Chapter 16: New City, Here I Come

They had departed back to the city in an attempt to find out about what could have happened and to confirm that the man they found was okay. But the way back was more than a pain in the ass for them. They tried switching people, but everyone who tried to carry Velios was met with him screaming but no one had any idea of why but when they tried to make him stop or wake up, the screaming became both louder and more terrible. They were all still incredibly confused and dumbfounded about what could have happened. News would probably spread surprisingly fast considering that there are no established news companies or even a way of communication with the other cities. It might also be a feature of the game, because no one really knows where or who they come from, but similar incidents have started happening more often as of lately, but none as serious as what they had witnessed. "Hey, boss. Do you think the person behind that incident is part of that Yotsuya case too?" The leader, who held Velios over one of his shoulders, turned his head around to answer. "Really, you think that it even is a probability? I don't know if you guys saw, but one of the dead humans not only was extremely beat up when the others were in pieces, but it was definitely something off about it, I'm sure. If any of the "news" pops up in town when we come back, we might just get an answer. For now, let's just do our part and escort this kiddo back into safety in the city, okay?" They all seemed to listen extremely carefully as to what he said. Idolizing his quick thinking and decision making, they looked up to him as their leader.

"Guys, we're getting close. We can already see where that scumbag Yotsuya is." The screaming Velios seemed to change his emotions pretty frequently from screaming, being dead silent, twitching, laughing and many more in between. As they approached the city, they saw the human who they were talking about, in the distance to the right of the natural road leading into the city. A human on the verge of death due to starvation and poisoning, was tied up to a cross at ground level having his legs stretched out in front of him and his waist and arms completely tied up, he was barely hanging onto his life as he couldn't even fully lift his head to see who were walking in front of him. "Look at that criminal, totally deserves it. The way he killed all the people in his party, one of the biggest taboos in this world." One of the members in the group said before spitting on the ground a couple of meters in front of him. The criminal did not respond.

Velios had just arrived at the scene of the incident again, looking around at the scene which had already played itself out, but different. This time he was holding each and everyone of them by the back, hugging Lia. After she fell, he looked down onto his hand to find a bunch of blood. Images were flashing in his head of what they all were doing that same day, eating and enjoying themselves before just a couple of hours later, they were slaughtered. "Aww, look at you being all remorseful." Velios could immediately pick up on who it was. "It was you who killed them, Velios. All your fault, you could have prevented it all if you cared just a little bit more. But I guess that's what being a human is about. Being a human is the same as being a total failure, lowest of the low, deserving of nothing, pieces of complete garbage and last but not least. Food for the likes of me." Maniacally laughing without stopping. Laughing so hard that a few tears started running down his eyes in pity. It couldn't stop itself from laughing as it held itself in the chest, leaning up, looking up towards the sky. As Velios seemed to slowly become more quiet by the second, the screams continued as he seemed to be stuck in a loop of his memories.

"Seriously, what has this guy been through? Seems like it actually is more to this than meets the eye." The state of Velios continued to fluctuate as it now normally did, back and forth. As the criminal finally managed to lift his head up, his eyes were locked onto the knocked out Velios. He didn't know what the feeling was, but it was almost like he knew what had happened. Before the group had fully entered the city, they heard the criminal speak up from behind them. "That guy, looks miserable. Get him, to a doctor immediately. Treat, his wounds. Look at, his chest." The group, including the leader, turned their heads towards the weak criminal, stepping closer to him. As they stood there, they all looked at the criminal which head now seemed to be barely hanging on. "Boss, what should we do with this guy? He's already been poisoned and he has gone without food and water for over a week now. He should be dead already." As those words were said, the leader stepped forwards to the criminal before kicking him right across the face. A small amount of blood were seen flying through the air as the kick had landed. "Don't tell me what to do, you scum. Don't try to act like you can help us in any way so we can start sympathizing with you. You killed the rest of your party, seven people got killed by you, you killed them!" The leader had finally let the built up anger out onto the criminal. As it stood, nothing was unchanged since the criminal was sentenced to death either way.

But while he kicked the criminal, he had also accidentally dropped Velios right beside him, but after landing onto his back. They saw an injury that they somehow had overlooked, the massive injury was even more visible on the back. What they saw was a giant hole through his shirt and through that hole, they saw a massive scar in the shape of a rough circle. It did not take that long for him to realize how serious the situation had become. "Hey. You guys saw a similar wound on his chest, right?" He said that while picking Velios up while turning his body from the front and to the back. "Guys, get him to the nearest infirmary at this instance, now! I'll have a talk with mister Yotsuya here."

The other guys quickly rushed to Velios before lifting him up and carrying him into the city. Small amounts of blood seemed to be falling from him, leaving a trail behind him. "Hey! Get it together, if we're not fast enough, the wound might open and look at all the blood he probably lost before we were there, if he loses any more. He could die." They were all carrying Velios on their shoulders as they ran into the city. Now being completely out of sight, the only ones left in the conversation were the leader and the criminal named Yotsuya. "Please, tell me. How did you know of the wound? Was it an affiliate of yours who caused the incident? Why did you bother to tell us about it? Tell me!" The criminal's head slightly raised itself just a little, looking down onto the man's feet who stood before him before slightly opening his mouth. "I didn't know. I could, sense something. He and I. We are the same."
