Chapter 20: Challenge Completed

It had only been a few hours since Velios had left, but he had wasted absolutely no time. The surroundings were completely quiet and it was like the rest of the world had stopped for him. He was so much focused so that he actually didn't think about what number repetition he was on, but instead just said out the number automatically. Velios was pushing through the repetitions, his form barely faulting. He couldn't think of anything else, the focus he put into something as simple as bodyweight training was absurd. Velios made it a point to train in any way at all times. During the whole time since a certain point, Velios had started training his senses by keeping them active at all times, even for short periods while unconscious. Even in his old life, he would wear weights under his clothes or train cognitive functions, for example difficult multitasking. Because people only look at training in a one-sided way, new discoveries and large improvements are not often made, even in this game where there are an infinite amount of stuff that you can do and achieve, people still lack creativity. The individuals who have experience in gaming are some of the best and worst creative people. Many of them are to dependant on the game and what it offers. The different kinds of armor, weapons, resources and skills. Most people haven't even thought of the possibility of training their body or skill in any other way than doing fighting commissions. Velios, who isn't the slightest accustomed to games has barely looked into any of the different equipment or skills. Velios is the straight opposite of most players.

As time had passed, Velios dwelled closer and closer to the end goal. He was dripping sweat and the concentration had not been disturbed since he had started. His muscles had started to hurt much earlier but it was so normal for Velios that he barely felt it. "9,998! 9,999! 10,000! 10,001! 10,002! 10,003! 10,004..." Velios had not yet realised it, but he had already reached the ten thousand mark. This continued for over 20 minutes without Velios noticing anything until he suddenly heard what he said. He reacted like he had just woken up. He slowed down the handstand pushups until he had stopped completely. Wait, 11,158? What am I doing, did I count wrong? No, I'm sure that I couldn't have counted wrong. Did I really just do over a thousand extra handstand pushups, and I'm not even tired yet. Velios slowly lowered his body and ended up sitting there, on the dirty ground. "Am I, smiling?" Velios experienced one of the feelings that he had recently unlocked thanks to the game, happiness. Velios was genuinely happy because of all the progress and improvement. To him, training and fighting as hard as he does is normal but for everybody else, for normal people, it's hard to even fight because if they mess up once, they die. Most people have been far to comfortable with their life to immediately switch to the life style you need to survive. This means that no matter the gear, equipment or even stats, proper fighting experience is the best thing that you can have.

Velios emotions had changed drastically from happy to shocked as he had a virtual window display all his stats just infront of him. He had abolutely no idea of how high they actually were because he didn't have anything to scale it off except himself. He only remembers briefly checking them before the training started, way before the battle with that monster. He mostly looked at the common stats, which are the broader and more commonly used but his strength, agility, endurande, durabilty and much more had increased ten fold. Velios looked through many more stats but what he wanted to try and learn were the skills and their functions. Thanks to Yotsuya, Velios had also learned alot about what skills are and how similar they are to magic. Velios barely grasped it and basically only heard what he wanted to hear. "It's one of the easiest ways to grow stronger because of how vast the amount of skills are-" The rest of their conversation was also about information of how games usually were, but Velios had a bad habit of getting easily distracted and it didn't help that he had barely any experince in communicating. One of the reasons why Velios has a big disadvantage is because he doesn't have the most common of knowledge when it comes to games like these, let alone games at all. Velios looked at every skill carefully, scrolling down the list trying to find actually useful ones.

Yotsuya was right, most of these are trash. It seems like the game was "kind" enough to give the inexperienced players different attacks through skills. Most of them only help with getting a knack of the fighting and are very bad in higher level fights. They are also really predictable and highly counterable. I don't have that many skills either, but the other ones I have are pretty useful, especially the healing skills. The intense healing really saved me back there and it seems to have branched out into another one. But the one skill I'm really curious about is the one that I got after the fight with that monster. It looks special and it even feels different than the rest of them. The exclusive skill, Utamatā, "Exclusive skill unlocked after meeting special requirements, the skill is used as a means to scare and intimidate weaker souls. The skills effect is greatly increased by higher total stats, mana and higher levels of the *six senses* stat and skill branch. This skills main purpose is to show off higher levels of superiority therefore having greater control over said soul'." Quite the description for a single skill. Guess it was pretty effective thanks to my higher levels senses, don't really know if it is one specifically or if it is multiple or all of them that affect it, but I guess I will learn eventually.

Velios was standing looking directly up at the sky. Reminiscing about all that's happened. The burden he had to survive was not weighing down that much and the murder of the first people he had met was still in his mind. Velios knew deep within that thinking excessively about it would only lead to nothing. In fact, he was just happy that he got revenge and thanks to them he had realised that in this game, what mattered wasn't how weird you were or how handsome you were. What mattered was how reliable a person was, not only how powerful someone was, but to have people that are reliable. No matter how much you talked about it, you wouldn't be able to come up with an answer on human feelings and emotions, but from what Velios had seen, he wasn't wrong. Velios had come u with a decision on what he would do. He had all the time in the world and he was feeling better than ever. He was going to spend a week non-stop training, no sleeping or eating was going to be allowed. Velios was just to eager to test out his new abilities, level them up and become even stronger. There was no stress in meeting Yotsuya as he had gave Yotsuya the responsibility if taking care of himself. Now, instead of setting a challenge like he did, he's just going to improve as much as he can in as short of an amount of time as possible and he is going to train like that for a week. Velios face had a big smile on it and his eyes were fully opened. The only feeling that he ever felt before training was excitement. Velios was extremely excited to see what he could accomplish and what heights and possibilities he would be able to reach once he was done.
