Chapter 22: Chapter 21: Angelica's Interrogation

In the morning, Dahlia woke up from the warmth of her blanket, rubbing her sleepy eyes and tidying her slightly disheveled hair.

She slowly climbed out of bed and sat at the edge, her bare feet touching the wooden floor. Because the fireplace was burning brightly, she was only wearing a white, tight-fitting corset, accentuating her beautiful body curves, exposing them to the air. She stretched lazily and let out a yawn.

Glancing at the empty space on the other side of the bed, Dahlia's eyes flickered with a hint of resentment, as if saying, "Leaving me alone in an empty room again." She then stood up gently and walked to the vanity mirror in the bedroom, making a rhythmic sound with each step.

The reflection in the silver mirror showed an extremely charming woman, but unfortunately, there was a slight swelling on the right side of her face.

She touched it with her hand and let out a sigh.

Indeed, when women fight, it always escalates into a hysterical mess.

After the argument with Nina yesterday, it was no surprise that it eventually turned into a physical altercation.

Fortunately, Dahlia was not weak, and she managed to take on five opponents single-handedly, leaving them all bruised.

This was thanks to Char's unintentional actions.

In the past, Char had tried to improve his strength through meditation and exercise, but eventually found that these behaviors did not contribute to any increase in experience points. So, he briefly shifted his focus to various magical potions and mystical items.

After several attempts, it still ended up being ineffective. However, there were potions available that could enhance physical abilities, and Char had given quite a few to Dahlia.

The effects were not overly dramatic. At least Dahlia's slender and graceful body didn't show any signs of increased strength, and her power was only slightly greater than that of the surrounding maids.

Nevertheless, in the end, Dahlia still grabbed Nina by the hair and forced her to apologize to the young master, and she also washed the soiled clothes clean.

"Even though I'm a lady."

Looking at herself in the mirror, Dahlia's expression was somewhat shy, but when she remembered the scene from yesterday, she burst into laughter with a charming demeanor.

However, a trace of worry emerged in her eyes shortly after.

Young master, where could he have gone?

Are those rumors... true?

With these thoughts in mind, the maid Miss fell into contemplation, even doing her morning chores absentmindedly.

This kind of idle speculation continued until noon.

After Dahlia finished cleaning the room and checked the time, preparing to make lunch for Char, suddenly she heard a knocking at the door.

"He's here!"

Dahlia responded and hurriedly walked to the door, thinking it was Char returning.

However, upon opening the door, she was met with the sight of a golden-haired girl wearing a rose-colored wizard robe, her arms crossed against her chest, looking somewhat impatient.

She had a striking and captivating appearance, no less beautiful than Dahlia, and her demeanor was incredibly noble. Without guessing, it was clear that she was a young lady from a prominent noble family.

As a household maid who had a basic understanding of the student composition at the school, Dahlia naturally recognized this unwelcome visitor.

She immediately straightened her posture, bowing deeply and lowering her head. "Miss Angelica."

After exchanging pleasantries, Dahlia discreetly glanced outside with the corner of her eye. The hallway had become crowded with people, and it seemed that even downstairs there was a gathering of onlookers. The majority were curious bystanders who had come upon hearing the news.

This was to be expected, as the person appearing here was none other than the eldest daughter of the current Duke of Althia, the most favored and talented magical prodigy in the entire academy.

Seeing this scene before her, Dahlia's heart tightened, and she started to have some guesses.

Angelica tapped her mid-calf boots on the ground repeatedly. As someone who disliked waiting, her expression grew even darker upon seeing a maid coming out.

Her eyes narrowed slightly, losing some of their usual warmth and instead exuding scrutiny and authority.

After scanning Dahlia from head to toe, Angelica parted her red lips and coldly questioned, "So, it was you who struck my servant yesterday?"

So, it was about that incident.

Is she here to seek retribution?

Dahlia glanced at Nina, who stood behind her master with a miserable expression, and nodded softly. "Yes, but it wasn't me who started it..."

"Give yourself ten self-slaps, then apologize to my servant in front of everyone. If you do that, I will consider this matter resolved, and I won't hold you responsible."

Without even listening to the rest of Dahlia's words, Angelica waved her hand to interrupt her, as if declaring an established fact, showing no concern for the other person's thoughts.

Then, she glanced around the apartment but didn't find the person she was looking for. She furrowed her brows and asked, "Where is your master?"

Dahlia took a deep breath, feeling like she couldn't keep up with Angelica's thoughts, and honestly replied, "The young master went out last night and hasn't returned yet."

So, it's likely he won't be coming back.

Recalling the words of her teacher, Miss Mevis, that night, Angelica immediately felt that her speculation had come true.

If the first heir is confirmed dead or missing, then the title naturally passes to the second heir.

It seemed that her teacher was determined to obtain that title for Nia.

Most likely, after the incident last time, Angelica gained more resources, her position in the Mage Tower and the court improved, and she was ready to further develop her own influence. Nia, who was being groomed as the successor, naturally became the top choice.

The younger sister was lucky, and the older brother naturally became unfortunate to compensate for her luck. That's fair.

"Why are you still standing there?" Angelica looked at Dahlia with some confusion, seemingly surprised why she hadn't started self-slapping yet. Then she pointed inside the room and said, "After you apologize, go and fetch the letter of appointment from the previous Viscount."

Only when the letter of appointment from the previous Viscount Adelaide is obtained can a new letter of appointment be issued for Nia.

Originally, this should have been Char's right, but Angelica's tone was so commanding that it created the illusion that she was the true owner of the house.

And today, she came precisely for this matter, venting her anger on the maid just happened to be an added bonus.

After all, the retrieval of the letter was personally indicated by her teacher.

Upon hearing this, Dahlia gently pinched the fabric of her maid's skirt, bit her lower lip, and lowered her head, whispering, "I apologize for what happened yesterday, Miss Angelica. However, I believe that your servant's words and actions were the main cause of the conflict... And, I am the servant of Young Master Char, not your slave."

"Furthermore, regarding the matter of the letter of appointment, as the master is not at home, as a maid, I am not qualified to make any decisions on his behalf. Please wait a moment or choose another day to visit and discuss it with Young Master Char in person."

"Maid? Slave?" Angelica pondered over these two terms and then sneered, "Is there any difference? In terms of personality, they are all lower-class individuals serving the nobility."

In the Norton Royal Academy of Training, the majority still consisted of nobles, so Angelica had no fear of offending anyone with her words.

Moreover, as the daughter of a duke, she had the confidence to speak this way.

"As for the master..."

At this point, Angelica paused and then cast her gaze towards a certain spot outside the crowd.

In a location hidden from Dahlia's view, a crisp sound of footsteps suddenly rang out, steadily approaching this direction.

The bystander students, after clearly seeing who it was, showed astonishment on their faces and involuntarily made way, creating a path.

After a moment, another girl appeared in front of Dahlia.

She tied her hair into twin ponytails, had a petite figure, and wore a mage robe of the same style as Angelica's, which cascaded down to her slender ankles. A delicate little face was hidden beneath a slightly overly serious wizard's pointed hat. Her skin was fair and her lips were rosy and teeth white, making her look flawless like a cute porcelain doll.

However, her facial expression was so cold, devoid of any emotions, and her pupils lacked highlights.

Looking at the maid in front of her, the doll-like girl gave a slight bow and then, facing Dahlia's incredulous gaze, spoke in a chilly tone, "Dahlia, long time no see."

"Miss, you..."

Angelica interrupted Dahlia with a cold sneer and questioned, "Is she the owner of this house?"
