Chapter 2: Lady Beaumont

"I'm sorry, Miss." Lila put her head down. "It's fine, I have a headache." Lila helped Rosie up. They headed back to her room. What Lila didn't know was that Rosie was feeling confusion and anger. The confusion was that she was somehow in this world of Vampires. "When did this happen?" She thought to herself. Her father was a Vampire away at war and her mother was a blood servant that he fell in love with. A blood servant was the lowest of a human jobs, and his family resented him for that. She was feeling angry, specifically towards Lady De Tori. Her feelings were extremely deep. This Rosie had been through so much and it what was mostly due to the matriarch of the family, Lady De Tori. Lady De Tori had made her life miserable. She kept Rosie at the lowest of the family totem pole. Kept her money from her and anything else valuable. Rosie was also considered the lowest by others because she was half Vampire. So she was disrespected even by the servants. While Rosie tried to reconcile with these things, she was already in her room. She sat on her bed and thought about how she was going to fix her situation. She was going to get revenge and climb to the top. Relief washed over her and she breathed. The soul had left her body.

From now on, she was 17 years old Rosie. Her past was gone. "Miss, would you like to do some reading today?" Rosie shook her head. If the first family said that she had no money, then she had to make money. "I would like to go for a walk." she said, "Okay Miss I'll get your fan. It's quite hot today." They walked out of the house into the garden. Rosie fanned herself and came up with a plan. Lila followed as Rosie walked through the garden out to the street. "Miss, where are we going?" She kept up with the quick pace Rosie was at. "Lila, I am not going to sit back and do nothing anymore. I need money. What can I do for money?"

"You can always do chores, Miss… Oh,

Please forget what I had just said." This made Rosie smile. She walked at a faster pace. Her hair flowed in the wind. Eventually, they showed up to a wooden door of a wooden gate. It looked like the gate servants would go through. "Miss" Lila whispered. "What are we doing?" She gave Lila a look and knocked on the door. The door opened and it was an old man. Rosie asked him if he had any jobs to, no matter what size that she could do. There was no job that he could give her. He was about to close the door when a chubby maidservant came running to the door. She was out of breath "Oh miss you must go see my Lady! She will feel bad if you leave, and she was unable to greet you." They followed the maidservant through another entrance. Rosie fanned herself as she looked at the beauty of the garden. They had a fountain and birds playing in the water. Butterflies touching the flowers. They stopped at a gazebo where there were two ladies laughing and having tea. She remembered the lady with her hair up and the silk blue robe on. "Good morning, Lady Beaumont." She curtsied. "Oh please my child, come sit and have some tea with us. This is Lady Ashton." She lazily pointed towards her. "Good morning," Lady Ashton said. Lady Beaumont nodded at a servant, and he came over with some tea for Rosie. "So why is the third Miss of De Tori house here asking for a job? " Lady Beaumont said. Rosie took a sip of tea clumsily and a little spilled from the tea cup. This made Lady Ashton laugh. "Hush I will not tolerate that behavior, Lady Ashton."

She slammed her tea cup onto the table.

Lady Beaumont turned to face Rosie and asked her again. "Now child, why would a young miss of a very wealthy house come and ask for a job?", "Lady Beaumont I have run out of funds, and I am looking to replenish it.", "Excuse me but isn't your father away at war? Are you not receiving an allowance from him? You don't look like you spend money on yourself." Lady Ashton said. Lady Beaumont was visibly annoyed. She rolled her eyes back and pointed her fan at Lady Ashton. "You are rude, and I am close to kicking you out." She said. Lady Ashton was a potential mate to Lady Beaumont's first son and saw that this was no good and hurried to Lady Beaumont's side and held her arm. "I'm sorry, please forgive me." Lady Ashton said. Lady Beaumont laughed. "Yes, yes, behave like a lady now." She waved her fan at her. "Let's take a walk." Lady Beaumont said. All three got up and started walking. "She is right about your father, Miss Rosie. Unless Lady De Tori is bad with the books." Lady Beaumont said. Rosie just listened quietly and nodded her head and fanned herself. It was hot and it was not working. The downside to being half Vampire was the weaknesses of a human. These ladies were just fine and using their fans merely as accessories. "I am sorry, but I cannot have someone from a family in high society work for me." Lady Beaumont said. They walked to the front exit of the house. "Thank you for your time, Lady Beaumont, Lady Ashton." She curtsied and walked away with Lila. "Miss, we didn't get any jobs and I'm sure Lady De Tori will be angry to know what we did." She turned to look at Lila and smiled. "Miss, you are most wicked."

They got to the house and all they heard was crashing and screaming. "Argh! How Dare She! People talked, and what did I look like? A monster! Where is that brat? She's going to ruin me!"
