"And when do you suggest we talk about it, then?" Damon's tone chilled as he mentioned Jones. "I'm just worried your judgment is clouded, and you'll agree to Jones's unreasonable demands. I know him too well, understand?"

I wasn't losing my mind, just feeling irritable.

Damon's phone buzzed, a work-related call. After a brief conversation, he hung up and informed me, "I've got to head back to the office. I'll probably be staying in the city for a while, sorting things out before

heading to abroad. My mom's heading there earlier though, you can go with her if you want. She can help look after your kids."

"Okay, you go ahead and get your work done," I replied.
