Chapter 20: An easy target
It was just another normal day in Levi's life. He was sitting at breakfast eating alone while everyone else in the school was staring at him. Word had gotten out about Roman's reward for anyone who permanently damaged Levi.
Every single student, especially the first years, were waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Ten gold coins meant money to impress girls and eventually get laid. They all knew Levi was a Level 0 magician.
Everybody felt like he was easy to beat. Levi, on the other hand, was planning to stay inside the school. Nobody would attack him there. Things would go bad if he left the premises.
Fights were forbidden inside the halls of the school but not outside of them. Indoors meant safety.
"Levi! You're okay, thank God! " Cora said as she came to sit with Levi.
He was less enthusiastic to interact with her like he should have been the first time. If he had done that, he may have avoided all that trouble with Roman and he would be under the radar.
"Levi?"
"I'm not some helpless guy that needs you checking up on him, " he said rudely. Cora was hurt by his attitude but she understood where he was coming from. It was her boyfriend that had threatened his life.
She had lied to him that she and Roman had broken up when that was far from the truth. She and Roman were taking a short break that she had considered turning into a permanent break up.
"I am truly sorry for–"
"Don't apologize for his actions. That is insulting to say the least. As if that is supposed to make everything else better. You and I belong to different lanes and it's time we realized that. "
Cora looked down with regret on her features. She knew how violent Roman was and yet she put Levi's life in danger.
"I tried to get him to stop this bounty thing he had declared but he won't listen to me. I have tried to help you. Please, believe me. " Cora said and placed her hand on Levi's. He pulled away immediately and glared at her.
"You are not helping. Everyone is watching and yet you are touching me intimately when you are the reason I am in danger. You want to help? Stay away from me. "
Without waiting for Cora to respond, Levi stood up and left. He kept out of hallways that had empty classrooms and washrooms. Those were places he could get beat up and nobody would ever know.
His classes dragged on for the rest of the day. They were all boring because he wasn't listening. He wanted the day to be over so he could go back to his dorm where it was safe. At least he knew Jacob wouldn't hurt him.
Jacob may have been bigger and stronger than Levi when they first came to Sunaru. However, things were different now. Levi's physique had greatly improved. More so when he consumed the panther's soul.
He was built like a lean model with just enough abs. He was also taller, stronger, and better looking. He was catching the attention of many girls. Some looked at him, giggled, and whispered.
His feud with Roman was helping with his bad boy points and girls loved a bad boy.
"Levi! Do you want to study together later in your room? I would like for us to help one another. " A girl from one of his classes asked as they were leaving.
Levi knew the girl didn't want to study. His watch clearly indicated that he was a Level 0 ability user. She knew he had no knowledge to offer. If anything, she was volunteering to help him.
The girl had a fairly blessed chest, curves for days, a tiny waist, and a pretty face. She was the full package. Levi had never been alone with a girl before but he was looking forward to it.
He could use a distraction and a way to gain experience in that department.
"Sure. What's your name? "
"Natalia. "
Levi smiled at her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"My room is number 7. Can you find it? "
Natalia blushed and nodded her head vigorously. Levi smiled even wider and left her standing there. She bit her lips and turned to her friends.
"So? What did he say? " They asked enthusiastically.
"He said to meet him in his room after class. I am so excited. There is no one better to pop my cherry than the bad boy outcast that everyone is out to get. He is like the main character of a novel. This is just like in my romance novel! "
She and her friends squealed and headed for the next class. She was not the only one. A lot of girls were looking to get their hands on Levi. He fit most fantasies they had in their heads.
Levi had long forgotten about his Roman situation. He was going to have a girl in his room for the first time in his life. This was big news. He couldn't wait to get to his room and kick Jacob out.
Before he could get there, a group of guys placed a bag on his head, punched his stomach, and dragged him out of the school.
The guys were working together to take down Levi out of the school so that they could get the reward and split it.
Three gold coins for each of the three of them would be enough to sustain them until they found another way to make money.
When they reached outside, one of them removed the bag from Levi's head and kicked him in the stomach.
"You are going to make us very rich, " one of them said.
The three of them were hovering above Levi as they got ready to beat him up. They were all Level 3 magicians. All of their strengths combined were more than Levi had fought in the dungeon.
However, those beasts he had fought had something these guys didn't and that was fighting experience. Levi considered staying on the ground and letting them beat him up.
The stakes were high. These guys could maim him or paralyze him or even kill him. He was not going to allow that. There was no way he would fight without exposing his powers.
He was ready for that and all the consequences that came with it.
"You have three seconds to leave here and avoid dying or getting hurt. " Levi said but they didn't take him seriously.
"Can you hear what a Level 0 magician like him is telling us? We could kill you right now and no one would miss you. You can't even defend yourself, you twink! "
Levi felt himself getting angrier by the second. The guys scorned him and even spit on him. His wrist tattoo started glowing red but none of the three guys noticed.
They thought Levi was an easy target and they were going to brag first before aiding in his demise.
