Chapter 41: Helping Sector Z (1)

"So you want me to get your brother and his girlfriend out of that bunker... It's an unfair deal but since I already accepted it, I guess I will just do it.", Larcen said as he took a piece of meat from the grill and put it on his plate.

"Thank you. He is my only family left."

"Got it... let's do it tomorrow I guess. I will go in saying that I need shelter and pay him the fee he needs. I'll see how things are going on inside and then see what I can do."

The group ate in peace, drinking beer when thirsty instead of water while Larcen decided to not touch alcohol after last night's incident.

While they were eating, Betty walked over to them and sat beside Larcen.

"Hey Bull, give me some food too.", she demanded as she picked up a plate.

"Get it yourself. I only serve food to my teammates, girl.", he said and ignored her while dipping his meat in the spicy garlic sauce and dropping it in his mouth.

Betty clicked her tongue and placed a few pieces of meat along with some rice on her plate before looking at Larcen.

"I talked to my father and he agreed. We will work for you and follow all of your commands as long as it isn't something extreme."

"Got it. You still have to buy the ammo from Anna. I know that there are bullets listed in the shop but since they cost the same, I want you to buy from Anna until her stock goes to zero. As for the bunker, I will start the operation tomorrow after the grind during the day.

I will go in, check stuff, and then make my decision to either kill him or not. Meanwhile, I want you and your father to join my team and help me with luring the monsters. I will give your dad a motorbike and I won't ask for SP but instead, I will give you guys only half of what you guys can bring me."

"Okay, no worries.", said Betty as she began eating.

The night wasn't as wild as last night and everyone headed to bed early including Larcen. It took him a few minutes to fall asleep but a the end he did. The next morning when he woke up, he did his daily routine of checking his system and the first thing he noticed was the increase in SP that had gone from nine hundred to four thousand.

'Ah... most people either don't have the money to buy the pack or they already have better weapons.'

He then moved to the shop and what he saw gave him a decent understanding of the situation and why the sales weren't as good as he expected.

It was the first listing in the terminal and it was also the most costly item there.

{

Item Name: Message stone

Description: Please read this message. This is a request from the people of sector Z. There are too many monsters here and there is a tower at every 20 kilometers. During the day, we fear for our lives and hide underground or in abandoned flats while at night, we still cannot go out.

There are too many of them here and even with the debuff, it is hard to face those numbers. Most of us do not have the SP required to buy most of the items in the terminal or the shop so please, can you give us a loan? Please?

Cost: 100000 SP

Seller Name: Jimmy

Larcen's expression grew grim as he checked for options where he could only give offers to specific people and he did find one option that helped him a little at that.

'A credit option huh... if they die, I get no money but if they live on and get strong, I get potential long-term customers. It's a risk worth taking but I will need some information to make sure that I can give out a decent offer for them. There is another option too, huh.'

He opened the shop again after reading the contents and clicked on the chat box icon beside Jimmy's listing and texted him after editing his own name.

GunmanLarcen: Hey, I read your message and I need some information to be able to provide help. Can you tell me the situation in detail? Also tell me how you guys are staying alive and if possible, the estimated living population and the population that can fight.

Larcen did not have to wait as he got a reply in just a minute of waiting.

Jimmy: We have large homeless shelters here and these are helping us survive. As long as we stay silent, we won't get attacked. We are running out of food too and we do not have the means to fight. Some of us do have the weapons but kitchen and pocket knives aren't too helpful in fighting off a hoard of those small things.

The place where I currently am has some food but I have no idea about the others. As for the population, I am not sure but my guess would be around 160 million but that is only when I consider the capacity of one shelter as 800. We have a little more than 20,000 shelters in sector Z but I do not know how many more are still standing after the shower of these towers.

GunmanLarcen: I will see what I can do for you but you will have to wait until night.

Larcen closed the window and scanned his chest rig after standing up. He then put the blanket over Anna properly before walking out of the room, his brain on full throttle as an energy bar appeared in his hand.

He tore off the wrapper and took a big bite as he walked to the alcohol stall that was actually locked but he had the key so it wasn't much of an issue for him. He took a cotton towel with him and entered the stall before throwing different kinds of glass bottles onto the wall.

Only after he tried all of them, did he pick up one of the beer bottles.

'This one is weak enough to make a decent Molotov.'
