Chapter 16: Chapter 16 : A cure.
Jacob returned to his father alone for a few days while Danielle waited for him at the camper in the forest.
He explained to his father that he was going to live elsewhere although close to home, he told him of his desire to leave initially but had decided to stay to live with Danielle but as she was no longer human, she was not welcome on the reserve.
Obviously he didn't tell his father or his sisters everything.
Jacob and Sam had met to talk and forget their previous tensions because they were brothers above all.
As the days passed, aside from patrols, the pack held training sessions with Jacob almost all the time, but the ones who benefited the most were Seth and Leah.
Jacob and Danielle really liked the camper van but their activities inside were no longer compatible with it so Jacob had a magnificent Chalet built near the Lake.
He had hired the services of builders for this and this time he didn't even need to use hypnosis because he had won a lot of money in Las Vegas.
They lived there as a couple and they were happy, Danielle had even found a job in town to fill her days and Jacob trained the pack.
Obviously, just as he did with Bella in front of her father, Jacob had put his partner under hypnosis so that she could resist the thirst for human blood because she was still a newborn and Jacob didn't want to take any risk.
The weeks passed and if everything at Jacob seemed to be going well, at the Cullen, little Renesmee who now looked like an 8 year old child worried everyone.
In the presence of her parents she seemed to smile but Edward quickly felt the big emptiness that the child felt deep inside her.
Just like Bella there was a time, she even had nightmares at night and only calmed down when the wolf sculpture that Jacob had made was within her reach because it had his scent on it.
Several times they tried to contact him but he never answered and since Bella was a vampire, she was far from welcome on the reserve.
One day while Jacob was staying with Danielle, they had a visit from Seth but the young wolf was not alone.
With Seth, Bella came in a car with Edward and Renesmee who at the sight of Jacob began to move happily.
Bella was the first to come down and Jacob looked at Seth reproachfully, promising that he was going to toughen up the training of the young man who had already gained a little muscles.
Bella: Hi Jacob.
"Bella" He replied without much emotion.
Bella: Jake, last time...I didn't control myself and I said terrible things to you. I haven't been grateful for everything you've done...
Jacob: Bella, this isn't the first time and that's why I want to stay away from all this. Is that too much to ask?
Bella: Jake please, Renesmee needs you. She's exactly like me when Edward left, my daughter isn't happy and if I hadn't done that scene things might be different. She smiles when she's with Charlie and us but you can feel it sometimes it's like being with a porcelain doll.
Jacob: I don't really see what my problem is, Bella. I am happy and we live without worries and without any drama.
"He doesn't love me, dad?" Renesmee asked her father sadly in the car and Edward explained to her that it was complicated but it had nothing to do with her.
Bella: I don't believe you Jacob, it was never your turn to turn your back on us when we needed your help. You can hate me if you want and I know that deep down you blame me for what happened to Danielle and I feel guilty for that, you can believe me. Jake, Renesmee is not me, she hasn't done anything wrong to you unlike me and she needs to be close to you.
"She's right my wolf, it's not in your nature. You should see the little one, you know better than me what her mother went through in the same situation and she is only a child." Danielle said while caressing Jacob's face.
Jacob nodded at Edward who got out of the car with Renesmee holding his hand.
Edward: Hello Jacob.
Jacob: Your little family hasn't finished needing me yet, it seems. (Looks at Renesmee) Come take a closer look at me?
Edward let go of his daughter's hand and she happily ran towards Jacob who took her in his arms.
Jacob: Phew! You have grown up, the last time I saw you you were just an infant.
Renesmee: I missed you a lot Jacob.
Jacob: Did you miss me? Do you have any memories of me?
With her little hand she touched Jacob's cheek and he saw all his memories in her mother's womb until she came out and the first face she saw was Jacob's because he was the one who brought out.
He also saw all the sadness of the child who did not stop looking for him, she didn't even want to stay at her parents' cottage but wanted to stay at Carlisle's where there were several places impregnated with his smell and especially the motorbike.
Jacob: (Looks at Bella) She really suffered...
Bella: It's all my fault and I'm so sorry for it.
"I'm really sorry for leaving like that little princess, I didn't want you to suffer and we'll make it right." He told Renesmee before inviting her parents inside the cabin where they chatted and he checked in on the others while Renesmee was playing with Seth in his wolf forme.
He was her best friend since Sue his mother had gotten into a relationship with Charlie and he also saw the child grow up each time he delivered the animal blood to the Cullens.
For days, Jacob saw Renesmee regularly and would organize outings with her parents to create beautiful memories for her.
