Chapter 2: CHAPTER TWO
I opened my eyes slowly. I saw people starring at me but their faces were not clear enough. I heard different voices, I tried to recognize these voices bit nothing was coming to my head. I was wondering where I was.
"Oh my God was I also abducted by those cruel men". this was what came to my mind as I struggled to stand up and escape from this hell but I couldn't move, I tried to stand up but felt pain in the lower part of my body. I cried and shouted for help.
Then I heard a voice, I could recognize that voice it sounded like that of aunt vera. Aunt vera is dad's only sister.
"You are awake".she said with excitement in her voice. "I thought you did never wake up" she cried. She touched my face and asked me not to move until she gets the doctor.
I laid still on the hospital and did not move until she came in with the doctor. The doctor began to check my body and temperature at that Moment, he said I needed to rest more and he left assuring aunt vera that I will be fine.
"Leave alone.... Don't come close to me..... John.... No no no no oooo" these were my words as I screamed. Someone was holding and asking me to calm down but I kept screaming and sweating profusely.
"It's me aunt vera" she said as she held me close to her chest. "It's okay you will be fine" she said trying to calm me down.
I was panting slowly, I held her very close to my chest, the grip was so tight that I thought aunt vera would soon stop breathing. It was another nightmare. I was crying, I just wished all these were nightmares and that I would go back to the normal life I was living before the horrible incident occured. This was just too much for a sixteen year old girl.
"Don't worry I'm here for you okay" aunt vera assured me as she pecked my forehead. She has always been sweet before now.
After some days the aunt vera came in and announced to me that i have been discharged by the doctor and we were going home today.
"Home?" I asked. "I have no home to go to they have taken them away from me". I answered with sad and disbelief look on my face.
"Alex! you are going to leave with me in my house, your father's house has been sealed by the police because of the ongoing investigation and the police have promised to fish out the culprits and make them face the law". She said as she held my hands looking into my face. "Everything is going to be fine". She assured me again.
"Come, stand up, let's prepare, the driver is waiting for us outside."
I stood up from the bed, though I still felt a slight pain on my waist but I could still manage to walk. Aunt vera said I have to be exercing my waist and legs so that the pain will heal. Aunt vera helped me with my luggages. We badded the doctors and nurses goodbye before driving off to aunt Vera's place.
We got to aunt Vera's place, the house was small but we'll furnished and decorated with flowers and light. I always knew aunt vera had good sense of fashion and taste. The luxury cushions in her living room gave it a classic look and ofcourse aunt vera is clean person. She doesn't like her things not organized. She took me to my own room, it had a bed, the mattress was well laid with a pink and white bed spread and duvet. It also had wardrobe where I can drop my clothes and shoes. The room was quite beautiful and it suited my taste. Aunt vera helped me arrange my stuffs and cleaning up. After so many hours of cleaning and arranging of our stuffs, Aunt vera decided to make dinner for us.
She went downstairs to make lunch. I was looking through the window, admiring the beauty of the environment. The sight here was really beautiful. The houses well built, no building was bigger than each other, they were all the same size with the beautiful gardens surrounding it that made it look like "Little Eden" it was really a beautiful sight to behold. I got bored with starring at the buildings and decided to go downstairs and help aunt vera out with dinner.
I walked into the kitchen and met her doing the dishes, she didn't notice that I was in the kitchen till I offered to help her out with the eggs. She was making toasted bread with scrambled egg. She apologized and explained to me that we had to eat toasted bread and scrambled egg for lunch because she has not restocked her kitchen because she has been busy with work and taking care of me the hospital.
"It's okay Anty, you don't have to worry, I totally understand. It's not easy, it must really be hard for you to work and visit the hospital at the same time despite the fact that you lost your brother." As soon as I said that tear gathered my eyes again, I remembered the beautiful moments I shared with my brother and parents.
Aunt vera noticed I was sobbing and came to hug me. "It's okay hun, atleast you have your aunt here with you. I promise to protect and take care of you as your elder sister and we will find your brother too okay." She said as she consoled me.
"Thank you aunt. I really appreciate your kindness towards me this few days, I owe you one." I replied in between sobs.
"Nah, you don't have to thank me after all you are my brothers daughter so while won't I take care of my niece. Seeing you cry breaks my heart and you have to promise that you won't cry again so you won't fall sick or worsen the situation. The doctor said you need to rest and that includes you have to stop thinking and crying till you are well again. Am I understood?" She said with a smile on her face.
I knew those smiles were not geniue, between those smile were hidden pain and I totally understand she was trying to be strong and also cheer me up a little but truth must be told, it wasn't really working cause I was still sad.
"Alex!" She called my name. "Am I understood?" She asked again.
"Yes aunt, I will try not cry again" I replied with a nod.
"Come here my baby" she said as she pulled me into her arms.
Soon lunch was ready and we went to dinning table to eat. There was silence between us cause my aunt and believed in "No talking during a meal". Soon we were done and I retired to my room and laid on my bed while aunt vera was busy with the the dishes.
I laid down on the bed, starring at the ceiling wondering where does monsters took my brother to and what they have done to him. I prayed that don't hurt him and that I will find him one day cause I really miss him. Though Aunt vera said that the police assured her that they will find him and the culprits behind the death of my parents, I was still not satisfied because I didn't trust those officers. I have never trusted them after what they did to my friends mother, whose uncle was abusing her mother and when she reported to the police, the police did nothing and blamed the poor woman for her predicament because of the little money given to them by her uncle.
I just hoped and prayed that they will be brought before the law to face the consequences of thier actions and with that I drifted to sleep.
