Chapter 9: Puck Puck Puckaaaack!!!
"Come in." An elderly voice spoke.
I entered in.
"I heard you called for me, Hokage-sama?"
The old man puffed on his pipe and said, "Yes. I heard from Iruka you want to graduate. Well, as I've already said to Sasuke, you aren't allowed. Your skills might be better than the Academy students, but you still have a lot to learn and much to bond. If we were at war right now, I would have allowed it, but in times of peace we should be forming bonds with comrades and enjoying the peace while also protecting Konoha."
I sighed as I put my hands behind my head, "I've already made friends with the whole class, I've also read a lot of history and geographical books about the world and my knowledge is better than most genin. All that is left is for me to experience it."
Puff!
"My decision will stand, Enyo-kun."
This guy is irritating me to no end.
"How about a bet?" I smirked.
"A bet?" The old Hokage raised his eyebrow.
I nodded, "If I'm able to beat a genin by the end of this academy year, you'll let me graduate."
He chuckled, "You want to be a genin, yet you want to beat a genin to do it. Don't you think it's underwhelming?"
I smirked, "You can choose any genin you want. I'll even spar against a chunin if you want me to."
The Hokage got quiet at my proposal and seemed to be thinking.
"Alright, but if you fail, you won't be able to request another early graduation until you graduate with others when you're twelve."
"Sure." I smiled confidently and then made my way out of the Hokage Tower.
Grrr!
My stomach was rumbling due to not eating, so I decided to have lunch. So I went to Ichiraku. I'm considered a regular customer there since I eat there at least once a day. Unlike Naruto, it's not my favorite food, but it deserves a place on my day menu.
"Welcome Enyo! What are you having today?" Teuchi welcomed me with passion.
"I'll have Seafood ramen. Also, put some pork there." I said.
"Hahahaha, your orders are always interesting, different every time and challenging. Consider it done." Teuchi made his way to his little kitchen and began cooking.
Since the place was small and no walls separated the place, I could see the whole process. And I've got to say, Teuchi is a master of his own craft.
I checked his status screen and then sighed in relief. He is not the six paths forgotten Otsutsuki… Thank God.
"Old man, I'll have miso ramen." I looked to my right and saw Naruto, who had just come in and had a frustrated look on his face.
"Oh Naruto, you came. One miso ramen coming up." Teuchi said.
"Why are you so angry Naruto?" I asked him, curious.
"Hm?" Naruto turned his head towards me and then pointed his finger toward me.
"Hey you're my classmate, aren't you? What are you doing here?"
My eyes twitched at his comment, "Yes, I can't believe you forgot me. I come here every now and then."
"Is that so?" Naruto scratched his head.
"So are you going to tell me what's bothering you?" I asked once again.
Naruto was still confused.
I shrugged, "Don't tell me if you don't want to."
His hands swayed as he shook his head, "No, I-It's just that nobody asked me something like that before."
I sighed, "So are you mad because nobody treats you good?"
His eyes widened and looked at me astonished, "Exactly! I mean even my teachers treat me like an evil person. The only person who has treated me right is Jiji and Teuchi-san."
I scoffed, "I'm pretty sure I haven't said a bad thing to you once and always treated you nicely."
He tilted his head and then had a thoughtful look on his face.
"Now that I remember, you did treat me good, you even gave me a pencil." He hit his palm with his fist as he remembered. "You're Enyo right? The kid who doesn't stay in groups."
I arced a brow, "What do you mean I don't stay in groups."
"Well, others say that you don't talk much when there's a lot of people, but you're still friends with most of the class." Naruto said.
Well, now that I think about it, he is right. I did it like that because I wanted to form relationships with the ninja clan kids. Other than them, I've only had contact with Ari. But other than those intentions, what Naruto said is just a coincidence.
"I guess I do that." I said.
"Ramen is ready. Here you go." Teuchi handed us the bowls full of delicious ramen.
"Itadakimas!"
We both dove right into it and ate, well… mostly sipping. After we finished eating, I stood up and then said to Naruto, who ordered even more food, "I'm going now since I have training to do. See ya tomorrow in class."
I waved my hand and went to the Uchiha training ground.
I began doing my warm-up routine with push-ups and laps around the ground.
After being done with warm-up, I entered the main phase of my training today, or more exactly… My experimentation.
I looked at the chickens locked in little cages and a grin escaped my stoic face.
I had ordered them a week ago, and they only arrived a few hours ago. Since I was too lazy to put them back inside my house, I just left them here.
I opened the cages and let the five chickens run wild.
Since they were too stupid to realize they were going to meet their end, they just wandered casually around the cage.
I caught one of them in my hand and stabbed it with a kunai.
The chicken died immediately and I activated my ability.
'Devour'
Purple energy made its way out of the chicken and went through my palm.
The energy gave me an elevated ecstasy that I didn't feel when I devoured bugs.