When one morning he woke up he found Danielle sleeping next to him, he thought it was a simulation of his gf but after checking she was really sleeping and it shocked him because vampires normally never sleep .
"Danielle...Danielle, wake up..." He stirred it a little and the girl woke up but when she opened her eyes, Jacob remained silent before tears invaded his eyes for a simple reason, Danielle's eyes were blue again.
"Jacob? What's the matter ? My love why did you wake me up like-(stops)" She stopped talking when she realized the situation herself.
Danielle: Jacob…I…
He got out of bed and came rushing back with a mirror and Danielle saw her reflection, she had become a little less pale and her eyes were blue like before.
« JACOB!!! » She said as her voice shook and tears came out of her eyes.
Jacob: Tell me...Tell me how do you feel.
Danielle: I feel the same but different at the same time. I only feel thirst slightly and...I'm hungry!! Jacob I'm hungry??!!!!!
He immediately went to get a salad he had made for himself the day before and watched as Danielle began to eat the dish as the two laughed and cried with joy at the same time.
Danielle: How is that possible? Jacob I'm eating again...(crying)! I love you, I love you so much.
"I love you even more" he replied before starting to kiss her passionately and they made love for a long time.
The next evening at the Cullens, Jacob arrived hand in hand with Danielle who was wearing a pair of sunglasses but when they arrived the atmosphere was heavy.
Renesmee saw him and ran straight to him to carry her, she had grown again.
Carlisle: Jacob, it's a good thing you're here. We have a problem, Alice had a vision and the Volturi are coming for us.
Edward: During one of our walks with Renesmee, Irina, one of our cousins from Alaska, saw her in the distance and went to inform the Volturi. She told them that we transformed a child.
Jacob: Is it a violation of your laws to transform a child?
Esmee: This is a Serious Crime that is punishable by death in our kind.
Carlisle told him what he needed to know about this law and its origins, in the end, Jacob was quite angry.
Jacob: It's nonsense, she wasn't transformed but she was born like that. She eats human food well and her heart beats.
Carlisle: If we don't want things to go wrong, we'll need to gather witnesses who will support us. We have friends who I'm sure will want to help us.
Jacob: I see. Danielle and I also have something to share with you. (looks at Danielle) you can show them.
She took off her glasses to show her eyes to others.
Emmett: You wanted to show us lentils?!
Edward: Emmett...those aren't lentils...
« It's…your eyes!! She has the exact same eyes as when she was human!! » Alice moved closer and said with shock in her eyes.
Danielle: I can also eat human food and drink blood as well.
When she said that, the others might have found her ridiculous if it weren't for the smell of human food in her mouth.
Rosalie: How…? How it is possible ?
The whole family was shocked and intrigued by it. The girls came to pester Danielle with questions but she didn't know anything herself.
Carlisle: Jacob, what is happening to your partner has never happened before. What happened ?
Jacob: (Sighs) I took the time to think about it and I have a pretty crazy theory although it remains verifiable.
Everyone immediately turned to him and fell silent to listen.
Jacob: According to my tribe, I am a type of wolf that had never been seen even in the time of my most distant ancestors, which means that I have completely different and unknown abilities from those of my brothers.
Jasper: Like your smell, it's quite pleasant compared to the others.
Jacob: That's an example, yes. As for what happened with Danielle, we've been quite intimate the last few weeks and since vampires can't bear children, I didn't mind leaving my seed in her so as it went on we were doing it she must have had a change.
Emmett: What you mean is that your sp-(stops and looks at Renesmee)…your seed can cure our condition.
Jacob: What I mean is that if a vampire has a part of me in him, he can become like Danielle. It doesn't have to be my seed, it could just as easily be...
Edward:...your blood.
Jacob: Correct, but it's just a theory.
Rosalie immediately moved closer to Jacob and took his hand to start begging him.
Rosalie: Jacob please, I beg you...I know we haven't always been allies but I'm asking you out of pity...let me try.
Carlisle: ROSALIE, NO! If you drink human blood it will be a violation of the treaty, I know it's not the life you wanted but our family is fighting its thirst.
Rosalie looked depressed but Jacob grabbed her shoulder as if to reassure her.
Jacob: Carlisle, the fact is that I'm no longer human, I'm a werewolf and very different from my own species. This will not be a violation of the treaty.
Carlisle: What if your blood takes us back to the human blood frenzy?
Rosalie: He could try it on me and if my thirst increases then you will be able to stop me.
They thought about it and Carlisle relented. Everyone agreed that Rosalie should try it and she begged Jacob to start now.
