't anything I can do to prove myself." She walks closer to me until we are only a few feet apart. "Were the bandages not enough for you?"
I didn't bother responding. Sumiko then walked around me before looking at me from the side. She rummages through her bag before getting out a sticky note and a pencil.
Sumiko: "You look kinda cute. Here's my number. Give me a call if you ever need help or want to hang out." She winked then went down the building's roof entrance.
...
Haruka: "Did I just get hit on?" I stood there for a while, trying to comprehend the series of events that just occurred. "Heh... I bet she'd just try to kill me anyway."
I started walking to the roof entrance.
Haruka: "Though I guess I could give her a chance..."
