Chapter 14: The End of the First One
Ritsuka POV:
This is the last fight for this Singularity, we are so close to ending this madness and correcting proper human history. Since we let Friedrich in the village, the fight had only intensified and without his help, it was far more difficult
First we got ambushed on our way to Orleans by Lancelot, Chevalier d'Eon and Sanson, the fight was hard, Marie and Mozart and Georgios sacrificed themselves to finish the three servant, making and even trade even as we were much more numerous than them
After arriving in Orleans we engaged in a fight with Vlad III, Carmilla and Fafnir as the witch stayed inside the cathedral with another servant that Doctor Roman detected inside the edifice.
Siegfried assured us that he could defeat Fafnir without a problem, as Mash, Jeanne and me entered the cathedral, letting Napoleon fight Vlad and Elizabeth and Kiyome fighting Carmilla
"You're here ! " exclaimed the witch as we entered the cathedral, "Coming here just to die, isn't it beautiful my other self how you think that you're in the right ? "
She descended from the altar from which benediction were given before all of this mess
"Inside the domain of the Lord I will burn all of you ! " she cried out, drawing her sword and taking a hold of her flag " The little white soldier is not here with you ? Still wounded after I gave him a little spank ? " she smiled before dashing right for me
"Mash ! " I called before my friend came in front of me, shield raised to protect me, intercepting the witch, but as the sound of a glove hitting Mash's shield, I saw her body starting flying toward me, as I caught her I was propelled outside of the cathedral.
Jeanne tried to fight the Witch but she was soon propelled too outside of the cathedral falling right in front of me.
"Mash, Jeanne !" I was shocked that we were dispatched so easily by her, I knew that Mash was not a fully fledged servant but still, Jeanne was one but the witch manhandled us so easily.
'Is this the Grail empowering her ?' I thought before seeing the witch coming again, the time wanting to kill Jeanne, her sword drawn into a smashing motion toward the ground where stood Jeanne
Before I could even mutter a word, I saw Mash dashing toward Jeanne to protect her with her shield, the impact between the sword of the Witch and Mash's shield was so strong that it generated a shockwave that sent me flying
'Argh !' I internally screamed, hitting the paved ground in front of the Cathedral, the shock sending pain in all of my body
"Master!" I heard Mash scream, as I looked at her I saw the false saint dashing for me, ready to impale me with her sword, I tried to protect myself with my arms but before I could die, an enormous beam of blue light hit the Witch, sending her hurling toward the Cathedral,
I turned to my left, looking to where the beam came and I saw Siegfried, battered and bruised but still alive and Fafnir was nowhere to be seen.
"Master! " exclaimed Siegfried, coming toward me and offering his hand to help me stand up "If I were to be a second late, you would've died, you should look after yourself, stop going in the frontline with the servants" he admonished me, I knew of my own mortality and it scared me, but I couldn't help but want to help everyone
I didn't respond to Siegfried as I looked at the witch that was already jumping out of the hole that Siegfried tore in the cathedral's wall
"So you killed Fafnir ? " She questioned the dragon slayer as flames were seen dancing on her sword, "He was useless too huh ? " She said looking down, I could see her body tremble, "All of them are useless! " she exploded, her eyes reflecting fury and other emotions that looked like sorrow "They will all abandon me like the French did, ALL OF THEM!!" She cried out as the flames on her sword intensified
"Le Grondement De la Haine " she exclaimed as the witch launched her Noble Phantasm toward us, the heat already insufferable as the fire was coming closer the temperature increased exponentially.
"Mash, Jeanne !" I called to them for their Noble Phantasm to protect us, the normal shield of Mash will never protect us from a Noble Phantasm
Mash started to generate an impressive amount of energy before slamming her shield on the ground
"Lord Chaldeas ! " cried out Mash, creating a wall of blue energy protecting us of the witch's noble phantasm
"Luminosité Eternelle" cried out Jeanne at her turn creating a barrier of pure golden light
The clash between the three Noble Phantasm could be described as cataclysmic, light that could blind the eyes erupted and an explosion capable of deafening everyone that wasn't an enhanced human of a servant erupted, but with the protection of the two barrier type noble phantasm, we were safe of all the damage
"Siegfried ! " I commanded the dragon slayer before light erupted from his sword as he swung it down toward the saint
"Balmung !" he cried making his sword beam hit the witch, making her scream of pain and creating an enormous cloud of dust.
I was exhausted, giving the mana to all my servants to make them generate their noble phantasm, I decided to sit on the ground to regenerate my mana and not fall due to the lack of mana in my body.
As the cloud dissipated, we could see the witch panting on the ground, bleeding from a gushing wound on her right shoulder, she was trembling a bit
"Fuck, fuck ,FUCK ! " she screamed while touching her wound, I remarked that her wound was already healing, Siegfried, seeing this decided to rush her in a burst of speed, in less than a second, he appeared in front of her trying to decapitate her, but she was still capable of dodging, as she dodged his blade by tilting her head.
"Balmung !" cried Siegfried before letting out another noble phantasm
"Wait Siegfried ! " exclaimed Jeanne, but a bit too late as the witch let out another Noble Phantasm but this time, the attack of Siegfried was absorbed before being redirected toward him, he tried to dodge but his own noble phantasm still killed him
"Siegfried ! " I exclaimed before sensing his link with me disappear 'This is not good' I thought before slumping on the ground again, clearly in lack of mana.
The witch was not good either, her body all battered and her breathing rugged. She looked directly at me, her eyes conveying her hatred for me and I could clearly see sorrow in it.
