Calista's firm disagreement was etched on her face. She was grateful for the duke to come and save her, but he was asking too much.

First, he asked her to get married. She knew picking a fiance randomly at a party was not a good idea, so she didn't want to make the same mistake by marrying on the spot… Just because her groom felt like it.

Second, he wouldn't leave her alone. She understood he was the owner of the mansion, but she was hoping to be alone for some time, at least.

"Why not? Is it that bad to join me for a walk?" Damian brushed his hair up. He was quite confident, despite the scar on his face. "You do not want people to see us together, is that it?"

Leaning his side on the wall, Damian looked at Calista with his charming gray eyes. "I see you're embarrassed. It's the face that matters to you," he mumbled, with sadness in his voice.
