Chapter | 2.
Akiyama exhaled a sigh of relief once he noticed the status screen hovering in front of him given that he knew how important this item was in the anime. After gazing at the screen for a few seconds, Akiyama stretched out his hand to examine the features of it, that probably would make it easier for him to deal with his present predicament.
Before he could act, however, the door to the small side room in which Akiyama was sitting in opened, allowing the village chief and an elderly woman who appeared to be his wife to make their way in.
"Your hot water is ready, Hayashi-Sama; when you're finished, cleanse yourself up with this towel." As his wife set a bowl of warm water and some warm clothing in front of him, the chief said.
"I'm grateful; by the way, you don't have to address me in the honorific." Akiyama thanked the elderly couple and asked them to get rid of the unnecessary honorific, as he disapproved of receiving it without doing anything in return.
However, the elderly couple on the other side appeared startled by his abrupt request, saying, "But.. But Hayashi-sama is a young adventurer; how can we old folks do that?" And judging by the way they spoke and looked, being an adventurer was something enormous that called for respect.
Once Akiyama realised that they would not drop the honorific, he gave up the issue and began washing himself with the water after the couple left the room, and as the time went by, Akiyama's train of thoughts began to sort out on their own.
Akiyama made a mental list of every step he needed to perform in order to live comfortably in this world whilst washing himself with the warm water. And thankfully, he was nevertheless able to recollect some of the minute details from the anime, which was a major advantage for him.
After scrubbing off the filth of the battle, Akiyama got suited up in baggy clothes that were itchy and uncomfortable to wear, but since this was another world and not the one where he could simply order anything online, he got up, threw the dirty water from the bowl out the window, picked up his bloody tracksuit, and handed both of them to the village chief who was waiting outside the door because he had told Akiyama that his spouse would be happy to have them washed.
With all due respect or even if it was free labour, Akiyama felt obliged to express his gratitude because he had done nothing to get all of that from this old man; However, the old chief once again declined accepting his gratitude.
'Sigh, this old couple is too overwhelming for me.' With a helpless smile, akiyama walked back into the room and sat down on the wooden the board, feeling that making his bum ache was a small price to pay to avoid being chilled up.
Taking a deep breath, akiyama reopened the status window, knowing full well that the anime's main character had made some changes to it. But firstly Akiyama wanted to curse himself, because he had forbidden himself from playing any type of game since childhood, believing that he would be able to study better and make his deceased parents proud. But the truth, which told him he wouldn't be that good at studying even if he didn't let anything divert his attention, was quite harsh on him as now he was dead and found himself in an otherworld with an RPG setting but now he didn't know much about a certain thing that was going to be most crucial thing for him except what he remembered from the anime.
"All right Akiyama, if you put your whole mind to it, you can pick up anything," After giving himself a boost, Akiyama started to read the information in the status window. Even though Akiyama was a noob at this, he knew what the basics were, so ignoring the name and level, he clicked on the titles to understand how it were likely to be obtained. So a tab named [Class settings] opened and he began to speculate to gain wider prospective, like the first title [villager] was most likely acquired because the spawning point of his transportation to otherworld was this village, and the second title, he didn't care much about because he already knew the reason behind it. But it was the class [hero] that piqued his interest the most.
'Did this guy earn this title while saving the people of the village from those vile bandits?' akiyama pondered as he extended his hand to more carefully examine the title.
"huh! These can also be switched up?" As he unknowingly placed the class "hero" in the second class slot—where the class "thief" had been just a moment ago—Akiyama exclaimed.
'Should I make it the first class?' Akiyama considered it, but as he recalled how people in this world could see a person's class and many other characteristics on an item called a card or something, he quickly abandoned the idea because the title "hero" seemed too flashy to even a carry out noob like him. So this time he simply clicked on the class seeing a shining [effect] box was next to it in a small area.

"Overwhelming? Is this the same skill that our delivery company's heavy supervisor always executed on us?" As his ex-delivery manager had an overwhelming and wide presence, akiyama joked. But then he clicked the expand button, and a whole list of effects surfaced in front of him, and to his surprise, with the exception of one or two things, all of the effects this class has on was physical stats like endurance and dexterity.
"It seems like this class thing is of greater importance than just being a show-off material," akiyama felt, as the class was giving him far more physical boost than he could have hoped for.
Note: The starting chapter will be devoted to MC attempting to become acquainted with his surroundings and the system.
