Chapter 10: Minor Consequense

Velios couldn't even sleep for more than ten minutes. His mind was still thinking too much for a person who needed to rest. He couldn't move his arms, his legs, not his fingers or his head. He could only look up at the moonlit sky or at the black and dark forest.

Velios couldn't seem to relax for even a moment. His senses were working overtime to figure out if he was alone, if he was safe or not. He simply didn't know and that managed to atleast make his eyes open up. His current situation reminded him of the night he got attacked. Where he was really close to being killed and he was even more helpless if he suddenly got attacked now.

He suddenly thought about a book he once read. It was an entire book about a rare disorder of the nervous system. It was called "Locked-in syndrome" where a person with it couldn't move a single muscle except for the eye muscles. It was described as being trapped inside your own body, fully conscious with the ability to think and reason but unable to move his or her mouth. He started giggling at the similarities between his situation and the disorder. At Least he knew he was safe since his healing would make him recover sooner or later.

So he just kept on laying there, as he always does, different worlds, same person. Nothing has truly changed in his heart since he started the game. This game only seems to have levels and skills, but still no magic. It would also be completely reasonable if they were to leave something like that out so that you as a player are fully immersed in your battles. Ugh, I wouldn't say that I can't live without it, but it sure would be nice to have and experiment with. I even forgot to buy a weapon in the city while I was still there. Now all I have is just my own body, not sharp enough to slice through something and not small enough to pierce through something. It seems like killing animals will still be a problem when I have nothing to work with. I can always punch it but that isn't even efficient even if it would die after one hit. The meat would become munched up and damaged. Wait, didn't I create the actual sharp part for a spear not long ago? Maybe I'm just too sleepy. Why would I spend hours creating a weapon when I could just train, must have been a dream. As usual, he kept on thinking for hours without being able to move. About what he could do and what he was going to do. But he knew that he had some unfinished business which he had to complete first before getting carried away.

He got up as soon as he could. He was barely able to stand but he immediately got back into training, or at least his punishment for failing yet again. The tree felt harder than usual, it was as if his disappointment was weighing him down with every hit. He felt slower and weaker than he has in a very long time. He started grinding his teeth in frustration because he allowed himself to push way past his limit and still fail which meant hours wasted. I don't want to do this anymore! Why am I so weak?! He kept on thinking to himself as he painfully repeatedly hit the tree. At this point Velios was extremely burnt out and all of his energy seemed to be gone. He then noticed that nothing was happening, his arms shortly after fell down to his waist and every hit he landed was both very weak and very slow. He tried to lift them again and again, but he couldn't even do it. They barely moved. His legs had now started to shake and the next thing he knew, they had stopped being able to support his bodyweight at all and quickly crumbled under the weight of his body. He could no longer move. He was still sitting crumbled up together like a ball and couldn't even move to a position laying down. The single smallest weakest touch could drop him to the ground and he was breathing extremely heavily and fast. He tried to calm down but he was still gasping for air.

It was only a matter of time before his senses would completely shut off and it firstly started with his vision. It got extremely blurry and he couldn't make out a single detail, let alone anything around him. His ears started to ring with an extremely high pitched sound and it basically sounded like he was underwater. "What is happening to my body-" He couldn't even finish his sentence before his body suddenly collapsed to the ground. You could clearly hear the contact he made with the ground and the dust from the ground slightly rose up in the air. His skin started turning more pale, his mouth was only slightly open and his lips looked extremely dry. A small bit of saliva was dripping down the side of his face from the mouth and he could only stare up to the sky. Not that it mattered because he couldn't see anything either way.

"Oi, I think there is a person over there! Look." Someone shouted from afar. The rest of the group all looked there and were shocked by what they saw. "Is he, dead?" One of them asked scared of what could have happened there. As far as they were concerned, they had found a beat up young man in the middle of an open circle in the forest with a bunch of fallen trees, uneven terrain and holes everywhere. "What are you guys waiting for? We have to help him, come!" What seemed to be the leader of the group ran towards the fully unconscious Velios to check what had happened and if he still was alive. The group had assembled in a circle around the unconscious boy to try and ask for what happened, but they got no response other than his still beating pulse. "Let's take him back to the city." One of the group said. "Agreed." The other one responded with. They were still shocked and left without words to describe it. They hadn't seen any monster or being for that matter that had even closely similar compared to the destruction of Velios' training place. "For a monster attack like that, he sure got lucky to have escaped without any serious injuries."