"Why are you against me ? I am just avenging myself and all that were wronged in these lands" she questioned still looking at me
I pondered my speech for a bit before responding
"What you're doing is not avenging yourself, you're just massacring everyone without distinction, do you think some villagers had a saying in your execution Jeanne ? " I questioned her "No they hadn't anything to do with it, you're just killing innocent people ! "
"There are no innocents! All of them are sinners " she exclaimed, "Gilles help me ! " she cried out, at this, an enormous indescribable creature made of black flesh covered Jeanne and the new servant
As Napoleon used his Noble Phantasm, destroying the monster as we saw Jeanne and Gilles de Rais, escaping through the rubbles and with the cover of the dust cloud.
"We'll escape my Jeanne, I promise you that we'll come back stronger to get your revenge! " I heard the Caster exclaim
"Ritsuka ! The Caster is the one that has the Grail, his energy output is simply outrageous " I heard Romani exclaim through our communicator.
"Let's give chase ! " I proposed before we all broke in a sprint trying to catch up to the enemies
Friedrich POV:
'Let's finish this' I saw the Chaldeans give chase to the fleeing duo
'Sankt Bogen' I thought before, generating an enormous bow in the sky, on it I created several hundred arrows of reishi
I moved my hand toward the ground, making all the arrows fall on the duo, encasing them in a gigantic explosion, the light generated by my bow alone illuminated the entire ground in its blue light.
At the explosion the Chaldeans stopped and looked in the sky. I saw that they were quite happy to see me. How would they feel when I would take their Grail ?
I dashed toward the cloud that was covering the duo, as I used my senses to sense them, I saw that the witch's energy was extremely low, so I generated an enormous javelin made of reishi and throw it toward Jeanne
"My Jeanne ! " cried the Caster before taking the arrow in place of Jeanne, the explosion reaping his life, disintegrating his entire body, a golden cup fell on the ground after his death
"NOOOO ! " came the shocked voice of the Witch "WHY ? WHY ? No Gilles, not you don't let me alone again ! " she cried out, her eyes full of shock and sadness as he looked at the place where her friend was a second ago.
"You I'll kill yo.." but before she could finish her sentence, I pulverized her head with a holy arrow, throwing bits of flesh and blood on the Chaldeans behind her.
"Fr-Friedrich is this you ? " asked Jeanne, shocked by what just transpired.
I didn't respond to any of them as I took the medallion from my inner pocket and pointing it toward the Grail
"What are you doing Friedrich ?! " asked Ritsuka looking at me quite puzzled
"Obeying my orders " I said in a monotonous voice before the medallion activated, devouring the Grail in a ball of darkness.
"What orders Friedrich, were you not here to kill the monsters ? " asked Jeanne, taking a fighting position, looking at the grail that I had just covered in darkness, then looking at me with eyes filled with confusion and sadness.
I decided to stay silent, placing me between the Chaldeans and the Grail.
"Hey, if you're just going to stay silent, I'll just kill you ! " exclaimed the teal haired girl
"Wait Kiyohime! " said Ritsuka, before looking at me with puzzled eyes, " Can't we just take the Grail Friedrich ? " he asked me
"I'm just following orders Fujimaru Ritsuka, I don't have anything against you, but orders are absolute " I responded to the young man, letting my quincy cross dangle in front of my hand
"Friedrich, please, step back from the Grail !" asked Jeanne while looking right into my mask "I don't want to fight with you, we fought together in this war ! Marie was so grateful that you helped us save France"
I couldn't respond to that, as I created another Sankt Bogen, making rain three enormous reishi pillar between us,
"Cross this line and you will face me " I said, placing myself just behind the line that I created
"You think you can just threaten us and take the Grail from my husband ? " asked Kiyohime before rushing toward me in a burst of speed
I saw Napoleon aim his cannon at me, his eyes sad about this outcame, Elizabeth rushed at me with the teal haired girl, her spear aiming right at me. Jeanne stayed totally petrified in place, eyes wide and full of sadness.
I prepared for the fight to come when an enormous reishi pillar erupted from the ground engulfing me and repulsing the rushing servants.
'The fight is not for now,' I heard his Majesty's voice 'I didn't want the Grail, what bunch of overacting kids, I just wanted to see how you could summon using it and take what was inside'
'The Grail is just a battery, a wish can be done but it consumes a lot of energy' His Majesty continued, as the pillar was consumed by the darkness, I was teleported inside the darkness of the quincy's empire.
I saw His Majesty, sitting on the throne with a golden cup in his hands
"All of this for that ? " he asked, mocking the creation, "The Hogyoku of Sosuke Aizen is far better than this little battery, but the true bonus is what is inside of it"
"A pathway to a place called 'The Root', designed to be the origin of everything in this universe, what a power to collect, right ?" He asked me, looking from the cup to me.
"Yes, Your Majesty" I replied, kneeling on the ground
"Well Friedrich, for a reward for giving me this insight, what do you desire ,my child ? Don't be scared of asking anything that comes in your mind" Yhwach demanded, still looking right at me."First i'll give back this grail to these little children messing with time" he said before the grail was consumed in darkness and disappeared.
Ritsuka POV:
"I am sorry Director, we failed, Friedrich took the Grail right under our noses" I said apologizing to the image of Romani on the screen.
"That's serious Ritsuka," said the acting director, "Without a mana source to draw from, we will not be able to summon more servants to help us defeat the other Singularities" he sighted, looking at Da Vinci next to him, she had a severe frown on her face while looking at the report of what happened.
But in an instant, a pillar of darkness erupted from the ground and before we could even defend ourselves, it disappeared and in its place was the Grail
"It's the Grail that was taken from us! " exclaimed the acting director, looking excited at the reading on the machines next to him.
'But why did the Grail get back to us ? Could this be a trap' I thought before taking it back to Chaldea.
